It would seem our streak of good news has come to an end, as Coming Soon.com is reporting today they have confirmed the trailers that will be shown before the new Batman film, “The Dark Knight,” and a teaser trailer for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” is NOT among those listed. Putting an end to the earlier rumors that at long last we might see a teaser trailer for the sixth Harry Potter film, Coming Soon also speculates that they believe it might be shown as late as August 15, in front of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” however that is unconfirmed at this time. So its back to the waiting and guessing time again folks, sorry!

Thanks Lewis and Nigel!

Still waiting…..

Avatar Image says:

AWWW never mind perhaps it is being saved for something REALLY SPECIAL !

Avatar Image says:

Why do I have the feeling there will be NO teaser trailer?

Avatar Image says:

WTF????? what’s up with all the waiting?? argh!!!!

Avatar Image says:

That sucks. I was hoping it would be attached. I thought it was also was going to be attatched with the mummy. Now this one better be true. It better be with star wars. ‘Cause basicaly I’m getting sick of WB changing there mind. If it is in August then we will only have to wait at 3 more months before the movie comes out.

Avatar Image says:

Maybe we will get more pictures soon.

Avatar Image says:

WHY!!!! I’m still gonna go watch Batman and The Dark Knight… When are they gonna finally show a little preview… C’mon WB!!! I’m litrally pulling my hair out w/ this wait… I hope they show it at comic con, since i’m goin’..

p.s. HURRY UP WB W/ A TEASER TRAILER!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Well, if it’s coming out that late (I mean, 3 MONTHS before the actual film) WB ought to just go directly into the full version trailer and skip the teaser!!

Avatar Image says:

Why am I NOT surprised??! Come on WB! Enough is enough already!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Is it possible that it’s coming this Friday with Journey to the Center of the Earth?

Avatar Image says:

What gives? Even tho still x-cited about Dark Knight, now I’m just wondering when, oh when, will they give us what we want??

Avatar Image says:

cries

Denizzle, I think it can be a possibility, but we might have heard word from movie workers.

Avatar Image says:

Starfish:

These have always been rumors, WB has never confirmed that the teaser trailer would be with any of the films we thought they might be with. So it isn’t a case of WB changing their minds, it’s just a case of the rumors being just that and not fact.

I think they’re going to skip the teaser trailer and just go for the full trailer. There won’t hardly be any point showing a teaser trailer with that short of time to go before the actual film comes out.

Avatar Image says:

ddaannnggggggiittttuuhh. hurry up already. i need something to cheer me up.

Avatar Image says:

OH MY DEAR GOD! so late!? from of fan point of view-that sucks! but if I were in charge like WB I would do the same. why would they relase the trailer 4 months before the film? I would relase it one or two months before. at least we have 21 HBP pictures to look at :D

Avatar Image says:

I heard that it isn’t with he actual movie, but the IMAX one.

Avatar Image says:

I’m starting to think there is no Half-Blood Prince film. Movie Six is just a big hoax! ......Okay but seriously, WB, can’t you just tell us when the trailer will be released? We’re dying of dehydration here….plzkthx

Avatar Image says:

This is getting ridiculous. I’m actually losing interest in this film, and the sixth novel was my favorite in the series. Never in my life have I lost interest in anything Harry Potter related. Is it really that difficult to string a few scenes into a teaser trailer? Get your act together WB.

Avatar Image says:

FREAKING A!!! just give me a trailer or at least a poster or SOMETHING!!!

Avatar Image says:

*shakes head….. The Dark Knight has been the only thing I’ve been looking forward to. This is so disappointing. Then I hope the “teaser” will be the REAL trailer, because it seems a little late for a teaser.

Avatar Image says:

takes deep, calming breaths

Avatar Image says:

Hmmm….. Okay, now I’m getting a wee bit annoyed.

Avatar Image says:

I was so sure that they were waiting to premiere the trailer in the comiccon. But I just read the warner bros line up for comiccon and I cant see Harry Potter there.

So wtf? What are WB waiting for?

At least show us the montage you previewed in Amsterdam

Avatar Image says:

I don’t know why but this really annoys me :( And where the bloody hell is the official movie website from WB? On the bright side, we are only four months away from the movie people :) Can’t wait!

Avatar Image says:

This sucks! I have my money on Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. There’s no way they’re going to release a TEASER trailer 4 months before the movie comes out. That’s bullcrap.

Avatar Image says:

Dunno…maybe there are too many special effects scenes so they cannot actually put a trailer? Let’s think about it…hmmm…Hogsmeade,Diagon Alley, the Burrow, the Cave,Quidditch, the Astronomy Tower, the battle at Hogwarts,Spinner’s End,the Pensieve…all these scenes need lots of CGI so maybe they couldn’t have finished all that and they can’t release a teaser trailer because their footage is lacking?Maybe the ready scenes aren’t that “catchy” for a trailer…Who knows…

Actually,I tend to believe that there is going to be no teaser trailer. Logically, there will be a domestic trailer and an international trailer. I hope they will release them in the period of late August-middle September or else they’ll suck. And I hope it will worth it…

Avatar Image says:

maybe what they are doing is that it sucks so bad they had to redo the movie,or maybe they are goingto put in a movie without saying anything and let it be suprise.

Avatar Image says:

And also…I dont’ believe this news because Comingsoon.net does NOT seem like a credible source. I’m not going to believe it until WB announces it or until I go see The Dark Knight on July 18th.

Avatar Image says:

maybe what they are doing is that it sucks so bad they had to redo the movie,or maybe they are goingto put in a movie without saying anything and let it be suprise.

Avatar Image says:

I’m so damn sick of waiting, whats so hard about releasing a trailer, or even telling us, when it will be shown?

Hate it..

Avatar Image says:

There’s no reason for it to be with Dark Knight. That film has its own hype. It’ll be attached to something less guaranteed to succeed I’m sure.

And REALLY? There HAS to be a trailer? People already know it’s coming out anyways.

Avatar Image says:

Patty, I agree with you! I’m losing interest in the Half-Blood Prince film as well, because, apart from a few pictures, there is no hype for this film whatsoever. Whenever I mention it coming out, most people have no idea at all.

Avatar Image says:

grrr…... when are we going to see this trailer?? It’s bad marketing. We’ve seen the Twilight trailer weeks ago, and that’s coming out later than Harry Potter. This isn’t helping create buzz. It’s just creating buzz (read: annoyance) within the HP community, which is ALREADY GOING TO GO SEE IT!!! There isn’t a book to help boost sales. A bit of early buzz could go a long way. Bad move to wait so long on a trailer. (Plus, it just pisses me off.)

Avatar Image says:

gah, that sucks. It would make soooo much sense for them to put it infront of Batman. What’s the holdup?

Avatar Image says:

I. HATE. WB!!!

Not a smart move.

Avatar Image says:

Teaser remains attached to The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience.

Currently 16 tracks have been or are being composed for the HBP movie. Hedwig’s Theme is again used as a motif on more than one occasion. From the current working copies, the soundtrack (in it’s present, unfinished state) seems loads better than OotP. Mr. Hooper has thoroughly outdone himself. I’m not an audiophile however, so don’t take my word for it.

I saw quite a few requests after my latest comments for more news on HBP. I think it’s pretty obvious now as to why I give out only tiny tidbits. Most of the big “boom” news/photos etc. is being pushed out in a timely fashion by WB. I want no part in messing that up.

Avatar Image says:

Can trailers be released without a movie? As in just online or something?

Avatar Image says:

Death!

But how funny would it be if they opted to put it i front of a film that is starring an HP actor rather than in front of a film in a similar drama?

i.e. in front of Mamma Mia! instead of The Dark Knight.

No one would expect it, for certain, and coming soon likely wouldn’t be interested in the trailers in front of Mamma Mia!

Oh well. A boy can dream.

Avatar Image says:

All I can say is: I hope it’s released on August 11 (my burfday!) so I can has an epic birthday present. Maybe it’ll come with Mamma Mia! (cause Julie Walters is in it)

Avatar Image says:

...eh. EH? NOOOO!

I am SO sick of WB. This is ridiculous. arg. ARG!

Avatar Image says:

I think the bigger joke is nothing at Comic-Con. I mean it is a great place to have some footage shown, and we know Leaky will be there so the buzz could be good.

I feel like the WB is taking Harry for granted, they feel there is no real need for marketing because the name alone will bring in 100 mil. on opening weekend. I suspect that this may be a bad film as well, we have heard of mnay changes (adding material, not having a proper ending, no Scrim.) and if they release a trailer it will give us Potter fans a chance to pick it apart and create bad buzz. So by having only trailer they minimize the buzz, and just ride the name of Harry Potter to the big bucks.

I would also trust Comingsoon.net, they are one of the good movie sites, and are rarely wrong.

Avatar Image says:

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! I was hoping for The Dark Knight soooooooooo much – . – I don’t belive it!!! It would have been so great… grrrrr

Well, it’s not like we’re not trained in waiting

Avatar Image says:

This is ridiculous.

Avatar Image says:

They can’t keep us waiting like this! Don’t they know how horrible the wrath of the Harry Potter fandom is?

Avatar Image says:

I’m getting impatient. BUT, maybe WB has something good up their sleeve and then we all won’t be disappointed when we actually see the trailer. HA! Scratch that! I’m effing impatient & I need a trailer like I flipping need oxygen! I don’t give a damn if the trailer sucks butt, I need one NOW!

Anyway, I’ve lost hope in everything… So whatever. No need to hope on the trailer anymore. I’ve no patience for that. I guess when I see the trailer, I`ll see it. =|

Avatar Image says:

Wow. On the one hand, I can understand how it might be too early. This summer has seen a glut of big-budget high-impact movies, and people are going to want to cool down.

