There are now only 91 days left until “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” hits theaters! We are posting a quote from the first half of the book every day in celebration and to give us a chance to discuss and ponder the final book as it goes to film. Here’s today’s quote!

“Of course, Voldemort would have considered the ways of house-elves far beneath his notice, just like all the purebloods who treat them like animals. . . . It would never have occurred to him that they might have magic that he didn’t.”

-Hermione Granger

-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, “Kreacher’s Tale”

Avatar Imageforgetmenot_007 says: Ahh...love this quote.Avatar Imageeccentricalice says: This quote is brilliant, I love being reminded of all these little bits of a fantastic book =)Avatar ImageCatherine says: cool! i love how nieve Voldy is sometimes!!! i love this quote!Avatar Imagedevilskinn says: It sometimes occurs that Hermione says something in the lines of Dumbledore's wisdom. Of course, she is always book-smart, but there are occasions when she goes beyond this and speaks like a very experienced, wise adult. It is in the case of the house elves when she also shows her passionate, revolutionary and determined side. And it's not her cleverness that I like most about her, for she can sometimes be too narrow-minded and enclosed in the realm of the written world. No, this, SPEW, is probably my favourite side of her. Avatar ImageFleur-de- Lily says: cool!Avatar Imagepurplewitch_30 says: Nice!!!!!Avatar Imagekiwimci says: Go on Hermione!! Love her, perfect Hermy quote, wonder how Ron and Hermione will get round to kissin in DH seeing as the SPEW subplot was never introduced in the moviesAvatar ImageAsria says: We're almost there!Avatar ImageMistic Willow says: Hello ALL!! Yes!! this was definately one of my favorite quotes!!!! I would like to see a more romantic scene between Harry & Ginny, because in the last Movie it must have only lasted 2 seconds, and it did not happen where it was suppose to happen, which was suppose to be the Gryffindore Common Room in front of everybody!!!! I was truly dissapointed at that scene and really felt that they did it an injustice, I hope they do better this time, and that we get to see the first kiss between Ron and Hermione!!! lolAvatar ImageDawna says: Voldemort doesn't understand feelings other than hate...that is his downfall.Avatar ImageGryffindor_Girl_xx says: Voldemort is so dumb sometimeAvatar Imagemark707 says: voldy is a moronAvatar Imageksddancer says: We are getting closer!Avatar Imagehalfbloodprincesss says: I absolutely love this quote and I love Voldemort's character because he is basically every tyrant, every dictator, every bully on the playground who thinks that because he found out something his small group of loyal followers didn't know, that automatically means that nobody else knows about it. And his character is almost predictable, but in the sense that he is so open-minded about the future that his hindsight is completely closed; He just doesn't learn from his mistakes. I think JKR really hit it big with Voldemort because she has done something that I think no one else could have done, and that is to take people like Fidel Castro and Hitler and all the slave owners in American history, or around the world for that matter, and every single person who thought that just because somebody does something different (religion and culture in general) means that you are different, and she sort of melted them all together to make one person who is so narrow-minded and turns a blind eye to all the injustice he has created to try and rise to power that he has created not only Harry as his biggest enemy but he has created his own opponent's army of people like Mrs. Weasley who has lost brothers to Voldemort and Sirius Black and Remus Lupin who lost their best friends that want to fight against him.Avatar ImagePhoenix1946 says: Looks like Yeates has done it again! From clips and info released about DH part 1, we can see that this is another movie not from the book!! Strike 1: Scene with Harry, Hermione and Ron running thru the woods trying to escape the snatchers. Did Not Happen! Strike 2: a horcrux killed in water. Did Not Happen!! Strike 3: Hedwig released when the Seven Harrys leave Privett Drive, Did Not Happen!! Three Strikes and you're out!! I really couldn't care less if this movie is ever released!! I will not waste my limited cash to see a pale spectre of a very good book. I blame Jo Rowling as much as Yates because his excuse is "This