The DVD and Blu-ray Ultimate Editions of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” and “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” will be released on October 19th. The Ultimate Editions, which have already been released for the first two Harry Potter movies, feature expansive looks at the films. Each Ultimate Edition goes in-depth on a certain aspect of the Harry Potter movies, and the themes for the “Prisoner of Azkaban” and “Goblet of Fire” Ultimate Editions are “Creatures” and “Sound & Music”:

Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 3: Creatures
Never-before-seen footage of the Creature Shop! Explore never revealed
concept drawings, interviews with creators who describe the quest to
create real creatures with emotional power to move the adventure
forward. Go behind the scenes with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and
Emma Watson as they interact with a marvelous menagerie from magnificent
Buckbeak to malevolent Dementors. Watch creatures develop from page to
sketch to model to screen. Discover how actors are transformed from
humans to rats and werewolves. Witness Voldemort’s evolution from
grotesque, infant-like creature to the Darkest Force of all.

Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 4: Sound & Music
For the first time, discover how musical themes for Harry, Hedwig, Luna
and Lord Voldemort define each character’s identity. Learn how sound
effects experts create the crunch of footsteps on snow and the whoosh of
a flying broomstick. Visit recording studios and see how each composer
brings his orchestral vision to the films. Plunge into fun as Daniel
gets the sound of underwater. Feel the magic as music is added to a
scene, intensifying the emotion and steering the story.

In addition, each Ultimate Edition comes with a photo book, and two “collectible character cards.” You can read more about what comes with the “Prisoner of Azkaban” and “Goblet of Fire” Ultimate Editions here.

Those are two things I liked about the first ones...Avatar ImageJPHufflepuff says: No the site doesn't mention them. My brother and I think that they're waiting for Comic Con to make a BIG announcement regarding these Ultimate Editions. Because its with Year 3 on that they can take these to the next level with the footage that's never been released before put back in (GOF waterfall & Priori Incantatem explanation scene & POA Sirius' attacking Ron). If they don't include these, then shame on them. I will say it makes me suspicious because neither Leaky or MuggleNet mentioned the lack of Extended Editions in their post, which makes me wonder if they know something we don't because they're usually more thorough in their new posts. At the very least they would usually mention it was missing and say that they were looking into it with WB. I'm expecting a big announcement soon.Avatar ImageFresca says: These new releases sound interesting from a techical standpoint. I wonder if the announcements at Comic Con will have more details?Avatar ImageJPHufflepuff says: Btw, I don't know for sure if there will be announcements regarding these sets at Comic-Con, I'm just saying it makes sense and I'm hoping they do announce that these will have the Extended versions.Avatar Imagedobbyis_free says: yes! the third movie is my favourite out of the bunch and i cannot wait!Avatar ImageGryffindorGarstang says: Wooot! lol, i was just thinking of when these where gonna come out this morning.Avatar Imagezoltan42 says: The Digital Bits (http://www.thedigitalbits.com) has confirmed from WB that these will NOT be extended versions. I have the SS/PS UE, and the extended version is nice. However, since it just the deleted scenes (which are also included elsewhere in the set) added in, it's not up there with the LOTR extend editions. Far worse for me is that I've seen nothing about these editions having the In-Movie feature that the SS/PS & COS UEs and the HBP Blu Ray had. I felt that was far more substantial then the extended version.Avatar ImageHermione Elizabeth says: These extended editions are very cool and very tempting but I am waiting for the huge set of all the extended edition movies.... it's hard to wait but I think I can make it. ;)Avatar Imagedoughboy6390 says: I bought the first two Ultimate Editions and their were really cool. I without a doubt will be buy these ones. If by some chance they come out with a box set of the Ultimate Editions later I will buy them as a set too just cause I that nerdy. LolAvatar Imagejonk69 says: Why aren't they extended editions? That's so stupid. Especially since Goblet of Fire has the best deleted scenes. So dumb.Avatar Imagejonk69 says: Why aren't they extended editions? That's so stupid. Especially since Goblet of Fire has the best deleted scenes. So dumb.Avatar Imageigo2pigfarts says: thats my birthday! :D cant waitAvatar Imagerushingwater says: I can't wait to get them, I just