As a follow to what we first reported below last night, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has now arrived at the Royal Opera House in London, England. According to this video report from the BBC, you can see Jo and US First Lady Michelle Obama arriving at the event, where the article notes that JKR will be reading excerpts from her recently released The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Early photos are also here in our galleries, courtesy of Reuters/AP.
Update 2: British Vogue is now reporting that they were invited to record the event today at the Royal Opera House, and "to create a series of exclusive portraits for the magazine." Acclaimed fashion photographer Mario Testino took the pictures, and we will update should there be a new portrait of JKR included in the magazine.

I’m really happy to see Jo among the most influential people in the world! XD Of course, she is one of them, so it’s only natural!
Here is part of the report by the Telegraph:
“President Obama may be the world’s most famous man but he became positively star struck in the presence of the Harry Potter author J K Rowling. The President made a beeline for Miss Rowling, at the end of the Downing Street G20 dinner, and told her that he had read all her books himself and to his children Sasha and Malia.
Miss Rowling then received a second presidential seal of approval for the boy wizard from Russia’s President Medvedev and his wife Svetlana, who not only admitted to having read the Harry Potter books but also asked for her autograph."
About Obama, the Scotsman reported:
“An onlooker revealed: ‘He asked for her autograph and told her he had read all the Harry Potter books to his daughter, Malia, so counted himself a big fan of hers. Joanne was clearly very flattered.’”

OK, Fragesteller, thank you EXTREMELY much for that posting!! I don’t know if it’s possible to love both my favorite people as much as I do now, but I’ll certainly try. I’m trying to imagine our wonderfully-too-cool-for-school President Obama “geeking out” upon meeting our literary Goddess, Jo Rowling.
My smile is way wide and my heart is WAY full just reading about it!
I think it’s so cool how the Obamas read HP. =)
