Alan Horn, the president and chief operating officer of Warner Bros., has issued another statement about the move of the Half-Blood Prince movie to July 2009; in this statement he addresses the fans directly (as far as we know, this statement has only been sent to fan sites) and says that the decision to move the film was “not taken lightly” and “never intended to upset Harry Potter fans.” He also says, “We know you have built this series into what it is.”

‘Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to Summer 2009. Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability. The decision to move “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support. If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between “Half-Blood Prince” and the much-anticipated first part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which opens in November 2010. So although we have to wait a little longer for “Half-Blood Prince,” the wait from that film until “Deathly Hallows” will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.’
This is just making me feel worse because the WB company has meant to hurt us just because they want the GODDAMN money!!! I’m still so angry about the date and I don’t know if I’ll ever get over it. Guess what, man, you have upset us fans!!
If they are doing it for the money they really screwed themselves. The bad publicity is much worse that losing the money. When the public image goes to hell it takes much work to repair it and WB has done none of that. I decided not to by and dvd today because it has WB on it.
I’ve already decided to move on with my life, but why is he doing that to us? What has he added by this? Does he think it’ll make us feel better? Newsflash: IT WON’T! I’m not going to complain about the date change anymore – because I feel so numb after all the anger – but why is he apologizing? He just successfully made fans angrier (if that was possible), he added salt to the injuries- which HE caused! It’s really hard to believe him, I don’t think that man cares about hurting us or not – he’s the same man who said “We would never do anything to hurt one of the movies or the series. We love our fans”- his picture is already next to the definition of “hypocrite” in my dictionary!
I dont care what he says. he’s just sending this out to clear his own mind. he doesnt care about us, he just cares about the money. if i could print a copy of his apology out and throw it bak in his face i wud.
alan needs to keep his mouth shut as everytime he speaks about the HBP releasedate issue he just make things worse! trying to soothe the angry HP mobs! ur doing it wrong!
Let’s face it. WB is only making HP, or any other movies, to make money. That’s the way it works. Now I am not saying I agree with WB’s actions of moving HP, but they saw a profit to be made and made it.
I think it is a low down dirty way of letting fans down. I do agree with some of you though. Alan Horn should just keep quiet and let us disagree or go on. Just bringing up this garbage is just what it is….garbage. Reading his statement was really a waste of my time.
Oy. WB has their reasons, good or bad. Can’t you guys just learn to deal with it? This happens in the gaming industry all the time, I’ve lived with it. 7 more months of waiting is nothing, believe me. The movie will still come out. Like someone said earlier, I am shocked at all these immature reactions. Reminds me of the time I refused to talk to my parents because they decided to postpone getting a bicycle for me for two more months. Looking back, I’m very embarrased by it.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but this sounds like an ex boyfriend saying “Please baby take me back even though I just totally cheated on you. At least I didn’t get a disease and she wasn’t pretty!” Its just got that nasty fake tone that doesn’t convince me. That’s at least how I read it.

I love that these other people are so “mature” that they are “embarrassed” by how others are acting. Do you people really not get it? It is not about the date change, it is about the complete and overbearing greed of the entertainment industry. They wouldn’t need millions and millions of dollars on one movie if they didn’t pay outrageous amounts of money on horrible actors, bad CGI and every other stupid thing that they buy for a movie that is clearly overpriced and underrated. We are the ones who pay their salaries and since money is the only thing that these people understand, well then, I guess we need to start talking their language. Do not give them what they are wanting which is another $500 million movie. That’s just ridiculous. The United States was founded upon “We the people…” not “We the people with the most money who can do whatever we want and you just have to live with it.” Stand up for something already. Send these overpaid execs the message that they deserve to be taught and swiftly. So for all of you “mature” people out there, I feel sorry for you since apparently you have no ideals of your own and can only coexist with what everyone else tells you to do. So get some backbone and speak out against fattening the pockets of the WB fat rats.
"Hang on. This Lord Voldything's back, you say."[br]"Yes."[br]"The one who murdered your parents."[br]"Yes."[br]"And now he's sending dismembers after you?"[br]"Looks like it," said Harry.
Oh, Yes. Surely. ‘We didn’t take it lightly, we just changed the relase date, because we knew we would get more money.’ I will never forgive WB!