But at the same time…August 15th? That’s three months before it hits the theaters. That’s not much time to drum up enthusiasm, especially since people are losing interest.

Like me. I’m starting to give up on the Harry Potter franchise. Not enough information, not even a musical clip. These photos are nothing. No substantial interviews. It’s taking so long that it’s boring me…and that’s something I don’t like to admit.

Avatar Image says:

Whoever decided it’s not going to be in the new Batman movie should be fired! PRONTO!

Horrible decision—truly disgusting. Clone Wars? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT MOVIE!

Avatar Image says:

Just gotta wonder if they are waiting until after the verdict in the trial of Warner Brothers against the Lexicon. It just seems odd that we neither have a verdict or a teaser. Connected?

Avatar Image says:

Disapointment….

Avatar Image says:

Wow… This is sad!!! I mean, really WB?? Just give us something!!!! We’re dying here!!! The sixth book was my favorite and I’m dying for the movie!!! Help a brother out WB!!!

Avatar Image says:

Speaking of waiting…...does anyone have a clue when the paperback of Deathly Hallows will be released? Easier to tote around !!

Avatar Image says:

This is ridiculous…

No teaser, no trailer, no poster…nothing…

The only new thing we’ve seen from this film is a picture of Slughorn (who doesn’t look anything he’s described; we might as well go watch Jim Broadbent in Indy 4 to see what he’ll look like).

Avatar Image says:

Whoa, I can’t believe people are saying that they are losing interest in HP…. That’s kind of harsh, eh? I`m getting as impatient as a mother too, but I don’t think I would ever lose interest in HP. I mean, we`re all fans, right ?!

Avatar Image says:

sigh

Avatar Image says:

OH THE TORTUREEEE!! :| hits WB sign with a baseball bat n runs :D

Avatar Image says:

sigh

Avatar Image says:

OH THE TORTUREEEE!! :| hits WB sign with a baseball bat n runs :D

Avatar Image says:

|| please..tell me you’re not lying..please.

Avatar Image says:

I have a better idea….Why not putting the freaking trailer in front of the actual film??? I really can’t see what’s going on..I can’t understand this kind of marketting..it just doesn’t make any sense…

No trailer, no poster, no good pictures, no web site!!!!What are they playing at?

@Tom… adding new scenes and ommiting some doesn’t make a film bad…Having EVERYTHING in does….I just thought I should mention it..

Avatar Image says:

O…M…G How ridiculous is it gonna get? Less than 5 months away and nothing but a couple of pictures? If WB thinks theyre getting people excited and more interested theyre not, its just making people lose interest. I mean whats the point of waiting so dang long to release it?

Avatar Image says:

NOOO!!! Grr…. This sucks.

Avatar Image says:

NoooOOOOooooOOOOooo!!!

That was pretty much my last hope.

I have had it with Warner Brothers. I just wish they would hurry up and release the trailer instead of toying with us – we are not going to be any more excited about it if we have to wait longer, we will be even less excited!!!

Or even if they aren’t planning on releasing the teaser trailer then they could at least deny big rumours like this because the whole fandom is just getting false hopes.

Pleeeeease hurry up with the ruddy trailer WB. And you know what, it had better be the best teaser trailer I have ever seen. Otherwise the whole company can expect some nasty jinxes coming their way from me.

Avatar Image says:

AAAAGGGHHHH!!!! I can’t take it! I can’t take it! Make it stop! I need it BAAAAD!

Avatar Image says:

Big deal – I’m sure all those ‘losing interest’ will be in the queue opening night, just like me! Now if the movies release was delayed that’d be a different matter. I’m as excited about HBP as ever, especially with Yates directing.

Avatar Image says:

Thanks for the info | |!!!!! I was hoping the soundtrack for this movie would be good :D

Avatar Image says:

Why am I not surprised? I figured we’d get plenty of notice from WB when it’s coming out, so I wasn’t holding my breath. But this is getting pretty hard to understand and makes me wonder what they’re up to. Have they really decided that HP needs no trailers or marketing? What would WB be spoiling by just giving us a date for the trailer??? I like to think they’ve got something BIG to reveal with it, hence the crazy timeline, but what’s wrong with a date? Unless they’re having to wait on something to complete it and they just don’t know when it’ll happen??? I guess in about ten days we’ll find out if the promises of it coming with the IMAX Dark Knight are legit, but that does seem rather bizarre. You’d think they would want to make that public knowledge to boost their IMAX sales (which are, of course, more expensive than regular theaters). But if you’re right, ||, I’ll doubt ya no more!

Avatar Image says:

I hope Jo realises how peevd off the majority of the fandom are at WB and gives them a good kick up the backside. We know they don’t listen to us…. but hopefully they have enough respect for Jo to listen to her.

Oh who am I kidding. Jo is way too nice to do that but I think someone needs to do something, depserately. Something is not right with this film and I just hope it is at least up to the standard of the previous films.

Avatar Image says:

I am also hoping for something at the comicon!

I will keep my eyes wide open!

Avatar Image says:

Corey and Patty, I agree with you both 100%. There has been absolutely nothing on WB’s part to keep people interested or aware of a movie coming out this year.

Too focused on the Dark Knight’s buzz as well as Benjamin Button’s Oscar talk so early on :P

Avatar Image says:

I’ve given up all hope of a TEASER trailer. It’s too late now. Let’s just get the full length trailer already! Does everyone over at WB have fence polls up their butts?

Avatar Image says:

omg i getting tired of this im not going to see star wars just for the trailer i mean hate star wars but i could the trailer come out in the movie coming out on july 11 with hellboy 2 meet dave and journey to the center of the earth well anyway i just want the trailer already

Avatar Image says:

i heard the trailer was going to be shown in the comic con 08

Avatar Image says:

lgghanem! i absolutely agree:D i wanted to write it as comment:D:D

Avatar Image says:

They aren’t keeping our interest? Are you folks nuts? Look at all the comments listed here! Of course, they’re keeping us interested or we wouldn’t be freaking out about the lack of a simple teaser trailer. I really DON’T like this method of ‘advertising’ but I grudgingly must admit it is effective!

Avatar Image says:

People just need to relax!! Back when each book was coming out, we had a nearly two year wait in between! Surely you can wait 4 months for the movie to come out.

Avatar Image says:

Why!? :( Why!? Please just give us a trailer!

Avatar Image says:

Well, if not with the Dark Knight, then please, PLEASE release it by August 15!! (haha that’s my birthday.. what a present that would be!) But seriously, all this waiting is making me really mad.. what’s the point of delaying the release? As someone said earlier, with no more book releases to support this movie, it’s gonna need a lot of hype if it’s going to do as well as the rest of them. I mean, I know the whole fandom is going to go to see it but what about other people? Come on, WB, just please give us something already!!

Avatar Image says:

i am starting to hate WB. i think they will give the teaser trailer only the day before the itself releases. I WANT THE TEASER TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

What the hell? Seriously around this time we usually have a teaser and an international trailer. The one thing I really don’t understand is why they can’t give us a date . If they’re going to make us wait for months than they should at least have the goddamn decency to tell us we’re going to have to wait months. We can take waiting patiently for a set date even if it’s a long time away but leaving us behind craving for news for months on end is nothing but torturing the very poeple who’re anxiously looking forward to this movie.

Avatar Image says:

Oh, and I completely agree about being super pumped about the new movie and Yates directing it. He did so good with the 5th, I can’t wait to see what he’s done this time!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Hmm…As a chief projectionist in a cinema in the uk, I know that the trailers for a film are not decided until the week before the film starts showing. Also, they will be different trailers for each print of the film, so my cinema will show 5 prints of the dark knight at the same time, which will have 5 different sets of trailers. There is no way that they can say for certain that it will not be showing unless Warner Bros are not actually having them manufactured in time.

Avatar Image says:

Everytime I’ve ever seen a teaser or official trailer, it’s nearly always been atleast two months before the movies release. It’s actually a little too soon! If there were to be a teaser trailer, then it would make everyone that much more restless for the movie to come out! I’d say we’ll see the HBP preview an the end of august or in september, which would be great because my birthday is in september, and it would be a wonderful birthday gift!! =D

Avatar Image says:

I just died a little inside. Damn you WB >_< WHERES OUR TRAILER!?

cries of frustration

Avatar Image says:

I totally agree with Patty (page 1). This is getting really annoying. >> You know, WB, there is a time span where, when you wait with the release of the trailer, it’s for the fans to get even more excited. But then there is a point when the trailer still isn’t released and the fans begin to get really annoyed and pissed off and start losing their interest in the movie (just like Patty said). WB, I think you just stepped over this point!

Avatar Image says:

NOO! do you no how many people will go to that movie!! I WAS SO convinced that it was going to be in front of batman. :( im officially depressed.

Avatar Image says:

Let WB will tell to get report and confirm. ;) We wait to hear.

Avatar Image says:

Oh maaaaaaan this sucks!! Why why why won’t they release a damn trailer? Isn’t this just like, the most frustrating thing ever?? WHY do we have to wait so long?? Do they give no explanation? :( It makes me sad…

Avatar Image says:

NOO! do you no how many people will go to that movie!! I WAS SO convinced that it was going to be in front of batman. :( im officially depressed.

Avatar Image says:

Everyone can be mad at WB if you want, but they are playing it pretty smart. They coud hold the trailer all the way up to a week before the movie premiered, and all of your interests will still be peaked! No matter what, we are all going to be standing there in line for our movie ticket, so whats the big deal?!

Avatar Image says:

NOO! do you no how many people will go to that movie!! I WAS SO convinced that it was going to be in front of batman. :( im officially depressed.

