Fan Report from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: New Attack Scene Added for Movie, More

Today we have a report from the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Two long time Harry Potter fans and readers of TLC were able to visit the set at Leavesden where filming is ongoing for the final installment of the Harry Potter film series. While there, they were able to see some of the sets used in past Harry Potter films as well as see the new ones and learn more details about the upcoming Deathly Hallows.
: The full blog post for this has now been removed, sorry folks!  UPDATE TWO: Via his official Twitter, actor Tom Felton has indicated that he is "waiting to go on set...all harnessed up (lycra on!) " The harness is most likely for the dramatic events in the Room of Requirement.

Notable from the report (and as indicated by multiple other sources previously) was confirmation that yes indeed Bill and Fleur's wedding scenes are being recorded all this week, complete with one of the Weasleys spotted wearing a bandage over his ear and Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley) was seen sporting prosthetic scars on the left side of his face. Exciting too is news that the double for Xenophilius Lovegood was wearing "mustard colored corduroys, a pale shirt with a yellow waist coat over the top that was covered in flowers and shoulder length blondish-white hair."
Also of interest to fans contained in the report are the following:

Scenes with 'lots of Goblins' are about to be filmed;

A prop of Aragog is being used as model for bigger larger spiders in DH (presumably for Battle of Hogwarts);

A glimpse of the sculpted bust of Rowena Ravenclaw and the diadem perched atop her head. "Stunningly beautiful detail!"

Photos were seen of  Ron turning into Reg Cattermole.  The report says "From the looks of this, they will actually be putting very realistic prosthetic makeup on Rupert.  In the final stage makeup picture of him, you would not recognize him as Rupert.

Photos and sculptures of Dan’s hexed makeup where he’s hexed to hide his identity from the Snatchers.  This looks amazing!  The right side of his face is all lumpy and deformed.  It’s hard to see Dan under this makeup.

Part of the Seven Potters is being filmed on the Privet Drive set at Leavesden. The report also points out that "from what we were told, it sounded as if they will use makeup on the actors to make them look like Dan, at least for some part of the scene".

Grimmauld Place set, currently used as Baker Street for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film is being repainted for use again in DH.

The Lovegood house set complete with Dirigible plums (bright orange plants) growing outside, is built with a stone base with "the right side of the house pitted with holes where Death Eater spells had hit (squib explosions)" The report also states that  "they were prepping the house again for a much bigger version of that fight, apparently.  They were adding even more squibs for the new fight."
Giant hedges (15 feet tall or more) and two large, stone pillars flanking either side of the entrance adorn the exterior of one of the Malfoy Manor sets. There is also word that there are white peacocks in the animal section of the set.

There is an Animatronic Hog's head that is used in front of the pub, with the pub set open for cameras and more from recent filming.

The Room of Requirement filming is also underway, with two doubles recently who "were perched atop one of the stacks of furniture and rigged into a harness." (probably for the Flight/Fiendfyre squence).

Finally of particular interest is word that there is another new attack sequence, minor and not contained in the book by J.K. Rowling, has been added to the film to showcase the ongoing war. The report says "It appeared to be a bunch of burned trailers / mobile homes.  Apparently in this scene, Harry and Hermione show up at this camp site only to find that the Death Eaters have already attacked and destroyed some of the trailers."

Thanks so much to Chris and Maria for sharing their visit with us!

Wow. they are really playing up scenes. I’m glad they are adding more fighting to the death Eater attacking the Lovegood home! Sounds like this movie will be different than the others. Instead of deleting so much and watering it down, it’s going to all be built up….serious competition with the book? Maybe.

Wow. What a great report! Thanks Chris and Maria! I’m happy you got to go but I’m also jealous. Hehe :D It sounds so amazing, oh, I wish all of us could go ): I could probably spend a whole lifetime there and that’d be alright with me. Anyway, it said there was a ‘sketch of the skeleton, in the Chamber, with Ron and Hermione standing next to it.’ So this definitely means that they’re both going to be shown down in the chamber? Then this totally confirms MY belief that they will have the kiss down there. =) Just saying.

Wow. Everything in the report was so accurate to the book. Except for Harry and Hermione and the trailer park thing… that’s going to be weird but as long as it doesn’t take too much time. These are going to be the last films and I honestly think adding things is not good. I’ve been okay with the changes in HBP I suppose, but no more unecessary scenes for Deathly Hallows.

I cannot believe that they put in Rowena Ravenclaw’s bust! I thought for sure they were going to cut that out. Wow! I’m very happy now. Very. I didn’t see it in HBP – perhaps it was there – but they didn’t make it clear… I’m extremely happy it’s in DH now :)

Luna’s house seems PERFECT. I cannot wait for that scene! As well as Malfoy Manor and Godric’s Hollow! Oh and Bathilda Bagshot already seems creepy! I cannot flippin wait!

Accio 2010!

WHY, WHY , WHY do they insist on adding more scenes to the movie when they always leave out important scenes that JKR wrote for HER books? It is a waste of money and time to add in unnecessary “blow-em-up/shoot-em-up/obligatory car (or broom) chases”… don’t they realize that HP fans LOVE THE BOOKS and that when they leave out important info that they diminish the books? Since they left out the locket in the cleaning of 12 Grim Auld place, and list of possible horcruxes from the last movie, how will Harry even work it out that Kreacher knows about Regulus and the locket, where the Hufflepuff cup and the diadem are located and the significance of Nagini? It really annoys me when they say they have to cut something because including everything would make the movie too long. True fans would go to LONG movies and pay more! To Warner Bros.: If you leave out something because of time, DON’T ADD ANYTHING ELSE!! And please release DVDs of all of the movies with the filmed but deleted scenes restored.

How are they going to explain all of Bill’s scars?
But, apart from that, it sounds AMAZING.
I CANNOT wait!!!

Fabulous! Thanks Chris and Maria! Glad you had a wonderful time and gave us this report.

Regarding the new scene of the attack on the mobile homes, my brother told me recently that his company who provide services to caravan parks and mobile homes in SE England sold about a dozen caravans to Warner Bros. to be used for filming. This is what they must have bought them for.

It’s seems that they have substitued Blaise Zabini for Vincent Crabbe in the Fiendfyre scene.

Glad to know they went into so much detail and it looks as if the DH films are going to be epic and true to the books!

Interesting, so they diadem is worn by a Ravenclaw statue? I wonder… Or is it just the bust in the common room without the real one?
I don’t think there’s need of another attack. The whole book is full of them anyway.

It doesn’t say squibs fightthere, it says the house they’ve built has holes, holes made because of the explosions of squibs (firework consisting of a tube filled with powder that burns with a fizzing noise – dict. definition).
