As a follow up to our post about the Ellen DeGeneres Show taping from Universal Studios Orlando and broadcasting a ‘sneak peek’ at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, the talk show’s website has put out a call for those knowledgeable in everything Harry Potter. In the “Be Part of the Show’ section, the following call has been issued:

Do you have a precocious child who knows everything there is to know about Harry Potter books and movies? Is talking about Harry Potter his or her favorite subject? If so, we want to hear about them! Click here to tell us about your little wizard.

A following prompt asks for a 1500 character (maximum) story about the young Harry Potter fan, as well as a photo of the entrant. If the fan is under the age of 18, the form must be filled out by a parent or guardian on the young fan’s behalf.

For full information about this call, and to enter, click here.
Many thanks, Tracy!

Avatar ImageSuperman369 says: Hmmm, does a 25 year old count as a "precious little child"?Avatar ImageGarden State Geek says: At 49, I'm a little too old to pass. Perhaps I'll start working on some polyjuice potion. Avatar Imagesiriusismyhero says: *sighs* If only I lived in the US...Avatar ImageNumeroUnoFan says: dude 25 is definately a precious little childAvatar ImageLoveTomRiddle says: Ohh I wish I could join! If only I lived in the USAvatar Imageleigia says: What a shame that I'm too old to be considered a child. Oh well. Good luck to all who entered.Avatar ImageMiss Freewind says: Does anyone else find this "call" a little confusing and lacking in information? It say "precious little child", but then it talks about *IF* you are under 18 years old that your parent/guardian must fill out the form with their information, not the minor's. It says nothing about an age limit. It also does not tell you what will be happening with the info you send them. Is Ellen just put it up on her website or is she going to show the pic and tell their "story" on the show? Is she going to call one of them during the show or will a one lucky person be invited on the show? I am tempted to send my info in (even though I am in my 20's), but I am a little worried about doing so since I don't what will happen?Avatar ImageHermione Elizabeth says: I'm 19... but nowadays that's not considered a "Precious child". LOL I do agree though that the directions are a little confusing. Do you have to be an actual child or can you be older... how it's worded is wierd.Avatar ImageJyanpuff86 says: sounds nice for all the little kids out there. wish they would give things like this away to the "Precious Adult" Fans! Avatar ImageSwizzle says: Dang! To old!! Drat!Avatar ImageNobleHouseofBlack says: Shoot, I'm 19 and I just entered. Avatar Imagegeminidreamatl29 says: i think everyone on leaky is over the child age. ill be 30 in june so i doubt ill qualify. but im going in june anyway so ill still be able to expereience it.Avatar Imagerosepug says: I think it's time we made it clear that it's not just 'precious children' that are knowledgeable (and obsessed) HP fans! Avatar ImageMosu says: OMG!!! O.o I should soo do this!!!!! im going to see what I can do her show is filmed near my city :)Avatar ImageSuperman369 says: It would be funny if I made it on the show. "On todays show, a 25 year old police officer and father from Philadelphia, who is an avid Harry Potter nerd." Man, I would never hear the end of it at work!Avatar Imagejoelface says: OMG! Combining Harry and Ellen? *joy* Wish I could enter!!!Avatar ImagePaulaSui says: I was wondering the same with my 27... I'm afraid I'm just precious xD Some reversed ageing potion?Avatar ImagePaulaSui says: Lol! I mean *precocious*... Oh the subconscious of mine...Avatar ImageMaxtina Potter says: Hey guys, what if I'm 20 and still a child!?!Avatar ImageHPNAIV says: All of you guys - ENTER. Who cares about the age!? :) We're all die hard HP fans. We know the most about Harry, not some little cute kid.Avatar ImageBrightsong says: I don't know how many of us can be considered "precious" but we'll ALL precocious! I have five grandkids -- I could enter one of them. I'll just coach them. Laurel from AtEAvatar ImageMiss Freewind says: I just realized that it is supposed to "precocious" instead of "precious". I could have sworn that it said "precious" though. Maybe I am losing my mind. Who knows! LOL!Avatar ImageMoMuggle says: I'm in my early 20's and I'm going to enter the second I get home from work.Avatar ImageFGFG says: I'm going to enter. I'm 14...I'm pretty sure that's still a child. Sorta. :-/ I don't think the age really matters I think they just meant that alot of children read Harry Potter.Avatar ImageIndigoMisfit says: I'm 