Avatar Image says:

This is BULLSHIT! Sorry to the younger crowd on here, but it is. I am so over WB and their crap right now and agree with the others who have said that they feel WB are taking HP fans for granted. I don’t know what infuriates me more, if they are just taking us for granted or if this is some sort of messed up marketing tactic. Either way I don’t appreciate being toyed with, its disrespectful. I’m not going to lose interest, but you can bet your ass I won’t be going back to see HBP more than once like I normally do. Again, sorry for the language, but I am too mad right now.

Avatar Image says:

I’ve got a feeling it’ll be released with one of these movies:

• Mamma Mia! • Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D • Hellboy 2: The Golden Army • The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor • Star Wars: The Clone Wars • I still think that ComingSoon.com is lying, and it may be with The Dark Knight

Avatar Image says:

Oh geez, this is ridiculous. Twilight has its trailer out already and it isn’t coming out until December.

Avatar Image says:

I don’t think comingsoon.com would lie about the trailer not being with Dark Knight, because it would only add to the number of people who have been waiting to see that movie anyways.

Avatar Image says:

wow. you know what, if the way some of you are behaving represents the harry potter fandom, then i want out. there’s no reason to be so rude and belligerent. you are not owed anything by wb. grow up a little, please, and be patient. go ahead and feel upset, because, yes, it’s a little let down, but seriously calm it down with the caps angst. you just look foolish.

Avatar Image says:

Well, thankfully, once the trailer is out I can see it on line. I absolutely refuse to pay for or sit through one more craptacular Star Wars. I just can not do it, not for anything. That last one nearly did me in, I prayed for an asteroid to hit the theater so I wouldn’t have to finish it. My ride refused to leave short of that eventuality.

Avatar Image says:

You all are the biggest bunch of whiners. Avada Kedevra me if you wish, but to get all huffy and puffy over a less than 60 second “teaser trailer” is ridiculous. To say your losing interest over the movie and feel totally taken for granted is just childish.

Why are we as fans so up in arms over what will most likely be quick shots of the Trio, Hagrid, Dumbledore, and death eaters over top of a quote probably by Dumbledore ending with a sweeping glimpse of a shot of Harry and Dumbledore going into the cave? (At least that is what I have imagined in comparison to the other teasers)

I understand that people are mad about the situation, but we can’t go all half-cocked and crazy eyed about something in which we don’t know all the facts of.

We’re all going to be seeing the movie teaser trailer or not….so calm down, take a deep breath…be happy that we’re getting a movie at all people.

Avatar Image says:

wow. you know what, if the way some of you are behaving represents the harry potter fandom, then i want out. there’s no reason to be so rude and belligerent. you are not owed anything by wb. grow up a little, please, and be patient. go ahead and feel upset, because, yes, it’s a little let down, but seriously calm it down with the caps angst. you just look foolish.

Avatar Image says:

@ Gryffindor51: right on, pal. cheers.

Avatar Image says:

yeah, i’m seriously pissed and ready to flood wb with emails. there is no 6th movie. that’s the secret. why oh why, wb??? all i ask is a little teensy clip of movie 6, and what do i get? nothing. i think i’m about to cry.

Avatar Image says:

ahhhhh crap

Avatar Image says:

What THE HECK Warner Brothers. We’ve been waiting all summer,

Avatar Image says:

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

yeah…im really not surprised either. and hey i respect some ppl are mad and some dont really care but personally im on bella’s side… im just saying…

Avatar Image says:

Well . . . that’s disappointing. It seems that every month we get a new lead or two for the trailer, and every month those leads are proved false. All I have to say is that it had better be a heck of a teaser trailer when (IF) they release it. XD

Avatar Image says:

I have officially given up on the trailer. I’m just telling myself there isn’t going to be one anymore.

Avatar Image says:

we have to understand that postproduction takes time… has the complete edit even been finished yet?.... I would rather wait a bit longer for a nice trailer than a rush job that may misrepresent the movie. (haven’t we all seen trailers with scenes that do not make it to the final movie… and would you not feel equally disapointed for missing a prospective scene) we all know how it ends…the kisses and the tears will be there… but just as they came in their own time… so will the trailer.

has anyone also noted that there is no website for the movie yet? no pics (even those already released) no friendly countdown widget… (just imaged the game having birds attacking Ron… geez i’m random) I just hope they bring back Wood for the last battle… that would be a kick.

Avatar Image says:

August? Wtf? Too long.

Okay, i’m not believing ANY rumours about the trailer. I guess you should just go and see lots of films in the cinema that are the same certificate, and you might be suprised. It might come on.

lolol. I’m guessing HBP will be 12a, so just go see lots of 12a films. (not sure what it is in America, but here in the Uk, it’ll be a 12a)

Avatar Image says:

Well, I’m not defending WB anymore. I had been giving them the benefit of the doubt because I truly believed Dark Knight would have been the best way to spark interest in the movie. To me, WB really blew it. You have the biggest movie of the summer, and you’re not even hyping your biggest winter movie of this year in front of it? I just don’t understand this? Are they struggling to cut a trailer? Do they think we just don’t care? Is HBP THAT bad?

From a marketing stand point, this makes no sense. I’m very disapointed.

Maybe ComicCon is our only hope for this summer. Unless WB wants to release a trailer in front of Clone Wars, or something? Or, like others have said, maybe we just won’t get a teaser.

Avatar Image says:

Guys, it’s offical, WB hates us. And they like seeing us pull our hair out over not getting trailers (I’m not the only one doing that, right?).

Avatar Image says:

This whole deal reminds me of At Worlds End another movie that took forever to get it’s trailer released..

Avatar Image says:

What is the point at releasing a teaser at that point? They’ll be getting ready to start showing tv spots by that time. Good grief!!! It is the biggest mistake for it not to be with the Dark Knight. It’s one of the Summer’s most highly anticipated movies. The have the best possible movie under there own banner to release it with-since the Harry Potter movies themselves are released too far apart- but do they? No! AHHHHH!!!! OK… I feel better. But release it soon, preferably before the movie opens.

Avatar Image says:

I have a feeling that they’ll release it when we least expect it- say, next week or this Sunday or something. Just as long as they release it in the next two months I’ll be happy. I’m not getting mad at WB for not putting a trailer with a movie that I only want to see for the Joker. I will get mad, however, if they fail to release it before August 31. September = too late.

Avatar Image says:

Also, the title of the article on ComingSoon.com has a question mark at the ned of it. So maybe they aren’t sure.

Avatar Image says:

I HATE WB! This totally sucks. The other trailers shown are for movies coming out in 2009!!!!!!!!!!!! This movie is coming out in 2008, in 4 months, and these people of WB dont seem to realize that a trailer is WAY Overdue. This is so fustrating, and also makes NO SENSE!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I think this is all a scheme to get all the harry potter fans to go see all the other WB movies expecting a teaser trailer…. then they get our money!!! Just kidding. I’m soo tired of waiting…ARRG WB!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Maybe the trailer is out (at movie theaters where the film is delivered) and it is so good and all the movie theater employees are secretly watching it over and over and keeping it to themselves lol.

Avatar Image says:

You know what….Im really not dissapointed. Im not a big batman fan or star wars fan…dont tell my brother, he lives for star wars! I dont want to sit through a long movie I really dont want to see in the first place. I’d be happy if it were in front of the Mummy 3. Im looking foward to the day when Leaky announces that WB has a set date for the trailers release! It’s all part of the Harry Potter magic. Stop getting your hopes up, the movie doesnt come out until November, dont expect the trailer for another month or so.

Avatar Image says:

Kerri has a point, waiting and getting mad IS all part of the magic of fandom

Avatar Image says:

this is just ridiculous, why do they keep putting it off? first they said it would come out with Caspian in May, and now, about 2 months later, they say it’ll come out in August. I truly think that showing it before the batman movie would have been perfect, but it’s they’re problem if us fans are sick of waiting and don’t want to go see the trailer and the theatre anymore. Oh well…

Avatar Image says:

Lol DeathlyH

I think if I worked at a cinema I would do that xD

Avatar Image says:

thats awfully late for a teaser trailer. Im doubting we will even have a teaser any more. They’ll just skip to full trailer.

Avatar Image says:

I would do that too, MuggleQueen. In fact, I’d do that all day!

Avatar Image says:

:( GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! :,( I want the teaser trailer!!!

Avatar Image says:

that’s okay…you know why? Watchmen is gonna blow HP 6 away! YES! And terminator salvation is gonna rock! And it’s the Dark Knight. I’m sorry, I’m a comic book fan first and the genius of Alan Moore trumps Jo. Though she is second on my list, then Will Eisner.

Avatar Image says:

This is stupid. Running it in front of “The Dark Knight” makes more sense. This makes me sad.

Avatar Image says:

I, for one, find this marketing strategy being employed by WB genius. My anticipation for a movie is far greater when much of it is left unknown and unspoiled, with curiosity at a fever pitch. I much prefer this to the barrage of pictures and trailers that accompanied the previous films. So much was given away, and not much was left to the imagination. I like how everything is being released slowly and in a timely fashion. There is nothing worse then seeing everything exciting from a movie before it’s even in theatres. Take for example Spider-Man 3 from last summer.

I actually hope that when the teaser/trailer is released, it really does just TEASE us. 40-50 seconds would be fine by me.

Avatar Image says:

whatever, people have the right to get huffy over this. personally, i’ve spent hundreds on these movies, without me, they couldn’t freakin make this stuff. so i agree, this is BULL.

Avatar Image says:

This is the perfect news for my truly horrible day! ugh!

Avatar Image says:

It may be with the Mummy 3. Sorry if this has been posted already.

Avatar Image says:

WB is just determined to squeeze all of the everlasting fun out of HP fandom….

I for one enjoy looking at the trailer 50 million times over before the movie comes out. I like the anticipation that comes months before the movie is released.

