Location filming recently took place in Scotland involving the Hogwarts Express train for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. A freelance photographer has now posted photos on his public flickr, here or here in our image galleries of the filming where a camera was attached to a helicopter to get the overhead shots; others show the fabled train at Rannoch Station near Loch Rannoch, Scotland. Please note: no cast members were present at this filming.

I think cosmo409 had it right: it’s the wistful cut away from the trio at Grimmauld, showing the other trio (Neville, Ginny, Luna) on the train… I think it would be cool if hey ALSO showed Crabbe & Goyle skulking through the train, looking forlorn without Draco. There might also be the scene of them trying to sneak into Snape’s office to steal the sword, and having a laugh with hagrid in the forest: it would be nice to see them even though they won’t have speaking lines, just visualizing what the trio is imagining… or what we were when we read the second-hand accounts.

Right..maybe it is the epilogue.

The shots didn’t show King’s Cross so it is most likely filler shot for transitions and so forth. I doubt it will be a boarding or disembarking shot (especially with no actors present) in “Hogsmeade” which is the station featured in these pictures. And Luna’s kidnapping happened at Christmas. There is no snow and I would be surprised if they would add that post. I would think it is most likely a transition shot for the daydreaming of the trio. First shot of the trio in Grimmald place wondering about the train, transition shot of train to Ginny, Luna and Neville off to school and a quick synopsis by them of how things are already different with the school in the Death Eater’s hands even on the train or what they are plotting to rebel.

Maybe they are going to film parts of Ginny, Neville, and Luna planning to start up Dumbledore’s Army or something. I donno but I hope it’s cool whatever they do! Can’t wait for the premiere!

Maybe they are just going to shoot a scene showing Ginny, Neville, and Luna getting on the train alone (without Harry, Ron, and Hermione) going to Hogwarts.

Maybe they’re filming the epilogue already…? That or not, I’m glad we got some snippets of it! :)

The only time the Hogwart’s Express is in the book is during the epilogue so maybe that’s what they’re filming??! Either way…it’s pretty exciting!! I can’t to see this movie!!! November 2010 can’t come fast enough!

@ginny&harry4ever I don’t honestly think it is for the epilogue but even it it was that would not mean they were nearly finished filming, they do not film in order and they are definitely still filming into the beginning of next year, quite possibly right through to the spring.
I’m pretty convinced this will be to show the beginning of the school year when the trio are missing, remember how in the book on the 1st September they discuss how strange it is not to be on the train and there is the following passage as they are sitting together at the end of the day,
“In his mind’s eye Harry seemed to see the scarlet steam engine as he and Ron had once followed it by air, shimmering between fields and hills, a rippling scarlet caterpillar. He was sure Ginny, Neville and Luna were sitting together at this moment, perhaps wondering where he, Ron and Hermione were, or debating how best to undermine Snape’s regime”
They could very well decide to put in a visual representation of this thought.