23 and not sure if I should enter my information. Its awkward being a Harry Potter fan who grew up since the first book was released.Avatar ImageIndigoMisfit says: I'll enter, I can't resist. I love Ellen and HP too much.Avatar Imagejhangelgurl says: I find it annoying they only consider small children into HP. Since the books first came out over a decade ago there are many fans who are well! over the age of 18. Im only 23 and got into them late, but still it bothers me that they only want children when people are age care more then much much younger children. Avatar Imagejhangelgurl says: oops i ment to say our* age =)Avatar Imagenatalia96 says: it sucks that it's only in the usAvatar Imagebeewell says: Too bad it is just for children because most of the fandom is adults. I would love to do this even though I am 51 years old and not a child. All my co-workers know I am and let me know about HP happenings. They even try to find me gifts of HP that I do not have. I do agree that the instructions were a little vague and should have been clearer to what would be expected. Hopefully they will clear it up soon. I can't wait for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to open. I am taking my granddaughter with me and she will be thrilled. Couldn't enter her for the Ellen show thing since she is only 3 years old but she sure does love to watch the movies!Avatar Imagebeewell says: Too bad it is just for children because most of the fandom is adults. A precocious child can certainly be a precious one, but the former is a bit more quantifiable. Avatar Imagekingdomkey1121 says: Guys, it doesn't say "precious", it says "precocious" which is an entirely different word but doesn't really alter the meaning of the sentence itself. Sorry, I'm a Grammar Nazi :PAvatar ImageMariaPaige says: Offtopic: Hermione is losing a cage match against Jaime Lannister (a Muggle) of A Song of Ice and Fire series. Please, go and vote for her. She needs the support of all Potter fans :) http://www.suvudu.com/2010/03/cage-match-2010-round-1-15-jaime-lannister-versus-18-hermione-granger.htmlAvatar ImageStarlysh says: Melissa should just send Ellen her book as an entry. :) I would LOVE to see someone I know on Ellen! Avatar ImageLexitheAuror says: Well, why doesn't someone tweet Ellen to find out if they're looking for kids of all ages or just kids younger than a specific age?Avatar ImageToNkS_rip says: that sounds awesome!! im 14, so no problem there!!!!!!Avatar ImageBellatrixGranger says: good luck to anyone whos enteredAvatar ImageLeander21 says: first time in my life that i wish i was younger. eighteen needs to be the new ten lolAvatar Imagecunningham7 says: I agree that the call is as clear as mud. Would like more info. Also, I thought I might point out that they are inquiring about "precocious" children, not "precious" children. Avatar Imagecunningham7 says: Sorry, now i see someone had already pointed that out, so lets all pretend i"m not an idiot.Avatar Imagemew5645 says: cool !!!!Avatar Imagemew5645 says: cool !!!!Avatar ImageWant to be a Weasley says: I love Ellen's show and can't wait to see who gets picked! Hope it is one of our younger members here on MyLeaky, if only I wasn't 32 :-)Avatar ImageDobbyWinkyKreacher says: quite awesome, would be splendid to go. Avatar ImageNargles18 says: That's SO cool. I might enter. :)Avatar Imagefinnigan98 says: ha im young enough in your face adultsAvatar Imagealicia00 says: grate but my mom wont allow it and y is everybody on this website like 19 - 30 years old geezAvatar ImagePotions_TA says: Precocious child? Ya i'm 24 so I don't think I'm elibible. But I definitely agree this wording is unnecessairly confusing.Avatar ImageLibby says: I don't think it's really fair for those of us who were kids when Harry Potter started and are now technically young adults. I was 8 reading the first HP book. Now I'm just turning 19. Why can't we participate in stuff like this when we grew up with the series? Really wouldn't call myself a "precious little child" who hit puberty a long time ago. :(Avatar ImageL0rd_V says: I grew a 5 foot long beard after I entered with my 21 years, so guys: only children ^^Avatar ImagePollytomat says: and when we were turning 18 we were so happy, so proud of ourselves... and now? our only wish is to become minors again and to take part in a contest))) Life is always a bit confusing))))Avatar ImageCourtneyPotter says: OMG I so want to do to this! I have always wanted to be on The Ellen show and now there is Harry Potter involved! woott!Avatar ImageAvanelleWood says: Kind of silly for them to put out a call for kids. Don't they realize that most of the kids who grew up reading Harry Potter are in their late teens and early twenties now? I say, enter anyway!Avatar ImageDarcyS says: I'm 28, but I think I could pass for a kid. Oh my gosh. I'm 28. I'm OLD. Avatar Imageowanalilypotter says: Damn, I'd be PERFECT for this! If I only lived in the US...why do THEY get all the good stuff?? All Canada gets is the exhibition and book launches. ah well..Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: It should include other places too! Oh well, the show should be good!Avatar Imagejhlovesmusic says: I'm SO getting Mom to fill out a form!!! (I'm just under the age limit!) I love Ellen's show (I used to watch it all the time before I started High School and the school's starting time was before 9:00) Anyway, I'm going to sign up now!!! Good luck all!!!Avatar Imagebella vita says: Guys it says PRE-CO-CIOUS child NOT precious! I'm 23, but like everyone else is saying this is worded so strangely that I can't tell if any age is allowed to enter or not.Avatar ImageShinyPineapple says: i find it kind of confusing. are they paying for travel? i live far away, but can enter...Avatar Imagewhyalltheglitter says: Hello??? Anyone reading the word would see it is precocious not precious... 1 : exceptionally early in development or occurrence 2 : exhibiting mature qualities at an unusually early age Avatar ImageCrazy4Neville says: do you think 15 years old is still a "precocious child"? if so, im totally getting my mom to enter me :DAvatar Imageangelmuziq says: well I'm 24 and I entered. What could it hurt the worst they could do is not concider me. Since I didn't see an age limit I was like "what the heck" and put my info in. Maybe they'll think its funny to put an adult up against a kid and see who knows more, you never know! Good luck to all that applied.Avatar Imageharrypotterfreak101 says: Hey! Maybe I could ask my parents to enter me in that contest, I am under eighteen!Avatar Imagenealiezealbie says: sounds like a great thing for younger hp fans :) good luck to those chosen, i hope they do hp & the fandom proudAvatar ImageHermonie says: That is sooooooooooo cool! I am definetly entering! I mean I have read the books 357 times!!!Avatar ImagetheREALGinnyWeasley says: hahahahahhaha im entering :DAvatar ImageAudrey Sunshine says: YES. I think my mom might put me on this, and I'm 15. :)Avatar Imagenellythemarrow says: It sounds like the website should be grateful to Leaky for posting this news item, they seem to have gleaned a lot of entrants through this!Avatar ImageCatherine says: SQUEE!! SO EXCITED!!!! ive been bugging my mu since this morning and she's enterine me since im two yeras short of entering myself!Avatar Imagehewy says: Good luck to all who enter!! Note to alicia00 19+ is not old geezers. Most of the 20+ started reading about Harry when they were 10 years younger and I'm 68 and a rabid Harry Potter fan so there! Anyway hope you enter and win. What a wonderful thing Ellen is doing - the more publicity the better!!!Avatar Imagephoenixes are in ravenclaw says: I really want to do this!!!! ELLEN IS AWESOME!!!!Avatar ImageNot Slytherin says: We should all enter!!! (Adults can be precocious!)Avatar Imagemadman1277 says: wootAvatar Imagemadman1277 says: wootAvatar Imagemadman1277 says: wootAvatar Image42sk8ter says: FYI: everybody is talking about if they are a "precious little child." it says "precocious child"! There is a difference! I can't wait to see the entries!Avatar ImageLoonyMaddie3 says: Oooh! I should do this! I might... but lately I've had terrible luck, on numerous things, so my chances are slim to none, but its worth a try, right?Avatar Imagesamarah 18 says: If only Ilived in the U.S.Avatar Imagesamarah 18 says: If only Ilived in the U.S.Avatar ImageAudreyLouiseLovegood says: SWEEEEEEET I am totally applying for this!! 16 is still a precious child right?Avatar Imageronlvr44 says: Aw, omg! im so gonna make my mom do this! :DAvatar Imagewandmastercalum says: I would try to enter but I will be so scared to be on television. God I hate being 13 :DAvatar Imagethundermountain7 says: I have already emailed my mom, dad, and dad's work email this so they can fill it out for me. OMG this is sooooooo cool. I definitely qualify for a “precious little child” i am only 13 :0 wouldn't that be so cool if i was pick.Avatar ImageAlice Weasley says: Ok so I'm 23, but I look like I'm 15 (no joke!) Think I could enter? lol- I agree with everyone else, the rules are a bit confusing!!!Avatar ImageBeckster235 says: im only 20!!!Avatar Imagecheeserpleaser says: I am seriously contemplating applying for this to represent the diversity that constitutes this fandom to the general media.Avatar ImageHPandtheDA007 says: I'm at 18 and I will for sure be entering!!!!! Precocious