Thanks to the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund who let us know about a great auction the are holding for their charity this holiday season where the winner will get a visit to the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. According to the description of the auction "The winning parent and lucky child will visit the set during the
filming of the next Harry Potter movie in London in the first part
of next year. They will be able to watch the filming, learn the
secrets, and meet the stars."
Bidding is now open at this link, and runs until December 18th. Proceeds from auction will benefit "The Mark Davies
Injured Riders Fund's 21st Anniversary Poundcatcher campaign which aims
to raise at least a pound from every rider to ensure it can continue to
support all injured riders in genuine need."
Please note: Transportation to the UK is not provided (however bidding is welcome from around the world.) The DH set visit will take place at some point between January and April 2010 and "the date
is to be arranged by consent with the Studio, with 14 day's notice." Good Luck!
Thanks Emily!

Aww, it’s lovely, but frustrating for all of us who aren’t going to be able to win or even bid. (it’s already over a thousand pounds, and there are still six days left!) but whoever does get to go, they are lucky, lucky, rich, kind people.

i’m conflicted on this…
on one side it is very tempting but how does it even work? every person that bids is already giving the amount of money to the charity? even if they don’t win the auction?
or only the winner will have to pay what they bid?
can someone explain me how this bid works?
on the other hand….. i’m not entirely convinced
while giving to worthy causes is always good… i’m not sure the price is real.
I mean, every “going to the set/premiere,etc” contest that we had have been sponsored by Warner Bros first. not to mention they had always paid for acommodations and traveling expenses.
but in this case there is nothing on that. so for some reason i’m suspicious….
also, do you all think this is going to be the very last contest “to go visit the set of Deathly Hallows” from now till june? or do you guys think there will be other, more official ones?
cause, let’s be realistic, not many people can afford to spend… how much is it at it now? $3000?
and it is THE LAST TIME anyone will ever get to see the set.
so does anyone else thinks/hopes there will be one or two other contests to visit the set?
