A number of media outlets are tonight reporting that after the recent announcement by Warner Bros. that the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, would be pushed back to a July 17, 2009 theatrical release, a decision was made by Summit Entertainment to move the release date for the upcoming “Twilight” film up to the now vacated date of November 21, 2008. The BBC has a report online which notes the recent ‘frenzy’ that was caused during the publication of the forth and final book in the series as one of the factors in this decision. News of this move for “Twilight,” which stars Harry Potter actor Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory), also made it over to MTV which quotes Rob Friedman from Summit Entertainment as saying they saw “a unique opportunity to slot in our film, which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months.”
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will now have its release on July 17, 2009.
Howler Campaign
This is a Howler Campaign against the WB.
If you have not heard, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been moved from it’s November release date to JULY 2009!
Bottom line reason – they think they’ll make more money that way. They say another reason for doing so is the writer’s strike… THEY’VE ALREADY FINISHED FILMING! THEY’RE GOING TO START FILMING PART 7 IN FEBRUARY!!! So that’s just a BS reason.
There are plenty of on-line petitions against this popping up. Reality, on-line petitions don’t really work.
However, millions and millions of Harry Potter fans sending two or three or ten red enveloped letters to the WB Headquarters, just might actully catch there attention.

Maybe something like WB=Greed. Fans=Pissed. D.A. hates WB! or something else. I’m too mad to think of anything good right now.
Letter writing worked for Star Trek, it worked for Jerricho. It can work for this. Maybe even send a letter to your local media too. The last thing the WB wants is an angry stink over this showing up all over the news.
the books are totally different, hp is a whole world where twilight exists within our own more realistically, and i’m not saying that one’s better than the other because you CAN’T COMPARE THEM!! i love both series equally though hp was the first series that made me love books:).
and excuse me Mr. Book Dweeb, Breaking Dawn was NOT a dissapointment, steph meyer made it unique by breaking it up into 3 books within a book from 2 people’s perspectives.
AND steph meyer even has a respect for the hp books so stop bashing her too eveybody!!! stop taking your anger from the move of the hp movie out on twilight just because summit was smart to move it up with no more hp competition.
okay, rant over

this is crap! I used to LOVE twilight (not as much as HP) and I went to the breaking Dawn release like a lot of others, but that book was BAD!
Now suddenly I have to wait a year to see the movie I really love, and only a few months to see something that’s probably gonna be bad anyway, by the looks of it.
Without having to compete with HP now, Twilight will probably be huge – I agree with A., I was thrilled to have both of them this fall! Now I’ll just have to settle for the Twilight movie – at least it looks pretty good and I have a feeling it’s going to be HUGE for Pattinson…
I’m not mad about this at all. July is just the best time for the movie. Because I think I would rather see the movie in my free time when I’m not preoccupied by school etc. And I love Twilight, so the fact that it’s on instead makes me happy. Also, the gap between HBP and DH movies is much smaller now. I’m trying to think positive people!!
Hehehe..noe I’m even more tempted, when i go see te movie, to shout “Edward is a Huuflepuff!!” everytime he comes on screen.

This is incredibly rediculous. They are only postponing the freaking movie so that they can get more money off of it, but it will probably get an equal amount of money in the summer as it would have during thanksgiving weekend.
Just a note – I watched the Clone Wars this weekend and they had the Harry Potter trailer with “November” at the end… maybe they didn’t get enough time to pull the trailer? Or is there hope?
Dont boycott HBP, Boycott Twighlight dont hurt HP …. Which u wont do anyway youll probably go see it at midnight like everyone else. so quit posting crap that u and everyone elsse knows is crap
I dont think the reason for changing the movies is because one is better than the other. in fact i think its because harry potter will sell more tickets in the summer. actually HBP is getting a better date, but of course we all want to watch it in november.
Enough twilight hate! twilight has come a long way in a short time and is definetely not to be underestimated. Summit knows how to treat their fans and Warner Brothers doesn’t! Obviously, Harry Potter is bigger, but they’ve had forever to get to that. WB is really goanna get hung by doing this.. those reasons are ridiculous. I, for one, am very happy to get twilight sooner, but next summer for harry potter?!? are they trying to kill me?!?
I might have been interested to see this Twilight thing in cinema, before this terrible offence of WB. But bahh, no way, They wan’t get any more money from me from now on. A nice pirat copy will do.
"You haven't got a letter on yours," George observed. "I suppose she thinks you don't forget your name. But we're not stupid -- we know we're
called Gred and Forge."
