Avatar Imagepotterfan4lyfe says: at least it wasnt New Moon who beated HBP but still great job ppl thanks for spending ur money lol =)Avatar ImageCatherine says: haha! spending for a good reason though! i looked this up when HP was in my mums magazine as the Number one movie of the year!!! its amazing its number one by a long shot!Avatar ImageHPNAIV says: Awesome :)Avatar Imagesgreeter8888 says: I didn't even watch transformers. I am embarrassed for all the Americans who flock to the theatres to see dumb movies. Avatar ImageHermione Elizabeth says: I saw Transformers 2 and didn't like it.... ya'll are right, it had an awful and boring plot. Most people saw it for the effects though probably. But still glad HBP came out close to the top... I saw it three times in theaters, so my money helped out of course! :) LOLAvatar ImageMary11_hplvr4l says: ah ha..@ the top :D HP fans dominate the world :pppAvatar ImageScottMan says: Oh yeah!Avatar Imagecomposerdude86 says: Ok, so I'm hoping a lot of people will see this, but I wanted to find a site with a lot of Harry Potter fans to get opinions. I finally posted the video of the premiere of my version of "The Phoenix Lament" and I wanted to get a lot of people to see it to see what they think. So any fans out there, please go to the link below and listen to it and tell me what you all think being die-hard fans yourself. Thanks!!Avatar ImageMyLadyMarigold says: I read that article yesterday on Yahoo news and I have to say that I'm DELIGHTED (no ECSTATIC) that HP beat out New Moon. After all the hype about New Moon, I was a bit worried that it might beat out HP but thank God there are some people with good tastes out there. Not surprised about Transformers beating out HP even though I'm not sure it's rightly deserved. My husband saw the movie and didn't think it was as good as HP. At least HP is #1 outside of the US.Avatar ImageScarStruck says: OGM! this is sooooooooo AWESOME! yay! =DAvatar ImageGiant Squid says: Well, Im sure everyone here at Leaky helped out a bit!!!Avatar ImageHermione25 says: That is so cool XDAvatar ImageMatea says: I'm still disappointed because OOTP has about $10mil. more. HBP was so much better!Avatar Imageweasleygirl101 says: Wow! That's alot of money ! Well Done HBP!!!!Avatar ImageWON_TWO says: Money makes the world go 'round...Avatar ImageErinM says: That's a lot of Harry fans spending cash!!Avatar Imageabandonedboyjon says: i think its so funny how people make such a big deal about how much money a film makes in america when hp is almost always the highest in international box office and that i find even more impressive, how our franchise transcends cultures and languages.Avatar Imagenwrosey says: Dat's lot of money!Avatar Imagemuggle118 says: 1 or 2 thats still not badAvatar ImageHPNAIV says: Awesome :)Avatar Imageariana_dumbledore says: I wonder how much money it would have made if it had been released in November 2008, lol. Either way, it's always nice to see Harry Potter film do well :)Avatar Imagesunlitdays says: stupid transformer. what a stupid, unorigonal, disrespectful to women, movie. grrrrr...course im bitter about hbp, but also the transformer movie is so horrible. is there a way where we can find out how much hbp, in theaters, dvd, and internationally, earned? like total?Avatar ImageShinyPineapple says: Damn transformers...GO HBP!!! We all know it'll be HP that wins in the long run :)Avatar Imagecheeserpleaser says: Although I am disappointed that HBP did not earn the top spot at the US box office, I am very pleased and overjoyed to learn that it was the highest grossing film internationally. Nothing can beat Harry.Avatar Imagehrhgnl says: I am not surprised that Transformers beat HBP in the US. Considering Transformers contained violence, destruction and lack of plot, it had mass appeal to most teens and twenty-something boys. I know the HP films will withstand the test of time and the Transformer movies will be in the $5 bin in another year.Avatar Imageexpelliarmus9 says: Go Harry Potter!!! Avatar Imagemouse68 says: I have always believed that one of the main reasons that HP never does as well in the US as it does internationally is because the Religious Right, who are more than happy to send their kids to see Transformers, Pirates, Shrek, Spiderman etc won't let them go and see HP. I suspect this accounts for why they have never hit $350-400 million in the US.Avatar Imagecomposerdude86 says: Ok, so I'm hoping a lot of people will see this, but I wanted to find a site with a lot of Harry Potter fans to get opinions. Thanks!!Avatar ImageFifi says: All of my family except my little brother and sister and my Mom went to see it, and there's 7 of us so we helped out a bit too! lolAvatar Imagealicia00 says: thats amazing but we still did not bet new moon Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: Well, Im sure everyone here at Leaky helped out a bit!!!Avatar Imagehalfbloodprincesss says: i saw it about 6 times in theaters, mostly because my mother would always say i'll pay for you and a friend to go to the movies and HBP was the only one we wanted to see :) lolAvatar ImageKennedyJames says: That's alright that Transformer beat us. They are two separate categories, I was just hoping to beat Twilight, because that's our category of Fantasy Films. But that list was pretty accurate, I got the same list in my paper. The best films of '09! Avatar Imagemollywobble says: Where are you guys seeing that we "lost" to New Moon? Yes they had a monster opening weekend, but if you compare where HBP was after 38 days to where New Moon is now, we're actually a good $7 million ahead of them. Avatar ImageJTEL99 says: I'm glad Harry Potter is still so popular, although I do wish it would have come out at #1! :o)Avatar Imageda_member0808 says: Yayy! I was extremely excited when I read this because HP beat Twilight! I'm kinda sad Transformers grabbed the top spot, because that movie wasn't the greatest. It lacked in several important ares, but I digress. Good job for Harry Potter! That's quite a bit of money :)Avatar ImageWant to be a Weasley says: Definitely did my part (4 tickets bought by me), well worth every penny, too :-)Avatar ImageLAUR3N lx0 says: lol. Harry Potter fans DO dominate the world. :D good job HBP. Deathly Hallows part 1 win dominate in 2010, part 2 in 2011. XDAvatar Imagewandmastercalum says: Transformers.... I haven't seen that yet but still good for Harry Potter!!!!Avatar Imageronrules says: I sacrificed Transformers 2 to see HBP more times, but I'm happy with the choice I made.Avatar ImageMrs.fred weasley says: YAY!! Im really glad that HBP did better then new moon!!! Go Harry!!!!Avatar ImageSwizzle says: I am just excited HBP beat New Moon. Transformers was ok, minimal plot, lots of action. I totally agree that the "religious folk" who think HP is demonic have something to do with HP not doing as well in the US.Avatar Imageleigia says: Transformer was a fun mindless blow 'em up film while HBP was fun in a complete opposite way. I enjoyed both movies, but only watched Transformer once while I watched HBP several times. So it's great that both movies are in the top two at the box office.Avatar ImagePotter_Puella says: I lose faith in America today when something like "Transformers 2" beats out Harry Potter. But still, HBP deserved top spot in the world this year!