I’m not saying give the movie away, but this is the ONLY movie that I follow news on. By not really having anything to go on (until quite recently,) there is nothing to really talk about.

sigh Oh well….... as Hermoine said in PoA, “We’ll wait.”

Avatar Image says:

are you JOKING ME!!!!!!???? This is ridiculous, They’re really losing a lot of fans by doing this.Come on WB, don’t you love us?

Avatar Image says:

OMG!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Now I am starting to get seriously angry, way past annoyed. Maybe not until Clone Wars? I have NO interest in seeing that whatsoever. I was prepared to go see The Mummy if I have to, but if it’s in front of the Clone Wars I will wait and catch it online, I am not wasting money on that one so Lucas can wring more $$$ from I guess the only idea he has ever had; would it be too much to ask for him to come up with a NEW concept instead of ever changing versions of the same old movies? Ugh.

Avatar Image says:

I have no desire to see the Clone Wars. I hope I don’t have to pay 6 bucks just so I can see the teaser and walk out. This totally bites. I mean the released the GoF trailer 4 or 5 months before it actually came out. It’s not that soon to release it . Honestly. Get with it WB.

Avatar Image says:

Man what a let down. That gave me another reason to see batman..SHOOT!!!! OH well good things come to those who wait.

Avatar Image says:

just a thought…Or perhaps warner bros. has decided to release the teaser into a dvd release instead of in front of a theatrical release. Saw today that the movie “Penelope” was released with exlusive content for “Twilight”. wouldn’t surprise me if WB did this, to try to boost dvd sales by including a special sneak at HBP. just a thought.

Hey, Leaky, are you guys working on getting any info from WB?? My first thought was that this was a very bad marketing move, but if fans are so furious that they´re not getting a trailer, it means it´s working. After all we´re all going to see it anyways. So I dunno if anyone from WB reads our comments, but if they do, they´re probably enjoying seeing us going crazy about it. Either way, bad for us! Aaaaaaaaaah…..:((

Avatar Image says:

T_T weeping with frustration what’s keeping then so long? T_T

Avatar Image says:

Gah!

Avatar Image says:

I don’t wan’t to see a star wars movie! I’d rather see yoda die after 30 minutes of “luke…force..crap” than this movie!! OKok, I’m a bit extreme, but I feel that way now…

Avatar Image says:

After August is September, October- then the release month, They really dont have much time for any of this. They better give us something. I like the photos but I want some more please. Like I still havent seen a decent pic of Bellatrix or Narcissa. Or our main problem here THE TRAILOR!!!!!! Its got to be in August or like I said the clock is ticking. Holy cow – hold the phone, we only have about 4 months to go? thats long and short at the same time.

Avatar Image says:

WB are really taking the cake now. They are looking extremely petty, we all know why they’ve been messing around with releasing stuff from HBP.

Avatar Image says:

I do not understand the people who think this is brilliant marketing. Who is getting pumped up and ticked off and frothing at the mouth about this movie by waiting? ONLY serious HP fans, the people who check the websites every single day looking for news, the people who will see this movie a million times no matter what. WB needs to reach EVERYONE ELSE, all the people who like the movies but don’t live for them the way we do. What better time or way to do that than releasing the trailer in front of the biggest movie of the summer, The Dark Knight?

Waiting until closer to the movie, as some have suggested, like into September even, makes no marketing sense. The fall movies do not bring in the number of viewers the summer blockbusters do. If WB wants to drum up big excitement for HBP with a wide range of people, not just HP fans who are (literally!) tearing their hair out and frothing at the mouth, they are losing their best opportunity by not putting it in front of Batman. If they are hoping to increase ticket sales to movies that are not likely to do well at the box office, I guess they might increase their profits a BIT, but most HP fans are not going to fork over their hard-earned money to see a movie they don’t care about at all, just to see the trailer which will be online 24 hours later anyway. WB should be more concerned with drumming up hype for HBP with as many people as possible than getting a modest increase on some snooze-fest no one wants to see.

For those who don’t understand why so many of us are SO upset about this when we will get the movie in 4+ months anyway, well… Think about it. There is nothing else HP to look forward to! We need something new to chew over, obsess about and dissect to keep us happy while we wait for the movie. The website, a poster, more pics, an interview, anything! After HBP it will be two LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGG years before we get the first half of DH. That is going to be even more torturous. I can’t even face the thought of that right now. WB, please, throw us a frickin’ bone, here!

Avatar Image says:

Why does this not surprise me? It’s the same story all over again. But I really thought it HAD to be with this movie. It just had to or else it would be too late for a teaser. Apparently not. I’m giving up on the trailer now. I’m not going to hope and think it will be with some move anymore. It’s just ends in disappointment. Thanks to you, WB!! I hate this stupid marketing who is not working one bit!

Avatar Image says:

i doubt it will be in front of star wars it wil probably be in front of the new mummy movie which i believe will be released on august 1stx

Avatar Image says:

they kind of did the same thing with pirates at world’s end, i don’t think the teaser for that was released until 2 or 3 months before the actual film came out.

Avatar Image says:

crud! i was already planning to go to “the dark knight” just so i could see the trailer. i don’t even see why they have to make us wait to see the movie. November, i mean come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we need our potter-fix!

Avatar Image says:

they really should put up that teaser trailer soon. What other movie will they choose for the teaser trailer?

Avatar Image says:

crud! i was already planning to go to “the dark knight” just so i could see the trailer. i don’t even see why they have to make us wait to see the movie. November, i mean come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we need our potter-fix!

Avatar Image says:

...dammit

Avatar Image says:

*sighs. I was really ticked off about this depressing bit of news, but now I`m fine with it. Whatever. We`ll all see the trailer soon. I’m just not going to complain anymore. It’s no good moaning and groaning and crying about a trailer that we will see. I’ll just have to be patient for the rest of this summer. The trailer will come.

Avatar Image says:

If the lawsuit crap is indeed what is holding it up- then we all should be prepared for the release date to be pushed back. At this point, nothing would surprise me.

I can just hear the statement know: ” Due to the on going legal proceedings…”.

Atleast we have the book- and a super fabulous picture of Luna in all her Spectrespec glory.

And if worse comes to worst…the image of a bunch of people dressed as death eaters storming the WB offices demanding a trailer is more humorous than the image of Ron besmitted with Romilda Vane.

Avatar Image says:

LemonFaerie: I absolutely agree! =)

I would be very perplexed if WB decided to run the trailer with Star Wars (which I didn’t even know that a Star Wars movie was coming out! Ha!) and NOT the Dark Knight. Is Star Wars even a WB film? I don’t know. Anyway, I hope that WB realizes that just because we love Harry Potter does not mean we love Star Wars too! Seriously, every Harry Potter fan (at least I am one of them) does not have to like Star Wars and every other fantasy/sci-fi film that comes out!! I hope WB understands that and does not waste an ENORMOUSLY GOOD opportunity to market it with the Dark Knight. I am not being selfish or overly angry here about not yet having the teaser trailer, but I feel that it is a big mistake on WB’s part to let the chance go.

Of course, this may not be a marketing strategy at all, it may all be just a matter of the post-production team running severely behind. Which is perfectly fine and I respect that. Because I really appreciate the amount of work the cast and crew put into these films and if they need more time then so be it. Though, I do think it would be wise for WB to at least give us some sort of Official word on what to expect and when to expect it. I don’t think that’s asking a lot. =)

Avatar Image says:

This seriously is getting ridiculous. It’s less than five months away! Damn WB….

Avatar Image says:

There’s no teaser trailer… We’ll have to wait until the real trailer,, maybe in october :( why are they doing this to us??? we’re good fans!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

WTF!? This is so ridiculous! I’m so flipping tired of waiting. What gives WB!?

Avatar Image says:

August 15th??? Now that is freaking ridiculous. If it comes out that late, it better be a full trailer instead of a teaser.

Avatar Image says:

I’m all for being patient, blah blah blah, but this has officially reached the point of ridiculous. I’m sure there are those who are going around fandom telling us all to calm down and be patient and cut the WB some slack, etc etc. And you know what? As recently as a month ago, I probably would have been one of them.

But this? This is complete and utter crap. I’m tired of being patient. I’m tired of being TOLD to be patient. We’ve waited damn long enough. It’s time for the WB to release the damn trailer, or at least give us a solid date so that we know when it will be out. I’m done with cutting the WB slack. They’ve used up all of their leeway, and all of my patience. I have zero sympathy for them anymore.

This rant has been brought to you by the letter S. S as in “Screw you if you tell me to calm down and be patient!” LOL.

It felt good to let that out.

Avatar Image says:

aw shucks, i was looking forward to seeing it soon. =(

HSM 3 is even lauching it’s trailer soon and it comes out early than Harry Potter. =S

Avatar Image says:

I agree with LemonFaerie and Madeline!!! It would of made brilliant marketing sense to release it in front of The Dark Knight and for they not to, well it makes me wonder if the post production are running behind. I will say though I did think a couple of weeks ago that they’ll probably won’t bother with a teaser and just go straight into a full trailer, especially now that it’s not being released with Dark Knight (which I had thought it would of been attached to).

AH well, I’ll go back to my frothing at the mouth and ripping my hair, checking Leaky a couple of times a day… hoping beyond hope for something, even more pics ( those pics we just got were rather wonderful!).

Avatar Image says:

As a person in the industry I’m going to have to jump in here and give WB some back up.

As much as I want to see a trailer, we have no idea what is going on inside WB to cause the trailer to be released as late as it is. Who knows, they could have a massive amount of CGI work (Which we all know they do, they are relying more and more on that for entire scenes now (IE the cave scene is almost entirely CGI)) and that is causing them to be delayed. They do a lot of blue/green screen work (Dumbledore has a green screen glove on for almost the entire movie) and they are not going to make a trailer without having that in there.

