The Motion Picture Association of America has given “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ a PG-13 rating for “some sequences of intense action violence and frightening images.” It is the third Harry Potter film, after “Goblet of Fire” and “Order of the Phoenix” to have a PG-13 rating.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ will be released on November 19th. Thanks very much to Brent for the tip!

Avatar Imagehpfan89 says: First one to comment, and I'm super excited about this because the Half-Blood Prince was slightly disappointing with a PG-rating!!!Avatar Imagejillians642 says: Yes, Hermione just can't be tortured at a PG. It's good that it's rated here, assuming it's properly-earned and accurate.Avatar Imageemilykirstyn says: yesssss! this must mean that they didn't water-down some of the scarier aspects of the book (hopefully)! Avatar Imagemaimiaa says: yeahhhhhh, awesome.Avatar Imagegryffindor1991 says: no little kids shouting annoying things in the theater! :) HBP was terrible because of that.. when ron was poisoned little kids were yelling 'is he dead?' it was so irritating.Avatar Imageaccio_salmon says: Good!Avatar Imagevicki_the_house_elf says: Yay! When i saw HBP people actually laughed when Ron was poisioned! I remember turning round in my seat thinking 'what's happened, has someone walked in wearing a clown costume?' I just couldn't believe they laughed at that bit! Which is why i'm so excited to go to the midnight showing, i have a feeling all the people there will know the books as well as i do and won't be laughing at the wrong places.Avatar ImageSlyBones says: ... Nice.Avatar Imageabandonedboyjon says: thank god. it was such a relief to read in the set reports, i think it was david barron, talk about how they knew it would be PG-13 all the way, the filmmakers and warner brothers, so that's awesome because honestly, HBP could have been more violent and it felt like they pulled it back for the PG, which is such a dangerous game cause sometimes you pull it back and you kill it. should be awesome!Avatar ImageGryffindor_Girl_xx says: Yay! I like this rating, means I can see it without annoying 5 year old's in the seat in front of me yelling "Is she [katie bell] dead yet?" "What's happening?" "WHY IS IT SNOWING?!?!"(at the Hogsmeade bit).Avatar ImageHermione Elizabeth says: I'm just glad it's not PG.... I figured it wasn't going to get R, so PG-13 seems fine to me.Avatar Imagebadger666 says: I would have been extremely concerned if it didn't get a PG-13 rating.Avatar Imageforgetmenot_007 says: Great!Avatar ImageFleur-de- Lily says: yeahhhhhh, awesome.Avatar Imagenealiezealbie says: obviously.Avatar ImageJane_Potter says: My 10 year old sister just started crying because of that...Avatar Imagethundermountain7 says: yes i am so glad it is not pg i think with PG 13 we can see more action and depth in the movie so excited only 43 days Avatar ImageHPFC101 says: Can't wait for it!! I wouldn't care what it's rated! I'd still go! :)Avatar ImageMistic Willow says: AWESOME!!!! This did not supprise me a bit!!! I expected PG-13, Of course to me it would not matter even if it was R rated and even if the sky fell it would not stop me from going to see it!!!! lol!!!! Avatar Imagehermy007 says: yeah, i really didnt think it was getting a rated-R thing, wb would have cut off a big part of their movie-going demographic (young-ish teenagers) but with a topless hermione kissing and that torture scene in mm will definetly not make it pg, so a hard PG-13 rating is fine with me. bring on the intenseness!! :)Avatar Imagehonigmuffin says: Doesn't surprise me, and I think it's good they don't try and sacrifice parts of the plot for a lower rating. Well, we'll have to wait and see how it turns out even with a PG-13 rating, but yeah ;)Avatar ImageBless_the_children says: I guess that is why they are going to omit Peter Pettigrew's death - they really couldn't get a PG13 with someone being strangled to death.Avatar Imagesupervampy says: I don't know... they got away with Ron almost chocking to death in HBP.Avatar ImageKeaHellstorm says: yay :DAvatar ImageAZMMRavenclaw says: I would have been really concerned if it was only rated PG. I fully expected to have Part 2 rated PG-13 but it is a good sign that Part 1 was so rated as well. Here's a butterbeer toast that both parts are just what they should be!!! :)Avatar ImageFigment says: I'm glad that it is PG-13. I was kind of shocked when I went into HBP midnight showing and their were toddlers there. Hopefully this will keep parents from bring their real young ones till they have seen the movie.Avatar ImageHinkypunkmum says: ** joins AZMMRavenclaw in butterbeer toast ** Yay ! I am SO glad they are keeping to the storyline and not giving in to a Disneyfied production just for the little ones. This book was not meant for 8 year olds and neither are the films.Avatar ImageRosie016 says: I am soo sooo glad this is a pg13 rating!!!! I was very dissapointed when HBP was a pg! YAY for pg13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Avatar ImageLost Northern says: seirously i'm not sure if a 13 years can see someone tortured seriously