is approved by Jo.". If you are going to make a movie from a book, I expect to see more of the book than the just title and character names!! Chris Colombus did an excellent job with the first two movies. Movies 3 and 4, while not as tight to the respective books, were good efforts. Nothing Yates has made has come anywhere close!! I'm surprised that WB hasn't announced HP9 to start filming in 2011 since HP fans with more money than good sense will will do a $1 billion box office for anything with the Harry Potter name on it!!Avatar Imagehermionenluna says: ah, hermione :) Avatar ImageRavenclawGirl13 says: I think that it is really neat how the way Voldemort treated house-elves assisted in the destroying of himself.Avatar Imagemoonysmusician says: I recently reread Kreacher's Tale and it still makes me cry. :-(Avatar Image2tal says: just re-read DH and again loved how much depth JKR brings to these stories. The good the trio does to help Kreacher heal and re-enforcing the notion that kindness begets kindness. How Regulus learned and matured and sacrificed himself to help bring down Voldemort; at the same time trying to protect Kreacher. I remember reading DH the first time and it felt like such a dark, winding downward, path for the first half of the book. Which made the rest even more powerfully uplifting.Avatar Imagemonkeysinhogwarts says: Volodemort is such an idiot. I love this quote :)Avatar Imageharrypotterfreak101 says: Just three more months to go! It'll pass by before we know it! I mean the six months passed by way too quick! Harry Potter......The Worldwide Phenomenon, will soon come to an end......... That just brings tears to my eyes, why can't Jo Rowling write another book about Harry Potter.........But this time about their kids and their lives...... But it would probably be a little simple, but us Harry Potter fans would just die to read about them!Avatar ImageNumeroUnoFan says: stoked to see kreacher returnAvatar ImageiButterbeer says: That is SOO hermione!! great quote!!Avatar Imagejacket says: Great quote! Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: Very powerful quote! HalfBloodPrincess(Jenna Evans) I agree with everything you typed out!Avatar ImageNot Slytherin says: It's crazy how truly ignorant ol' Tom Riddle turns out to be, eh?Avatar Imagetaoist1 says: I wish the house elves were used in the movies more often. Along with Peeves. Has Peeves been in any of the movies? Maybe Tim Burton will claymate or whatever it is he does, a version of the Harry Potter movies. It would be awesome to see his visual interpretation of the characters.Avatar Imagepotterfan4lyfe says: I'm almost done with Part One of the book!!!! Cant wait its getting so close!!!!!!!!!!!Avatar Imagedoughboy6390 says: Phoenix1946, the movie yet to come out. Don't pass your jugdements just yet and don't hate of those of us who will give the films a chance before declaring them unworthy. Have the movies been different than the books, yes! But the over all tone and theology in the books has been intact something JKR would cherish more than the act of how Hegwig died. If she approves the changes made then I do too, for without her we would not have this amazing series of books in the first place. The only changes that I have approved of is not showing Dumbuldore's funeral. But I am hoping they will show this at the beginning of movie 7 Part 1. All saying give the movie chance and if you don't then don't on the rest of us hardcore fans for it.Avatar Imagemaddison says: I love this quote because it also not only shows how bleak Voldemort is about house elves but about people as well. Hermione says it all !!!!!!Avatar ImageSilvery Doe says: @devilskinn I really think you are right and I hadn't really thought about book 7 in that way. Hermione really does take on a bit of a wise Dumbledore role as Harry's advisor.Avatar Imagenimbus2010 says: Cool quote.Avatar Imageminiginny says: Hermione sticks with house elves to the very end!Avatar ImageTheWaiter says: Me too @eccentracalice !!Avatar ImageTheWaiter says: Love this quote. Hermione is so wise, and not in this book smartiness or just a bit narrowed mind, but wise, like Dumbledore. Kreacher's tale just brings tears into my eyes. I've read the books twice and every time I wondered where is Kreacher when they leave him, and I'm always happy that he is safe and ok at Hogwarts. I justs feel so sorry for Kreacher in the seventh book, It's just tears. And that he finally accept Hermione, Harry and Ron. It's just heartbreakening.Avatar ImageTheWaiter says: Love this quote.
