"Half-Blood Prince" Wins Movie of the Year at RAAM Awards

Film Awards

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was awarded "Movie of the Year" at the annual RAAM Awards, which took place at a gala ceremony in London today at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square. Also nominated for "Movie of the Year" were "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" and "Up."

RAAM Award-winners are determined by box office data as well as by an advisory board comprised of representatives of the U.K. and Irish film distribution and exhibition industry. The Hollywood Reporter quotes Roger Pollock of Paramount Pictures on the success of the U.K. and Ireland at the box office in the past year:

For the first time the U.K market passed the £1 billion ($1.6 billion) mark. This is a major achievement and shows that despite the recession the U.K. and Irish cinema had a fantastic year. Box office figures confirm the public vote on the top movies released during the year.
More information on the awards can be found on the RAAM Awards website.

Molly43, I agree with you. Nice to know that we are not alone.

Somebody needs to start an award for movies made from books. The closer to the book, including detailed descriptions of characters and locations should win the top award. My nominations are: HP-SS, HP-CS, DaVinci Code, Angels & Demons, Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Another award for best continuity in a series. Cast, crew, costumes, locations, sets and set dressing, props, music, even dialogue should be considered and compared to the book. Award to the closest match. Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

And then there are awards for doing it wrong. They are called the RAZZIES. This is an actual award. Look it up. My nominations include HP-OotP at number 1 for all the things left out and/or changed, and HP-HBP for the things left out, changed and/or added but not in the book.

Phoenix1946, I could not agree more. LotR did a GREAT job with continuity!! and OotP was kind of an awful movie :/ sorry I just didn’t like it. It’s my fav book and they butchered it.