Let’s get real here. The Indiana Jones trailer (a movie that I’ve known has been in the works since before I entered high school (I just graduated college)) only came out in February. The movie premiered in May. We’ve all been pretty spoiled having WB release teaser trailers and then trailers months in advanced. But these movies are now getting more and more intense. We’re pretty spoiled that we’re getting two more movies after this and an encyclopedia as is!

IF it comes out with The 3rd Mummy (which is premiering in LA on the 27th and releasing on the 1st) then that’s really not that much longer than if it was with the Dark Knight. The Mummy is a Universal Pictures film (the premiere is even on the lot) but it wouldn’t be odd to find the trailer in front of that film, WB and Universal work together often (the lots share a street). The Star Wars movie (which is a LucasFilm production as is everything Star Wars, that is George Lucas’s own company) is a bigger stretch for me to believe.

While I understand the anger that it’s not coming out in 10 days, they are not going to just not put one out there. And when it does come out, it will be worth the wait, in the same way that the movie will be.

Avatar Image says:

Wha??? This is just getting ridiculous now.

Avatar Image says:

Paolo: “Clone Wars? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT MOVIE!”

First off, the Star Wars fandom is just as big… secondly, they’d want it to be attached to a movie that might need a little PR boost.

Honestly people… it’s a trailer… get over it! It’s not like they’re postponing the film!

Avatar Image says:

beckett: Well said!

Though I’ll just add that “Clone Wars” is being distributed by WB.

Avatar Image says:

Yeah, m, how DARE we want the WB to act like they actually give a flying f* about this movie?! We’re so unreasonable! It’s UNTHINKABLE that we’d actually want them to promote it with the same enthusiasm other movies are getting! It’s madness, I tell you, MADNESS!

Come off it. The WB are being total asshats about this. The end.

Avatar Image says:

You know what, I don’t really care if it’s gonna be attached to a movie… at least put it online!

Avatar Image says:

Beckett, I understand your point about the long wait for the Indiana Jones trailer, but it does not reassure me. Besides, the website for that film was up for a LONG time prior to that, so there was marketing going on, there was huge buzz about it because Harrison Ford was coming back, all the time between films, etc., etc. The two cases are not really the same. Plus, honestly, the fourth Indy was a HUGE let down. (And I say that as an enormous Indy fan, I was looking forward to that movie for YEARS.) I think they waited as long as possible to create a fever pitch right before the release to get as many bodies in their seats before the true opinions about it came out. Even releasing it first at Cannes, they must have gotten guarantees from the critics ahead of time that they wouldn’t trash it, or else they lucked out with some seriously blinded-by-sentimentality-critics, or they never would have risked that sort of opening.

So, either HBP is going to be horrible and they don’t want to give us too much time to tear the trailer apart, or something is wrong, or they are just making a terrible mistake with their marketing campaign. (I had to laugh at the person who posted that there is no HBP movie, that is why there is no trailer, LOL, it almost does feel like that, doesn’t it?) Look at the BRILLIANT viral marketing campaign that has gone on for Batman. Why would they not want the same for HBP?

As for the amount of time it takes for the CGI, yes that is true, but OoTP was STILL FILMING when we got that teaser in front of Happy Feet! There is no way that four months before the film’s release they would not have enough footage to choose from to put together a one to two minute teaser or regular trailer. Which brings me back to either there is something wrong, or in this case, they are hoping to boost the ticket sales for one of their films that is not likely to do well on it’s own at the expense of doing a proper marketing campaign for HBP.

Yes, I am ticked off.

Avatar Image says:

doesn’t WB usually send off the titles of the trailers to be released w/ the movie under fake names? i read somewhere that movies that are expected to be massive usually have fake names, like OOTP was sent off under the name “THE RAVEN” or something along those lines. so we could still get one, and its only official when WB says so.. i hope they say so soon

Avatar Image says:

Plus, for m and others, the point of a trailer is to promote the film it is a trailer OF, not to try to boost sales to a movie not many people want to see (even a lot of the Star Wars fans in the case of the new Clone Wars movie.)

How many people truly usually know what trailers they are going to see in front of whatever movie they are going to and choose it for that reason? I am guessing close to zero, other than HP fans and some of the other big movie trailer premieres (like Batman, or whatever.) The rest of the year I do not choose my movies based on what trailer I may get to see. So for WB to count on HP fans to boost their ticket sales for a crummy movie, just to see our trailer which will be online 24 hours later, seems not the brightest strategy.

I will repeat: they should be a lot more concerned about drumming up the excitement for HBP itself, and not with the HP fans who will be there no matter what. Putting the trailer in front of a heavily anticipated movie like the Dark Knight would reach the widest audience to get them excited to come back in November. This is just poor, poor marketing, aside from being irritating as hell to HP fans who only want a little peak at something to tide us over for the next four months. Grrrrr

And I am done ranting for the day. I think. :)

Avatar Image says:

NO WAY!!! AS LATE AS AUGUST 15TH???? And i was so sure it would come out with Get Smart!!! This is just ridiculous!!! Why on earth would WB wait until three and a half months before the movie to release the teaser trailer???? = [

Avatar Image says:

Siriusly?! This is crap! Here’s a tip for you, WB, from a mere thirteen year old HP fan. PUT UP THE TRAILER, OR PEOPLE ARE GOING TO LOSE INTEREST! I swear, if it’s not in the Batman, I’ll chuck my ICEE at the screen. Or the person sitting next to me. As excited as I am for this movie, I don’t think it would hurt at this stage of the game to put up a teaser trailer.

Avatar Image says:

Great! Now I have no reason that Dark Knight movie.

Avatar Image says:

we, you just made my heart do a fericioud dance of joy with the pictures, and then you just smashed my heart to a thousand of little pieces!!!!!!!!!! wave hanky @ WB in disgust sitll, the pictures will hold us off for a while. sigh

Avatar Image says:

Geez, calm down, kids. If the lack of a Harry Potter trailer is that upsetting, go play outside in the sun a little bit.

There’s probably just some logistical reason for not showing a trailer yet. For example, the effects on Dumbledore’s burnt hand isn’t going to be complete until post-production, and they can’t really do a trailer for HBP without Dumbledore in it, or show Dumbledore wearing a glove.

Avatar Image says:

At that rate, they might as well just do the actual trailer and forget the teaser. Oh, and they should make it three and a half minutes as well!

On second thought, three and a half minutes is too long. They should just split it to two 2 minute trailers and show one before one movie and the other before a different movie. _

Avatar Image says:

LemonFaerie, I have agreed with almost everything you’ve said. Thanks for putting my thoughts into words for me! :)

Avatar Image says:

Im as old as the making of Indy 4, ” the last crusade” came out the year I was born. I am a Star Wars and HP fan, and I am not all that interested in seeing the clone wars. In my opinion nothing happened between the attack of the clones and revenge of the sith. I would only be interested in it if they picked up where Return of the Jedi left off- but I think Carrie and Harrison are a little too old to play Leia and Han, I just always wanted to see them get married on screen. Same with Mark. Anyhoo, I think that our odds should now be set on The Mummy 3. to me that sounds alot more likely than the clone wars.

Avatar Image says:

I find this whole thing annoying…. I just may not even go see the dang movie in the theater when it comes out… Just download it off the net for free in protest!

Avatar Image says:

It does kind of seem like there isn’t really a movie out there… I mean, yeah, we’ve been getting a few promo shots, but not having a teaser trailer at this point is just weird. Yeah, its Harry Potter and the other five movies have held their own, I’d say, but still. There are expectations.

Avatar Image says:

Maybe it’ll be released with “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” (August 6)...it’s WB and it’s rated PG-13. I don’t know why they would attach it there since it’s not geared toward a wide range of audiences…

Avatar Image says:

DID SOMEBODY SAY HARRISON FORD? Harrison Ford (and Indiana Jones) is awesome. But anyway, I have a feeling that they’ll release it when we least expect it- say, next week or this Sunday or something. Just as long as they release it in the next two months I’ll be happy. I’m not getting mad at WB for not putting a trailer with a movie that I only want to see for the Joker. I will get mad, however, if they fail to release it before August 31. September = too late. Maybe the trailer is out (at movie theaters where the film is delivered) and it is so good and all the movie theater employees are secretly watching it over and over and keeping it to themselves lol. I’ve got a feeling it’ll be released with one of these movies: • Mamma Mia! • Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D • Hellboy 2: The Golden Army • The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor • Star Wars: The Clone Wars • Also, I think that ComingSoon.com is lying, and it may be with The Dark Knight

Avatar Image says:

it doesn’t really matter whether it’s marketed sooner or later, tons of people are going to see it regardless and it’s going to make millions, that much is at least obvious.

Avatar Image says:

Must have trailer!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I have heard that the teaser will be attached to the IMAX version of Dark Knight only… We shall see…

Avatar Image says:

It’s interesting… Twilight comes out about 3 weeks after HBP, yet its teaser trailer has been out for weeks!!! Is there some big secret here? I mean, its not like we don’t know the story line already!!!! Anxiously awaiting ANY HBP trailer!!

Avatar Image says:

For Merlin’s sake! If it’s taking them THIS long to get a teaser together, let’s hope that WB’s next announcement isn’t that they’re pushing the film back another eight months. We’re already pissed off enough as it is. What the eff is wrong with them?

Avatar Image says:

Wha…wha… WHAT?

Avatar Image says:

God!! Batman release is on my birthday and I was so expecting to see the trailer as a birthday present!

