Nicholas Hooper's Score for Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince Nominated for Grammy

Congratulations are in order today as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been nominated for a Grammy Award. The score composed by Nicholas Hooper for the sixth Harry Potter film is among those nominated s "Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media." Others nominated include scores for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (composed by Alexander Desplat),  "Milk" (Danny Elfman), "Star Trek" (Michael Giacchino) and "Up" (Michael Giacchino). You can read the entire list of nominees here.  Music from the soundtrack can be heard here on the official HBP website or here at the WB award site. The 52nd Grammy Awards will be presented on January 31, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA.

This is great news! mr. Hooper should win, ’In Noctem" beats every other music. oh and yeah, HA take that Twilight soundtrack! (because everyone here is so crazy about it ><)

It is wonderful that he has been recognized and nominated for an award for his work on the soundtrack for the sixth film. So innovative and creative was it as a soundtrack that it inverted, enriched, and enhanced the entire musical scheme that we associate with the franchise. In addition, it emotionally complemented the film in the most sublime and perfect fashion.

I loved the score for HBP, but Giacchino must win. That man is one of the best composers out there.

It should be. It’s absolutely gorgeous (blows John Williams out of the water in my opinion). I work at a daycare center and I play the soundtrack for the kids at nap time and it’s great.
