It is a beautiful looking film. Striking visual style – an underlying melancholy about it. Personally, I think the great Michael Gambon should have gotten a nom as well… but oh, well.

I’m sure that Avatar will win ;( well, DH WILL BE NOMINATED FOR BEST DIRECTOR, BEST ACTOR, BEST ACTRESS, BEST EVERYTHING… you’ll see ;)
So glad. I’m obsessed with the cinematography in this movie. Think of the beautiful symmetry employed in scenes such as Spinner’s End, and Malfoy shutting the blind on the door on the train, so textured and stylized. I wish he were filming DH as well.

Way to go HBP :)
It’s cool the movie was nominated. I havent seen any other of those movies that are listed but, I’ve heard about Avatar of course. But, I think the cinematography in HBP is spectacular so, hopefully that will be recognized and rewarded.

Can somebody explain how a flim that’s mostly CGI gets nominated in Best Cinematography? Anyway, I hope that if it’s not HBP, it’s not Avatar either. I would loose what shred of respect I have left for the Academy (if it’s Avatar). I hope they are doing HP like they did Lord of the Rings, because the HP cast and crew deserve MAJOR kudos!

I don´t think that there is more than 3 mins of full CGI in the movie. The rest augments plates shot by Monsieur Delbonnel. The whole movie was shot on 35mm film and beautifully lit by the Director of Photography and his crew. Then, it was digitally colour graded. And looks good enough to get this very well deserved nomination. I wasn´t sure it would get it, because it came out so long ago. And the Academy tends to forget films over time. :)
Sadly though, it will not win. :(
Either “Avatar” or “Basterds” will win …
So exciting! Go Half Blood Prince! Good Luck!
