Hey guys: we have our newest Mel on the Leaky team: we hope you'll all welcome Mel O., our newest editor, to the news! - Mel A!

A few days ago we told you that the xBox 360 demo for the LEGO Harry Potter Years 1 - 4 video game would became available today. We now have a video of that demo.

The introduction shows different scenes from all four years included in the video game, while the playable part of the demo we see in this video appears to be only from Year 1. When we begin to see someone play the game we see Ron learning the Wingardium Leviosa spell, and then the Trio practicing the Wingardium Leviosa spell. We also get to see someone playing as Fang in the Forbidden Forest after a sick unicorn escapes from Hagrid's hut.

Xbox owners can get the demo at the xBox LIVE Marketplace. The PS3 demo will be available later this month.

I played the demo through last night and was very happy with what they have produced. I really enjoyed the Lego Star Wars and Lego Batman games. They have outdone themselves on the Harry Potter Lego game. It’s better than all the rest by far. The environment is even more rich than I expected with more to do than anticipated. You can interact with so many aspects of the area around you. You get the option to swap between spells which gives me very fond memories of the really early EA HP games, which I adored. All around brilliant demo and I’m very much looking forward to the full game later this month. It comes out right around my birthday, what a birthday surprise for me!! Life is good.

For those that don’t have an xbox, you start out in Flitwick’s charms class where he is teaching the Griffindors and Slytherins Wingardium leviosa. Unfortunatley, Ron and his broken wand sends three other students up hanging on the chandeliers. You go around the room WL things until you lower down all three students. One neat thing is you can change into any of the trio as you go through the game. Leave the charms classroom an you see a cut scene of Hagrid nursing a unicorn back to health, the unicorn running away, then LV trying to attack it in the forbidden forest.
Game resumes with the trio, Fang and Hagrid deep in the forest. You get randomly attacked by giant bees until you destroy the hive. Fang can dig down revealing tunnels and you need to use lumos to get rid of of devils snare. You go around collecting lego studs, earn gold bricks and complete house shields.