I was already picturing the black screen with “for Thio” in white letters, just before the trailer began…

...Narcissist? Me? Noooooooooo… =p

I just hope WB is lying! I don’t know if I can wait until august! ><

Avatar Image says:

The thing is, WB hasn’t said anything. I know ComingSoon is usually a reliable source (though not always), but it seems a little shady that they won’t reveal how they confirmed the trailer lineup. The only reliable confirmation would come from WB themselves, and it doesn’t seem likely that they would only confirm it to only one website.

Avatar Image says:

I’m getting bored of waiting…I’m really starting not to care. Maybe they’re going to release the movie late or something, and that’s why we don’t have a teaser trailer yet. Seriously, they don’t take that much effort! The teaser trailer for the DaVinci Code was just the Mona Lisa, and the title of the movie! Would it kill WB to give us something?

Avatar Image says:

I’m so tried of getting my hopes up!!!!!!!!!!!.......I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

NNNoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Why are they doing this to us???? I want it NOW. I do not want to wait another MONTH! Omigod!

Avatar Image says:

I don’t believe there’s a movie anymore. They built some sets, waved around wands, and took some pictures. They didn’t film anything. They just took pictures to taunt us.

It feels that way, at least. If they don’t release something soon, I’m losing it. Even Star Trek, which isn’t out until 2009, has their little teaser thingy out. You can’t see anything, or learn anything, or really get any clue about what is going on, but at least it’s there. Darn it, WB! You toy with me so!

And Clone Wars? Really? Not before the biggest movie of the summer from your own studio, but Clone Wars? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Avatar Image says:

Oh! You are right Dave! It was not WB who announced it. I should read better before writing!

But hey!! What if we refuse to see the movie if the trailer doesn’t come out in a week? We could do a major boicot and stay home doing cross-words instead of going to the movies to see Half Blood Prince….

So?! WHO’S WITH ME??

...nobody?... oh… well…..

Avatar Image says:

People, CHILL OUT, the movie WILL come on November 21st, regardless of when the/if the teaser comes out. No matter how much this aggravates you, you know damn well you’ll all see the movie anyway. xD

Avatar Image says:

Well, I guess I’ll be watching the trailer online…

Avatar Image says:

well actually, I dont want to see the tralier for next movie, I KNOW WHAT YOUR THINKING …. I have read all the books and i practiclly know everything that will happen but i still want to have somthing to look foward to other than wacthing the movie. I mean its so exciting not even knowing how everyone will look like in the film or the places that are going to be shown! Its so EXCITING! SOOOOO… when i finally see the film, i’ll totally be not expecting anything INSTEDAD of wacthing the tralier (which normally shows every little detail of movie) and instead of saying, “the movie isn’t going to end beacuse i haven’t seen that clip from the trailer yet” and ” omg! the movies is going to end because i’ve seen all the clips from the tralier!and none are left! ” I’ll actually be saying, ” WOW! COOL! AMAZING! (thunder strikes)”

Avatar Image says:

This just occured to me. Has anyone realize that The Dark Night isn’t the only movie coming out July 18? Mamma Mia is also coming out that same day!!!!!!!!!!!!! WB is, what’s the word…. Imaginitive when it comes to traliers being released. Just look at OotP. Happy Feet? Give me a break! Also Julie Walters is in Mamma Mia. That will make Broadway fans happy!

Avatar Image says:

ofcourse… geez stupid WB get a move on!

Avatar Image says:

Seriously, what is Warner Bros. playing at? By the time they release a teaser trailer, it’s going to be time to release the regular and international trailer!

Avatar Image says:

you guys need to chill out,do you honestly believe that because a trailer comes out 3 months before the movie and because you are so impatient that you will lose all interest and actually not see the film….........no.idiots are everywhere, people will see the movie who just want to see the trailer and who are mildly interested in the film, therefore the movie company that pays WB the most will be shown on the same reel.every company knows that HP is bigger than the movie that the trailer will be shown with so of course every company wants to have HP attached to it but thats the problem because there is basically a bid for the trailer and whether WB has it attached to one of their own movies.

Avatar Image says:

What a….... it isn’t fair, how long can they let us wait….....

I was really hoping to see the trailer next week, but I think they are waiting until october…

Avatar Image says:

sigh I can’t bring myself to read through 12 pages of comments. I really had hoped, like everyone else, that we’d get a Harry Potter trailer with Batman. Please, not the Star Wars thing. I have no intention of seeing that one, based on the latest three offerings.

No, not having the trailer doesn’t make me lose interest or not want to see the movie. What it does, however, is make me wonder if there is going to be some delay in the release date for the movie. I just can’t see what the big hold up is unless there are some technical issues that WB isn’t talking about. Is there any word on whether everything else is still on schedule?

Avatar Image says:

Uh oh. WB is taking the fans for granted. Big mistake.

Avatar Image says:

“WB needs to reach EVERYONE ELSE, all the people who like the movies but don’t live for them the way we do. What better time or way to do that than releasing the trailer in front of the biggest movie of the summer, The Dark Knight?”

The majority, a very large majority, of the audience who will go and see HBP, if not more, not only aren’t rabid fans like the people here, they probably haven’t even read the books, they only know HP through the movies.

A big percentage of these people won’t even begin to pay attention to the advertising for HBP until a couple of weeks out from the release of the film in November (or December if you live in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand).

Yes, as big fans of the Potter universe we want to see stills and trailers and all the rest, but they marketing strategy isn’t about us, it’s about the people who are going to choose between seeing this film and the other films out at the same time.

Yes, it’s good to put a teaser in front of a big film like TDK, but the majority of the audience will forget about it within days of seeing the trailers. They will pay far more attention closer to release when the trailers are playing on TV, the stars are being interviewed on all the talk shows and the posters start appearing on the sides of buses and on billboards along the side of the motorway.

WB know we will show up, even if we grumble and carry on and say we won’t.

To be honest, and I know this puts me in the minority here, I am preferring the low key approach. I think they have tended to overdo it in the past. It’s not that I wouldn’t love to see a teaser now, I would, but I like not to have seen the whole film before I go to see it, and I really felt that way sometimes previously, especially with GOF.

Avatar Image says:

Wow, way to go Warner… Warner sucks… Disney puts out trailers a year before movies… You guys can’t even get one 5 months before? Give me a break…

Avatar Image says:

Seriously? Star Wars….? But I really want to go see it! (And Star Wars is just so very much not my thing!)

Hm.. I do have a Star Wars fan for a friens. Come August I just might have to get to know him (and his interest) a little better, so I can follow the movie ;-)

Avatar Image says:

gilyweed, I absolutely agree with every point you made. You nailed it. People are overreacting to the delay of a teaser. You’re not alone in preferring the low key approach that WB is taking; I also prefer it. Their new ‘Silent Promo’ strategy has actually made me more hyped up to see the movie than their past ‘Hit-them-with-all-we’ve-got’ strategy of releasing tons of pics and risking spoiling the anticipation of the movie. Can’t people see what an effect this Silent Promo strategy is having on HP fans, albeit a negative one? Fans are swarming the boards of every known HP fansite and movie site (comingsoon.net, MTV.com,etc) clamoring to get any piece of news about the trailer. Just this news post alone has garnered up to 200+ comments. WB has got a psyched-up fandom in the wings, just waiting for the teaser.

And when the teaser finally hits…all hell will break loose.

So, WB won’t need to promote it. We fans are already setting up the hype and anticipation ourselves, even though all we’re doing is complaining. But, any publicity has got to be good publicity right? Plus, it’s Harry Potter we’re talking about here , the highest-earning franchise in current cinema. The brand itself sells.

Also, there are quite a number of credible tip-offs from people working in various IMAX theatres that say they are preparing the prints for a 30 second HBP teaser and 1 min+ Watchmen trailer before The Dark Knight movie. So, I still have faith that we will get the HBP teaser on either the 18th or 19th of July. The comingsoon.net post only mentioned the trailer list for the regular TDK format, not the IMAX one…

Avatar Image says:

sigh…anyway why would WB even bother w/ a trailer,it’s just the fans who are so hype to see it…but they’ll watch the moive anyway…so why to bother w/ a trailer….boo.

Avatar Image says:

WTF.

This is just insanely riddiculous. I’m starting lose my faith that there really IS a film coming out. And more importantly I’m losing interest in this film altogether.

August 15 pretty much SUCKS. Why the heck don’t we even have a teaser?! Is there any logical reason behind this BS?

Avatar Image says:

I didn’t think david yates could get any worse but it looks like i was wrong!if only we could have chris columbus back! Sigh, if HBP will disappoint me like OTP i don’t even know if it’s worth watching DH1&2….As a HUGE HPfan (i’m a potterhead since97,feel betraied…they’re destroying HARRY!! Hope i am wrong….but i think the movie is going to be under our expectations

Avatar Image says:

this is the latest HP movie trailer ever! omg! it’s alrdy 2 months since filming is done..and it’s also v late in the HP calendar event..lol..for them to release a trailer…sighs* when will it come out?

Avatar Image says:

dear WB, YOU SUCK!

no love, from HP fans

Avatar Image says:

Gilyweed & Shain, can I complete the trio! (smiles). I completely agree although I do understand the frustration.

Avatar Image says:

Personally, I don’t think WB is going for a “low key approach.” I think they are just over swamped with marketing Dark Knight. I wouldn’t be surprised if their entire marketing team was handling the promotion of this film when you consider the the 15 or so viral ad websites they created, the bags of goodies from the media coming from “The Gotham Post Office,” the Gotham Cable News stories, etc. Trust me, sure we may not be “spoiled” now, but come September and October, WB will still bombard us with clips, pictures, and TV spots. So lets not kid ourselves into thinking WB doesn’t want to “overwhelm” us. It’s their job to jam this movie down our throats. So It will happen, just not in July.