when i see kid like to have 12 years in cinema and watch a movie with a lot of violence i'm like wtf you should not watch this movie and i do not want to see kid when i'm going to the premiere of harry potter and the deathly hallowsAvatar ImageNumeroUnoFan says: haha I wish it was R for gruesome violence, scenes of death, and rotting woman carcasses filled with giant pythons but ill take this 13 and know that pg13 is a lot more than it used to beAvatar ImageHarrypotterultrafan says: woooo:) that means they haven't cut out the scary bits !!!!!! :D:D:D:D can't waitAvatar ImageCrazy and Proud says: Yay! 43 days left! It was expected really after the last 2 movies were a PG-13 and DH has more intense scenes. Avatar ImageBeazle says: Just saw this on "Castingcallpro"- a website for actors - Running time for Part 1 is 110 minutes !!!!!!! See- http://www.uk.castingcallpro.com/film_view.php?uid=26022Avatar Imagehp931 says: PG13 is good with me! ;) In fact, it's perfect! No annoying little kids and I can still go! Besides, DH is defenly a PG13 or R book so, yeah.Avatar ImageKC Nox says: yay! That is exciting news. Now if only I can find somewhere to watch it when it comes out...Avatar ImageGryffindor Lioness101 says: PG 13 is good with me! Can't wait to see it! Avatar ImageWendelin the Weird says: Woho!! Good news!Avatar Imagemystiqueminx says: no surprises there,,, with that locket scene and hermione torture, this movie could never get a PG rating,,, it had to be PG13 or R...I am unsure of what rating it will get in IndiaAvatar Imageharrypotterfreak101 says: I cannot wait! I seriously can't! Who cares about the rating! Harry Potter is Harry Potter afterall?Avatar Imagez999993 says: Yes! I was kinda afraid that they might rate it R. Avatar Imagez999993 says: Yes! I was kinda afraid that they might rate it R. Avatar ImageSindi says: Im glad its pg 13! :D Avatar ImageLunaLuver says: Properly rated, the film couldnt be done right if it was PG.Avatar ImageBless_the_children says: I just hope more parents pay attention to the rating - there was a lot of negative news coverage about Goblet of Fire becuase parents didn't pay attention, to took their kids, and then were upset when their kids had nightmares. Kudos for giving the movie a proper rating!Avatar Imageazaadpotter says: No matter what rating it gets i would see it. even an age limit of 50 were imposed it wouldnt have stopped meAvatar ImageNot Slytherin says: I had assumed that HBP was rated PG-13 ... so I was wrong there. (I thought the inferi scene was terrifying -- I'm really surprised that was considered PG.) Oh, well. This is the correct rating for DH1, in my opinion. PG would've been too tame for this content, and R would've been prohibitive for too many fans. I would never bring my 4-year old to the theater for a Harry show (especially a premiere!!!) ... but I let her watch the dvd's at home, where I can control the sound or skip over parts that are too intense for her. (Haven't seen the dementor attack in Little Whinging for years because we always skip that part!) I'm not looking forward to telling her about Dobby .... Getting close, everybody!!!Avatar Imageglow_freak says: I hope this keeps all the action in!Avatar ImageSusmita singh says: This seems great. But can anyone explain me about the rating system of Hollywood movies.Avatar ImageJulietBlack says: Im not the least bit suprisedAvatar ImageGiant Squid says: Can't wait for the movie! I will see it 5 bazillion times no matter what its rated!Avatar Imagemystiqueminx says: @ Sushmita - Hey, no matter what that rating is it will be screened by the censor board again in India,, ,,that Hollywood movie rating is followed when they put the film in a TV channel ,,for theatre release, it gets an Indian rating,,,i am just hoping it does not get an "A" hereAvatar Imageblackhair says: @Gryfiin 1991 : I totally agree it was so annonying when the kids in theatre were fussing a lot when they saw Katie flying in the air when she touched the cursed necklace and when Ron got poisioned and when Harry/Albus enters the cave where dark creatures where dragging Harry along with them deep into the oceanAvatar Imageblackhair says: @hermy: I don't mind if the movie is rated "A". As u have already read the book u are well aware of each n every thing abt to happenAvatar ImageForTheGreaterGood says: i knew that it would be pg-13. thats the only way that they could show dan naked....which they seem to love to do....Avatar ImageForTheGreaterGood says: i knew that it would be pg-13. thats the only way that they could show dan naked....which they seem to love to do....Avatar ImageForTheGreaterGood says: i knew that it would be pg-13. thats the only way that they could show dan naked....which they seem to love to do....Avatar Imagewhyalltheglitter says: Great! I can't say I'm surprised. At all. I knew it wasnt going to be PG. That was completely out of the picture. And it being rated R would have been a bit of a stretch, also. I'm pleased with the rating. Hopefully parents will know not to take their young ones, too. Avatar Imagejhangelgurl says: Not surprising and doesn't bother me since im way past any age restriction.
