Well it isn't quite a ship to launch a thousand faces, but rather it's a launch of a thousand balloons to herald the release of pre-orders for the UK Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD. Yes, really. According to Indie London, this Thursday, September 24, 2009 WB will launch 1,000 balloons which will "have a card attached featuring a unique code that will entitle the holder to register online for a chance to win a trip to the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, then "step on to a set for a unique and exciting filming experience, where
they will be filmed in the role of one of the magical framed “moving”
portrait characters that have adorned the walls of Hogwarts in all of
the Harry Potter films. The launch takes place at 1pm at the Millennium Bridge (beside City of
London School), and will be done by Harry Potter stars Evanna Lynch (aka Luna Lovegood) and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)."
Open to UK residents aged 18 and over, if you are lucky enough to catch one of these balloons you have to register online at this link (currently not yet working) between October 1, 2009 and December 4, 2009 for entry into the grand prize draw. Good Luck!

Oh man, that sounds really awesome, wish I was in the UK :[ It’d also be funny to see who is really a Potter fan, because they’ll always have their eyes on the sky xD
This is from an environmental stand point, a bad idea however. It could hurt a lot of animals :[ Neat idea, just not the best idea.

Cool idea! Guess it’d bad for the environment, yeah, but almost everything we do do hurts the environment some way. I mean just sitting here in front of a computer doesn’t help too much, and I guess had they come up with another way too launch this thing, someone would probably find another thing to remark on there too. This doesn’t mean I don’t feel sorry for the marine life and stuff, just don’t lay too heavily into it.

So, I’m going to force my sister to live in the UK for a year and look out for balloons, oh the cost of being a Harry Poter fan, totally worth it though.
But couldn’t they choose a Greener way of doing it?

Hopefully those balloons won’t last too long in the atmosphere, and are found quickly, before they do any damage. I agree with all the above..it’s a great idea in a way..very potterish as someone put it earlier. But they can cause damage..