Some one mentioned that the trailer could still be seen in front of the IMAX version, which to me, makes A LOT of sense, considering the only two up-coming films IMAX is promoting on their site is Dark Knight and Half-Blood Prince. At the very least, There should be a promotional poster for IMAX (you’d think…).

Avatar Image says:

I agree with you mollywobble that they are focused on TDK at the moment, and that we will get more after it is released, but they have had other big releases before HP films before and they still put teasers and stills out months in advance, they are doing it differently this time.

I wasn’t saying I don’t expect them not to overwhelm us closer to movie time, in fact I said in my comments about them doing that close to release with the billboards, TV commercials, interviews etc, it’s just that we aren’t getting the early flood of stuff we got in the past, and I don’t have a huge issue with it.

Avatar Image says:

I would rather “SEE” a “REAL” trailer than a teaser trailer anyway and WB has “NEVER” promised any kind of trailer before any of these films they are just “rumors”........I rather like the fact that not as much news is coming for this film as the surprse will be more wonderful when I see it…...There obviously IS a film as we have seen stills already.

Avatar Image says:

you want my prediction? I reckon they will do an exclusive at Comicon

Avatar Image says:

Hey ||

I dont know why but i think u r credible… So if i am right can u please give us some further info about the cave scene and the battles…and anything that has a bit of andventure in the hbp movie? And about the teaser…is that true that it will be only 30 seconds in front of The Dark Knight :The I – Max Experience…?And can u tell more about u…?Why we should trust u…?Are u working on the movie or something..? Give us smth just to believe u..to believe u r saying the truth!

Avatar Image says:

So, I just saw a comment posted by II who tells us that he’s actually working (?) for the film or something like that. Well, if you’re saying the truth then reveal something. A tidbit about the teaser trailer since you passionately say that it’s NOT removed from the Dark Knight:The Imax Experience. Tell us something about the footage of the trailer.Only something small. And we’ll see if you’re telling the truth. I don’t know if we should trust you. There have been several people who claimed to work for HP, to know all the details of the film etc.simple nonsense. Now, if you can tell us more about the climax of the film…I would appreciate it. Mostly about the battle at Hogwarts. Is it going to be…what? Impressive?Longer than this in the book?Tell us something. Try, at least…I want to believe you but I don’t know with all those losers who claim to work for the film…That’s it and forgive my bad attitude.I’m very angry with all this stuff that’s going on with this film.

Avatar Image says:

WLF?? omg didnt they say tht the first teaser was going 2 come out on the 16th may????? they might as well show it the day the film is realesed!!!!1

Avatar Image says:

Gillyweed, I see what you mean. I guess the question becomes “Why is this film different from previous HP films?” At first, when we didn’t get the trailer in May, I assumed WB wanted to wait a full year between the time OotP was released and the release of theTeaser for HBP. I was defending WB, because to me, it made a lot of sense to wait a year, PLUS put it in front of the biggest summer flick of the year.

To me, it just doesn’t make sense, from a marketing stand point to wait, unless, 1) they feel it’s unnecessary to promote HBP early, 2) they are too busy promoting Dark Knight, 3) They’re not ready to release a trailer.

Personally, I feel it’s a combination of the first two. Honestly, with the amount of news we’ve heard about Deathly Hallows, and the little we know about HBP, I’m worried that WB hasn’t put as much effort into this film as past episodes, and is instead focusing their attention on DH. I hope I’m just being paranoid.

Avatar Image says:

This is just like when we were all waiting for the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 3, where they never even made a teaser trailer, just one long official decent trailer like a month or so before the movie after a LONG wait. Please not this time! Hurry up WB!!

Avatar Image says:

i’m getting really tired with no teaser. by the time WB gets it out they should just put out the full trailer. MAYBE they’ll show it before hellboy 2 the golden army, journey to the center of the earth OR fingers crossed the highly intisapated Mamma Mia! my bets on mamma mia since that movie was so big on brodway or whatever.

Avatar Image says:

Well I still fully intend to go see “The Dark Knight”, but Warner Bros needs to come off it and produce us with something. We have only 4 months till the movie comes out!

Avatar Image says:

Sorry, but people need to just stop making scientific theories and maybe settle down with “WB is not done with editing or whatever with HBP.” Isn’t that a possibility?

And to all the people who are “not interested” in HBP or are saying that they might not even go watch the new movie, be quiet. You know you will, and you know you`ll probably be the first ones saying “I can’t wait to see this movie!!” when the trailer comes out. So be patient – we`ll all see a trailer soon.

Avatar Image says:

Shit! Shit! I HATE IT…......... ARGHhhh…. i hate WB….

Avatar Image says:

I think I agree with DeathlyH, and some other people- why would it not come out with the Dark Knight? I think its alittle strange- and personally dont believe it? or perhaps like everyone else Im so sick of getting my hopes up that Im in sirius denial. This is like a human being torturing a poor cat with a ball of string- ” you want the ball- come get it” right before we reach it , its gone- nothing there. WB is toying with our heads- evil death eaters!

Avatar Image says:

how about quitting being pathetic and grow up, some of you. there’s some really good comments back there from people that agree with me—one guy said wb don’t owe you anything. he’s right. the film will come out when it comes out, teaser trailer or not, and you get get over the whining and complaining. that behavior makes you look foolish.

after all, it doesn’t do to dwell on dreams—and forget to live.

Avatar Image says:

That is very true joseph!! And I agree with you on the Dumbledore quote… But I just think it is fun to come here and complain about WB. =p

I don’t think anybody really hates WB, after all, they did give us 5 movies so far! But the anticipation is such that we do need something to focus our anxiety on… and what better way to come here and say foolish things to other people who understands all this anxiety?

I think most people come to this site to dream a little… I mean… it is a site for Harry Potter fans! It is a site for that little part of us that refuses to grow up… So I guess what I’m trying to say is that I see no problem in being pathetic, whining and imature around here once in a while… We can all be grown-up’s once we close the browser.

Avatar Image says:

“I think most people come to this site to dream a little… It is a site for that little part of us that refuses to grow up” – Amen that Thio!

Avatar Image says:

You’re completely right, Thio. Well put!

Avatar Image says:

hurry up WB its really frustrating please stop treasing everyone in the world and hurry up !!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Well, I’m an adult, and as others my age will know, a year flies by in no time. So, 4 months doesn’t seem so far away (so much to do, so little time). But, I am starting to feel really sorry for all these kids who are so anxious for the trailer. I know for my children, a week can seem like months when it comes to waiting for something they really want. So, for the sake of the young ones (who I don’t want to be wishing their summer away), I hope this trailer is released soon, I’m sure it is very frustrating for all of them.

Avatar Image says:

Wow. What kind of game is WB playing??

They know fans are impatient. They know that people who DON’T check sites like these have had almost no clue that this movie has been happening for a while.

Is there a CHANCE that the trailer will premiere ONLINE before it hits cinemas? Anybody know? >:(

Avatar Image says:

I am hopin comingsoon.com is just messing with us…. ALL WILL BE FORGIVEN!..if it really does show with the dark knight :)

Avatar Image says:

I commented earlier, but just a heads up: Elizabeth Spriggs, who played the fat lady in the first Harry Potter film, died a couple of days ago. =( Sad news. She was a great British actress!

Also, the more and more I think about it…the more I respect WB’s decision or delay (whatever you want to call it!) on releasing the trailer. I feel that we owe them our patience considering the amount of dedication and hard work they have put into these films. Of course, I, like others, would love to have a teaser now, but I don’t feel any anger towards WB.

Avatar Image says:

and still we have to wait

Avatar Image says:

And still we have to wait MORE time for this trailer , this better be the best trailer, out of all of them , like heart stopping, jaw dropping, pee in your oants from excitement good!

Avatar Image says:

What a shock,

NEXT!!!

John B.

Avatar Image says:

Who cares? As long as I see the movie…

Avatar Image says:

I mean, if WB said they were cutting the entire HBP movie I would be very upset. It’s just a trailer people!

Avatar Image says:

Le poo. You know Warner Bros should take heed of just how many comments are on this news item. Look hittin 14 pages at the mo. People want the trailer WB!! Well according to the official Clone Wars site we only have 36 Days 1 Hour 17 mins and 36 secs left to wait to get that trailer. You know I love Star Wars but part of me can’t believe I’m gonna be seeing ANOTHER Star Wars movie in a month!

Avatar Image says:

Honestly, I really don’t think its like most of us are demanding they gave us the trailer now. I mean would we like to have it now? Of course we would, but I think what really has most of us pulling our hair out has more to do with that WB isn’t bothering to deny any of these more believable and widespread rumors like this one and won’t give us just a rough timeline of when we can possibly expect a trailer or if there will even be a teaser/trailer at all so alot of us get our hopes up and when we hear that yet another one of these rumors is untrue, we understandably become disappointed and irritated due to such a huge lack of news. I don’t want them to give us so much that they give away the whole movie like they have occassionally done in the past, but at least a teaser/trailer and a few tid-bits here and there. I mean just throw us a bone once in a while. I feel like over the years we have gotten used to a certain treatment/amount of news from WB regarding these films because they have almost always given us so much in between films, but they just don’t quite seem to be following up that way this time around. Sorry for the long post, but I just felt the need to express all of this.

Avatar Image says:

WHAT?? doesn’t warner brothers realize that this is ticking people off now???? it is NOT creating suspense whatsoever. Harry potter fans want a trailer NOW!! And who exactly wants to waste money to go see that star wars movie? even star wars fans don’t want to go see that. This new cartoon version is as bad as the lego version of star wars. is WB unaware that the majority of harry potter fans would rather see the trailer online then go to that movie? WB would be smarter to release the trailer in front of a movie that will get more people coming in because then harry potter fans will still go see the movie along with the crowds that go to see the movie itself, bringing in a LOT more money and publicity.