wish I knew if they included the deleted scenes.Avatar Imagejulie50 says: Will they be available in Region 2, so far I have only been able to find the first 2 Ultimate Editions in Region 1 which is no good whatsoever if you live in the UK!Avatar Imagecritterfur says: Regarding why the Ultimate Editions of PoA and GoF might not include the extended versions...It could be because of director's choice. The first two films were done by Chris Columbus, who obviously offered some time to sit down and do the visual commentaries for both of them. He also likely gave WB the okay to release the extended versions of the films (I don't know how much say the directors have actually had in creating those longer versions that are sometimes shown on TV...I doubt that they're as involved as Peter Jackson was in constructing the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings films). So maybe Alfonso Cuaron and Mike Newell either didn't have the time or didn't want to do their own extended version commentaries. That's the hard thing when a series of movies is directed by different people...when a collection inevitably comes out, some directors might be more forthcoming in participating than others. Avatar ImageNot Slytherin says: I hate it when the marketers do things like this - I already have the movies. How many editions are you going to release? Ugh.Avatar Imagezoltan42 says: It turns out GoF does have the In-Movie pip feature but PoA doesn't.Avatar Imagekbicprez says: @NotSlytherin, I agree. The only objective here is to wring as much $$ as possible from the HP franchise. If fans are willing to buy 27 copies of each HP film, then WB is happy to oblige. KA-CHING. Avatar ImageLillylove says: YAY! I love the Ultimate Editions! (I was a hard sell at first, but once I was given the 1st, I've gotta have 'em all!).Avatar Imageweasleywannabe1997 says: I guess I would love Extended Editions, but as long as the deleted scenes are included somewhere on the set I would be happy. I loved the first two and will definitely be in line for these!!!Avatar Imageweasleywannabe1997 says: I guess I would love Extended Editions, but as long as the deleted scenes are included somewhere on the set I would be happy. I loved the first two and will definitely be in line for these!!!Avatar ImageJPHufflepuff says: I still think they're waiting to announce the big draw, the uncut, with never before seen footage extended films. The fact that even the deleted scenes by themselves are NOWHERE on the DVD, when they were on each UE twice for 1&2 makes me think that they're hiding something. If not, and they really don't include the EE i'll be PISSED BEYOND BELIEF!!!Avatar ImageHagrid 713 says: As others have said, I'll wait until everything is out and they put out the super duper mega extravaganza wicked cool editions that has everything! Already have two sets.Avatar ImageAgrippa1 says: I loved the first two packages, and they were extended editions - I'd be surprised if these aren't as well!Avatar Imagehalfbloodprincesss says: GoF has the BEST extended scenes I hope they have a change of heart at the last minutes and put the extended versions in but the documentary parts sounds amazing, I'm glad they are doing thisAvatar ImageCaracticus says: I got the PS & CoS UE's for Christmas... if the PoA and GoF UE's are NOT extended editions (with those scenes someone mentioned earlier in the comments that I've never seen!) then rather than buy the rest of the UEs, I will SELL the two I have and just watch the normal Blu-Ray editions I also have. That will save me about $300.Avatar ImageCaracticus says: I got the PS & CoS UE's for Christmas... if the PoA and GoF UE's are NOT extended editions (with those scenes someone mentioned earlier in the comments that I've never seen!) then rather than buy the rest of the UEs, I will SELL the two I have and just watch the normal Blu-Ray editions I also have. Avatar ImageIloveDobby says: aw i just bought the goblet of fire dvd :( my other one is lost now i can't get this oneAvatar ImageRavenclaw98 says: Sounds amazing cant wait!Avatar ImageGryffindor Cutie says: Excellent, I can't wait to get my copies.Avatar Imagepipkin3 says: Why aren't these out in the UK yet???Avatar ImageViccy6 says: Yes, I have to get prisoner of Azkaban! It`s the only one I don`t have ! :DAvatar ImageTheRealSlytherinHeir says: I think it might be extended editions, but there will be more details when they are announced at Comic Con... At least I'm hoping!!Avatar Imagehewy says: If the UE are not extended editions what's the use in buying them??? I plan to write to WB and request EE and tell them I will not be buying the UE without them.Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: Wow! I like the creature and sound stuff!!!Avatar Imagecritterfur says: Just thought I'd make another quick comment. I know lots of people are strapped for cash, and are waiting for some sort of Super Ultimate Set which will come out when the movies are all finished, but from what I can see, these Ultimate Editions ARE that set, they're just being released in staggered form, so that the timing of the release of the Ultimate Editions of Movies 7 and 8 will pretty much coincide with the normal Blu Ray release. It's very likely that whatever set is released after all the movies are finished will simply be these same Ultimate Editions, just in bulk form. Also, it's fairly unlikely that anything new will be added to PoA or GoF, since it seems that even the Extended Editions of those films shown on ABC Family weren't done with the Director's input...they were just the deleted scenes from the DVDs spliced in, probably by some random editor (with the producers blessing). There comes a point where extra footage is really just that, because it has no score recorded for it, sound effects and foley were never completed, and visual effects were never completed. Depending on how early in the process certain scenes were cut, they might be barely watchable, even in a deleted scenes section. For instance, watch the deleted scene from PoA which takes place in the Great Hall, in which Ron talks about the recent trip to Hogsmeade...there are supposed to be a number of effects in there, featuring kids playing with stuff they brought back from Zonko's, etc, but the DVD doesn't feature any of that. Unless a director takes a very personal investment in revisiting old material (like Ridley Scott, George Lucas, or Peter Jackson), Extended Cuts of films often fall a bit flat. Avatar Imagejaclyngirl713 says: I see what you mean, but I'm still very excited for these to come out!! They last ones were really cool. Avatar Imageenchantedsocks says: critterfur has made some very good points. I'm just waiting for these Ultimate Editions to be released in the UK. Surely they must do it eventually.Avatar Imagedoublecore says: Come on people, this is just another way of getting our money. I have all the dvd's in blue rey and that is good enough for me.Avatar Imagedoublecore says: Come on people, this is just another way of getting our money. I have all the dvd's in blue rey and that is good enough for me.Avatar Imagemagicmaniac says: sweet and gonna get itAvatar Imagebella vita says: WTH! NOT EXTENDED EDITIONS? Then why would I even buy them? F--- YOU WB! You can take these so called "Ultimate Editions" and shove them! If they're really not extended editions I'll be furious. WTH are they thinking? GOF has the best deleted scenes and they make the movie even better as anyone who watched it on ABC Family over the weekend knows! This BS is just so ridiculous! I bought the first two Ultimate Editions on bluray and was super excited to get all of the rest, but if they're not extended editions then I'm certainly not buying the rest just for some behind the scenes stuff that will end up all over YouTube anyway! To call them "Ultimate Editions" without them being extended editions is a JOKE! UNBELIEVABLE! Grrr... I hate WB.Avatar Imageashim_gryffindor says: Awesome! I'm gonna get 'em! Accio!Avatar ImageToNkS_rip says: AWESOMEAvatar ImageMoose_Starr says: Well I love the Ultimate Editions but, I'm with everyone that's kind of mystified by the lack of extended editions for these two movies. Surely they wouldnt release POA and GOF without the extended versions because, they are a lot of money *but* (imo) worth it for the extended versions, the extra behind the scenes stuff and, the cool book and cards. But, if there is no extended version of the movie, I cant see the logic because, otherwise they're just selling the cool book and cards and, a bonus disc with bonus features. Anyhows I guess we will hear more details nearer to the release date.Avatar Imagenowhere89 says: Awesome! They come out on my birthday!! Can't wait to get 'em!Avatar Imagethat granger girl says: I love the extended edition, I think they are really good. The cover of the third is quite attractive.Avatar Imagekatherine102678 says: Going to be released just in time for my birthday! Awesome!Avatar Imagemuggle..andproudofit says: What! not extened ??? I love the extened edition!!!!!.....sigh....But I'll buy it anyway!Avatar ImageKC Nox says: I am really torn by the lack of extended editions :( Avatar ImageFigment says: I don't understand why they aren't extended. That is why most of us want to buy them. :::sigh::Avatar ImageLonewolf_ says: Oh, I want those :)Avatar Imageazaadpotter says: Cool. cant wit for them to be out. im just longing for the extras.Avatar ImageNumeroUnoFan says: blu ray for me good ladies and gentlemen cant waitAvatar ImageWON_TWO says: I'll pass on these...Avatar ImageCzytt says: FYI the first two Ultimate Blu-rays are reqion free (as are just about all WB Blu-rays), so will play on UK machines. They work fine on my UK PS3. I, for one, will not be buying PoA and GoF is they are not extended editions.
