Toby Jones Says Role as Dobby for Both Deathly Hallows Films

Last January, we told you that actor Toby Jones would reprise his role in the Harry Potter films series by again providing the voice of Dobby the House Elf for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Today, the actor made mention of his return to the series by noting: " I’m currently doing the new Harry Potter film; in fact, the last two Harry Potter films."
Please note: As readers will recall, there has been much ado and speculation over the possible splitting of the films, with the events involving the beloved House Elf at Malfoy Manor and Shell Cottage often discussed. While most certainly we do not yet know where the breaking point in the films will take place, or what all this may mean, it is interesting to note the mention of his return for both movies. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films is currently in production in England, with Part One set for release November 19, 2010, and Part Two due July 15, 2011.

very very interesting, and even though we can’t be sure of anything at the moment for the split , this does seem to indicate a possible split at the escape from Malfoy manor or just before said escape, very very interesting

David Heyman was saying before that they may make more of Dobby in the 7th than the part that he had in the book since movie audiences haven’t seen him since Chamber of Secrets. So….. they may introduce him at some earlier part in the movie and give him something to do, just to remind audiences who he is and hopefully have them get attached more I guess. Then they’ll kill him. haha, it’s really sad, actually.

haha it would actually be funny if at the Burrow we find Dobby, and everyone was all “Where have you been??” And then a montage of Dobby’s adventures. So does anyone think Dobby might actually hang out with the trio more? Or is it just that the split will be later in the book?

and him being cast for both DH films..maybe he’ll just be in part 1. I don’t know…Malfoy manor is critical point..I really hope they didn’t shrink it that hard. all those chapters in part 1 and then just Gringotts and Hogwarts in part 2? please no!

Didn’t David Heyman say in September that they’ll have to include more Dobby in the movie than we see in the book because it will be too confusing for moviegoers for him to come out of nowhere? How are they going to include more Dobby? They better not try to replace Kreacher…

So that means that the movie can’t end after Dobby dies, if he has to do the voice in the second part. Right?
My theory is that they will reintroduce him early on in the film, so him saving them and dying won’t come out of the blue. I’m still convinced that the split will be at The Silver Doe, or when they get captured. :P

I think that what will happen is that the trio, when wandering through the woods, will suddenly be attacked by Dobby, who has been stalking them. They will all wrestle around a bit, and then force Dobby to lead them to Malfoy Manor, at least, after he first swears to serve Harry.

Awesome. I wonder how they are gonna introduce him in the first part of the movies. Jaymie Brooks I agree i think that they will either split the movies at the Silver Doe or at the capture

Very interesting! I think this means that Dobby dies in part 2. I couldn’t see a use for flashbacks or pictures to reference him if he was already dead. I wonder if the split will be after The Silver Doe but before The Malfoy Manor. Hmmm…
