Telegraph: J. K. Rowling Bestselling Author of the Decade

The Telegraph has ranked Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling in the number one spot of their list compiling the top 100 bestselling authors of the decade.  With over twenty-nine million copies sold, Miss Rowling's novels beat out books by such other authors as Dan Brown, John Grisham, J. R. R. Tolkien, William Shakespeare, and Frank McCourt.  According to the paper, sales figures the Harry Potter novels released from the year 2000 to 2009 total 225.9 million pounds.  The top ten bestselling authors are as follows:

Wait, how can she have only sold 29,084,999? According to Wikipedia the series has sold a total of 400 milllion copies. And from an old documentary I know they’d sold 150 million by 2001. That means they should have sold 250 million since then. Twilight has sold 85 million copies and it’s not even on the list.

Immortal Phoenix: I’m not sure but I think the explication might be that the highest numbers of solf copies are copies sold all around the world, while the number given in the paper might be just the copies sold in English ! Just a guess…