Avatar Image says:

wow it’s so late even now, and it’s still not here not even with batman. omg it might be out on my birthday august 15!! but it’s SOOO LATE for the teaser…. =\

Avatar Image says:

You’re so right, ||

Thank you very much for the tips!

Avatar Image says:

Somewhat of a good move. Star Wars is the best Sci-Fi movie and 3rd best Movie Saga, only behind James bond and Harry Potter. Its just it will take so long, Come on guys, Star Wars is actually good. It will make more people see Harry Potter, I know a lot of folks who love Star Wars.

Avatar Image says:

Many people here complain that they are “losing interest” with the film because they haven’t seen the trailer yet. Funny. The books didn’t come with trailers but we didn’t lose interest then. So what’s the difference?

Also it’s been stated that WB is losing people and pissing people off by not releasing it next week. Look at this board. It’s just drummed up more talk about the movie by “not releasing it”. And we don’t even know if that’s true. We’re going off a website. It could be going with Mamma Mia or any other movie coming out next week.

Also? David Yates is not to blame. An entirely different company often gets contracted to create the trailer. Quite possibly it’s simply that the CGI/Post departments are having issues finishing the work on certain scenes that the Executive Producers said needed to be in the trailer and therefore it was delayed in going to the other company.

Or simply they felt the need to wait. Because after all, by February of last year I had seen all the trailers. The Dark Knight was ridiculously over publicized maybe WB has learned to scale back a bit.

Avatar Image says:

And for those who says this new Star Wars movie will suck, heres a thing. Its not being Directed by George Lucas. Like the good old days.

Avatar Image says:

The Dark Knight was ridiculously over publicized just like OOTP. They should have learned by then

Avatar Image says:

god, i’m soooo pissed off - what are they WAITING for???! i am sooo much more excited for Twilight to come out now, more than this…I mean, at least Twilight already has a teaser trailer out - xx

Avatar Image says:

GRRRR!!!!!!! WB ARE THE MST ANNOYING PEOPLE EVER!!!! The new movie for emma (the tale of deasperuax) is com,ing out in Decembr, and we already have that trailier???? What the heck? You can’t release a trailer for a movie in NOVEMBER in AUGUST!!!!!! this is just wrong

Avatar Image says:

hmmmmm lets look at the poll now, people. Not released in front of any of these movies.Whos mad? I AM!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

what the heck! i seriously wanna talk to WB at this moment – - i mean, twilight’s coming out like on december and it’s teaser trailer’s already out and harry potter 6 is coming out november and it’s teaser trailer’s going to come out mid-August!! - – i bet the REAL trailer for twilight’s gonna be out by then.

goodbye, habit of researching “harry potter and the half blood prince official trailer” every time i go to youtube – -

DEAR WB, IM SERIOUSLY PISSED

Avatar Image says:

I’ve got 2 theorys to whats going on.

1st of all on mugglenet they said that the traier might be out infront of the mummy 3 on august 1 because they need to boost the ticket sales.

my 2nd theory is that the teaser is infront of TDK but wb is just teasing us. ive also been hearing stuff like the HBP teaser will be infront of the TDK imax version.

Avatar Image says:

WB is not dumb. They have a built-in audience, us. we will go see the movie 4 times in the first day even if there is no teaser, it doesnt need the usual hoopla, all the advertisement they need is right here, we pine over the movie and they save boatloads of money on promotion.

it’s not like nobody knows theres gonna be a new HP movie.

Avatar Image says:

Oh, WTH?! Just wrong. So wrong.

Avatar Image says:

WHAT?!! THERE IS A NEW HP MOVIE?? How come I didn’t see any trailer? Oo

Just kidding…. =9

So! Almost 300 comments!! C’mon!! We can get there!! \o/

Avatar Image says:

Yay Twilight!

Still, more excited about Potter though. I like that there is no trailer. I want the movie to be a total surprise. Maybe the pictures released were the teaser. Though not a trailer it still teased us. hehe

Avatar Image says:

Good call, Beckett.

Also, true HP fans aren’t going to lose interest because they have to wait a few more weeks for a teaser trailer. If anything, trailers make me even more impatient for the movie! I think the pictures are fun and it’s exciting to guess how it’ll all come together. Patience is a virtue for sure – and I think all HP fans know how to practice patience. :o)

Avatar Image says:

To all the WB apologists out there let me tell you this… You say WB does not owe us anything? Are you serious? I will tell you what they owe us: They owe us their corporate jets… their Rolls Royces, and Bentleys, their Hollywood mansions, their reserved tables at Spagos, their wives boob jobs and face lifts, or husbands enlargement surgeries, Their kids private school tuition’s, and their dental work, etc, etc, etc… You tell us to get real?... HAH!!! you get real… Without the movie going public there IS no WB… We support them…. Have you heard of the saying that one should never bite the hand that feeds you?

Avatar Image says:

I didn’t think david yates could get any worse but it looks like i was wrong! GODDAMNIT! I’m so effing sick of people nagging and crying about how “bad” David Yates is. He is NOT bad. He is NOT terrible and he did NOT get “worse”. He was never “worse” anyway! I think a lot of people are just pissed off at how OOTP was put together. Maybe your favorite scene wasn’t in there, maybe some parts were cut, who the freak cares? You have the damn book! & it’s not all up to Yates to do this – he didn’t just say “Oh, let’s cut this part out on purpose to make those die-hard fans pissed off! Oh yay, I’m so flipping excited!” I’m pretty sure cuts have to do with the writer, and blah blah blah! So to the people who are pissed off at Yates, shut up.

As for the trailer, I was very impatient when I heard about this news, but now, I don’t really care all that much when we get one. I’m pretty sure we’ll get one soon, or by the end of this summer maybe. So I’m not all that pissed off. We’ll see a trailer when we see a trailer.

The books didn’t come with trailers but we didn’t lose interest then. So what’s the difference? Haha. Good point. =)

Avatar Image says:

lol. RIGHT ON, Won_Two!

Avatar Image says:

Yay Christine! Totally agree with you!

Won_Two, I don’t see how they are biting our hands? They are just trying to get us more excited. Maybe they want this one to be a huge surprise for all the fans. Maybe they are trying to do US a favor. Though saying a trailer will be out with every movie, not so much though they didn’t say that at all. It was an assumption that there would be a trailer because all movies have trailers. Harry Potter is so different from all movies. It is so much more important and special. Next time you get mad just think, “Maybe they are doing US a favor.”

Avatar Image says:

It looks to like there are some fans here who would benefit from anger management classes. Most of us are able to come here and vent about our personal opinions (for good or bad) about the films, the director, the changes, the lack of a trailer, too many trailers or whatever without going off the deep end, but a few, like Christine above, are having a little trouble. I will repost something I wrote on a different news comments section:

I believe that everyone on here is an HP fan. Let’s stop bashing each other. The people who are unhappy about the changes they make for the films have every right to come here and complain about it, that is what the comments are FOR. Commentary. Opinion. If you are NOT unhappy about the changes, this is also the spot to come say so. The two points of view do not have to agree. But telling someone who disagrees with you that they need to grow up, stop whining or get a life, or that they are being stupid, childish, idiotic, mean, whatever, has no place here. Just say you disagree. Secondly, whichever side of the issue you are on, if you can’t express yourself without resorting to foul language or name-calling, please keep it to yourself. Thanks.

So, Christine, not to single you out, but as yours is the post on this particular page (there are plenty of others like it, though, on both sides of the issue), I am very glad that you are fine with waiting for the trailer and happy with David Yates and his directorial style. There are others here, whose opinion is JUST AS valid as yours, who disagree about waiting and want to vent, or who disagree with your opinion about Yates to various degrees. Some people, like me, think he did an OK job on some parts and really fell down on others. Some people hate everything he did. A lot of them. And they have their reasons. Telling them to “shut up” is inappropriate.

BTW, the process of determining what goes into a film and what gets cut is a collaborative one and the director is indeed heavily involved. In fact, he has the final say. So, if Yates wanted a scene in OoTP that wasn’t in the script, he would go to the writer and say, “Write me this scene.” If there was a scene in the script that he did NOT want in the film, he would go to the writer and say, “Lose me this scene.” That is why the directors get the big bucks, the big award categories and all the acclaim when a film does well and most of the blame when it does not.

So, when an HP fan goes to see an HP movie and is unhappy with how it turned out, the first one in line for the blame is the director. Like it or not. Screenwriter second.

I am not sure who to blame for the lack of a trailer. However, I have come to believe that it is a deliberate decision, it is part of their plan. Whether we will like the end result of that plan or not I can’t say, but I am sure it is not because they don’t want to give us a trailer or that there is a hang up with producing one, because those kinds of things are never kept quiet. Someone would have leaked it if there were trouble behind the scenes. So, irked or not, I’ll wait. :)

Avatar Image says:

LemonFaerie u make a really good point im part of the crew that doesn’t like david yates and there just opinions so no need for christine going off at anyone next time if you just want to go off at people who don’t like david yatess don’t bother writing comments at all.

Avatar Image says:

Can’t they just give us the trailer and have done with it?!! I mean, all this anticipation is almost worse than not getting a trailer at all! One vague hope comes up, only to be swallowed whole by another more promising rumor that dies out after a few days. Make something concrete for once, WB!

Avatar Image says:

Just a note to correct myself above, should have said it is the PRODUCERS who get the final say on what is in the films (which is why we sometimes get Director’s Cuts later, so they can show us what they didn’t get to in the theater) but they are still a big part of the decision making collaboration, so Yates and Heyman are both fair game if you’re unhappy with the included (or not included) scenes in the films, IMO. :)
