A number of media outlets are tonight reporting that after the recent announcement by Warner Bros. that the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, would be pushed back to a July 17, 2009 theatrical release, a decision was made by Summit Entertainment to move the release date for the upcoming “Twilight” film up to the now vacated date of November 21, 2008. The BBC has a report online which notes the recent ‘frenzy’ that was caused during the publication of the forth and final book in the series as one of the factors in this decision. News of this move for “Twilight,” which stars Harry Potter actor Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory), also made it over to MTV which quotes Rob Friedman from Summit Entertainment as saying they saw “a unique opportunity to slot in our film, which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months.”
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will now have its release on July 17, 2009.
I’m really dissapointed but at least on the bright side it means the movies will last longer. I just hope summit isn’t trying to make twilight like harry potter
LOVE BOTH books!! though
WB’s decision has nothing to do with Twilight and its producers so HP fans should stop moaning about other franchises. You should moan at WB.
Twilight’s producers have seen a gap in the market and taken it. Well donr to them for being sharp and savvy. They also support their fans while WB doesnt respect its HP fans. So your virtriole should be directed at WB alone.
Ok, ok, so now we know why Warner Bros. moved HBP -money…yep who knew? sarcastically I mean, c’mon, so if Twilight opens and doesn’t have to compete with HBP then they will get 2wice the income than they were going to! I have nothing watsoever against the Twilight film but we all should’ve known that it was the money factor again that’s holding them up, not their concern for the better of the fans. Ah, well, something we put up with almost everyday
Crap i was really looking forward to hpb. I grew up on on harry potter. i always liked the fact that in the movies they were the same age as i was it made me relate to it even more, and this twilight thing makes me even more mad even though WB has no link with twilight. i was thinking about reading twilight but now im too mad to think about it. i dont think i will see it now either. this is kinda making me a little depressed.
i forgot to say that now im going to be a few years older then them now and it wont be quite as relatable in a year. god i hate WB sooo much. they are horrible horrible human beings
This is the biggest bunch of bulls*!!!! I was actually considering reading Twilight, but after this, there is no way in hell I’m going to read it now or see the movie!!
OMG NOOOOOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAY! I HATE YOU WARNER BROS.!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHrips out hair
YUP UR JUST DOING THAT SO U HAV A BETA CHANCE OF GETTING AWARDS AND STUFF!!! WELL WHO CARES?? WE JUST WANT TO WATCH THE MOVIE!!!
YES TWILIGHT WILL BE GOOD BUT U CANT BE SERIOUS…UR SCARED OF THAT BEATING UR CHANCE FOR AN AWARD SO U CHANGE THE RELEASE TO LIKE A YEAR FROM NOW???? THATS JUST SAD
Those of you refusing to read/see Twilight now because WB moved HP to next year…pretty misdirected. I was looking forward to 2 months of holiday happy, too, but it isn’t going to happen. Am I going to protest Twilight? No. Direct your anger where it belongs: WB, not Twilight, and not Summit Entertainment.
Since there are apparently so many Twilight haters among the HP fanbase-which makes me sad, since I have loved HP for years-maybe I should stay away from HBP when it opens for a few weeks, so I can watch it in peace.
Twilight is just trying to ride the back of HP. The last book wasn’t very well received so they are trying to do whatever they can to get people to watch this movie.
Warner Brothers is just a money making racket and thats reason why they have moved the date of the Harry Potter film that are scared that their other film wount make as much for them, I havent even heard of the other one. Fans have been waiting ages for this film to come out and now they have gone and done this! I woundnt be surprised if they changed their minds again and make themselves look good! If they really need to delay the realease why cound they not move it to January? Anyway WB you havent really thought this through, what about all the pre- christmas mercandising you will miss out on! All those children whi will want the latest Harry potter toys? Bah humbug warner brothers!
Twilight is a Summit Entertainment isn’t it? I mean it doesn’t have anything to do with WB? If it does I am not going to watch it… Actually I am not going to watch a single WB movie till Harry Potter is out
"A little break," said Voldemort, the slit-like nostrils dilating with excitement, "a little pause... That hurt, didn't it, Harry? You don't want me to do that again, do you?"[br]Harry didn't answer. He was going to die like Cedric, those pitiless red eye
I’m really dissapointed but at least on the bright side it means the movies will last longer. I just hope summit isn’t trying to make twilight like harry potter LOVE BOTH books!! though