child? I"m the biggest child at heart! Oh and I'll have to make sure I mention my favorite harry potter news spot, THE LEAKY CAULDRON!!!!Avatar Imagedillypoo says: I figure if Ellen only wanted baby wizards then she would've put up an age line that couldn't be crossed. I submitted my name. I'm a precocious 46.Avatar ImageMiss Freewind says: To the 10 or so people pointing out that it is "precocious", not "precious" (ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT ARE EXTREMELY RUDE ABOUT IT AND ACTING REALLY ARROGANTLY)- Everyone already knows! A couple of the handful of people in the first dozen posts who mistakenly used the wrong term commented again and pointed out that they used the wrong term and corrected it in their later statement. Quit complaining about people not reading things when you are to lazy to read their later comments. I used the wrong term, but I made another comment correcting myself. I also pointed out that I could have sworn that it said "precious", not "precocious" when I first posted. Did any of you people think that maybe it *did* say "precious" instead of "precocious" at first, but was maybe changed (corrected) later? Does it not seem a little strange for so many people to use the the same incorrect term? Maybe you should not be such hurry to look and act superior because now you only look foolish and pompous. When did it become okay to put-down other Harry Potter fans? Is it now "cool" to be malicious to a fellow fan when they make an insignificant mistake? The atrocious behavior of *supposed* Harry Potter fans is why I hate coming to large HP sites like TLC because they seem attract people with horrible personalities and nasty attitudes like a rotten piece of meat attracts flies. Avatar ImageHBPFan says: I think Ellen doesn't realise how many precious little childfren there really are that know everything about Harry Potter!!! I think there shouldn't be an age limit. Or, as GSG admitted, there will be a lot of polyjiuce potion going around!! :DAvatar ImageVerdande says: Why do stuff like this always ask for children? Don't they know that most Harry Potter fans are teens or in the twenties.Avatar Imagehaleytttw says: lmao, is 16 a child? probably not, oh well, i guess i could enter, but id probably choke up and run off stage screaming "I KNOW NOTHING!" XDAvatar Imagemominthemoon says: The word is actually "precocious" and not "precious," and it means unusual aptitude/maturity in a young child. I'm sure Ellen's planning to feature kids, but since it's a trip contest, you have to be 18 to fill out the entry information. My guess is that there WILL be many adults who try to enter themselves, though!Avatar Imageclever-ravenclaw says: uugghh..my parents are muggles. they wot understand. Avatar Imagequeequeg says: I am 27 and I entered anyway, whats the worst that can happen, nothing? I figured that they might have some non children on there, and hey, if there is a chance for a free trip, I am all about it!Avatar ImageDelilah3136 says: Man, I JUST turned 18 :( this sucks..... why do they assume the biggest Potter fan is a kid anyway..?Avatar ImageGeek Squared 1307 says: Like several other commenters, I've been wondering if there is an age limit to being a "precocious child". I'm 21, but I'm really short. Does that count? -Geek Squared 1307Avatar ImageI Heart Harry Potter says: Aw, again I wish I lived in the US!Avatar ImageMadam Snape says: I'm 26, although I still consider myself a "precious little child"!!! I love Harry Potter and there's a lot of folks who would appreciate that theme park and are above 18. I don't think there should be an age limit... That's so unfair...Avatar Imagesillyemma8 says: That is so stupid. I am only 14, knows almost everything about Harry Potter -books and movies- and i can not even enter in it!! Unless one of my parents HELP me. Which i know nither will do. Who says I do not have the chance just because i am 14?!?!?! it does not seem right that the do not tell you where your info is going as well. That does not seem right as well.Avatar ImageFwanninator says: Hey people, for the record, it says, "PRECOCIOUS little child," not "precious little child. Big difference.Avatar Imagebudgie says: All things Potter are a lot of fun. I am way past a child, but wouldn't begrudge a child having a shot at a TV interview.Avatar Imagetonksariffic says: I just signed up!! Thanks for posting this!!!Avatar ImageSmitch says: Oh man - I wish I could pass for a "little wizard". Well, I could. Just an old one. Avatar Image_padfoots_princess_ says: :O I'm 16!!!!! I could do this!!!! <3<3Avatar ImageSmitch says: Aw. I wish I was still a child. Just joking. That sounded a little desperate, didn't it.
