There are now only 50 days left until "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" hits theaters! We are posting a quote from the first half of the book every day in celebration and to give us a chance to discuss and ponder the final book as it goes to film. Here is today's quote!
Back in his bedroom, Harry fiddled aimlessly with his rucksack, then poked a couple of owl nuts through the bars of Hedwig's cage. They fell with dull thuds to the bottom, where she ignored them.
"We're leaving soon, really soon," Harry told her. "And then you'll be able to fly again."

I think there was a lot of different thoughts going through Harry’s mind. Although the Dursleys never treated Harry as family, they were his only blood relatives. And now, instead of Harry leaving them, they were leaving Harry. Perhaps he felt some guilt about their being forced to leave their home, a source of pride for them and (until he and Ginny marry and make a home ) the only house he could remember. He was losing the protection of his mother, and an “anchor” ( albeit not one filled with happy memories ). Those constants in his life were changing, and not by his own bidding.

Tealover’s comment about 4 Privet Drive being Harry’s only home until he makes one with Ginny makes me wonder: Has JKR divulged anything about where Harry went to live after the Battle of Hogwarts, when he started working as an Auror? Did he continue the thankless task of trying to turn 12 Grimmauld Place into a cheery home, or give it up as a bad job? Has anyone heard her speak to this point?
