July 02, 2010, 06:53 PM
Warner Bros. have sent over the first official one sheet teaser poster for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Part 1 and Part 2 and you can check it out right here in our galleries.
The poster shows a burning Hogwarts castle from across the lake with flames and smoke rising from its towers. The tagline is set against a dark sky and reads: "It all ends here." Part 1 of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will be released on the 19th of November 2010, with the final installment to follow in mid-July 2011.
Many thanks to WB!
it’s brilliant :)
I find it interesting that some people feel the damage-level to Hogwarts is overdone in the film. I guess my interpretation of the final book was that Hogwarts was pretty much leveled, with all the scenes of entire walls crumbling, staircases being blasted apart, etc, so this poster matches my memories of the book. I always wondered, however, just how the school would operate in the years after the last battle with Voldemort…I’m curious about those intervening 19 years between the end of the battle and the epilogue at King’s Cross. Wouldn’t it be funny to see a First Year’s perspective, coming into that environment? Huge damage to the school, the emotional fallout from losing both teachers and students…it would be very strange. I always thought Harry lucked out a little with his first year at Hogwarts…It could just be because we saw the whole thing from an 11-year-old’s perspective, but beyond Harry’s own personal problems in the first book and film, nothing major is going on in the Wizarding World at large. When students and teachers talk about what happened in the recent years before Harry attended Hogwarts, they talk about Fred and George’s pranks, or how the Quidditch teams performed. Compare that with a First Year’s view of Book 2 – One of their fellow students seems to be going around attempting to murder them. Or Book 3 – These creepy cloaked soul-sucking things are flying around everywhere, and a supposed killer is on the loose. Or Book 4 – Giant international tournament (and no Quidditch games…which would stink if you were in Year 7 and wanted one last change to win the Cup). And imagine if in your first year at school, it was attacked and virtually destroyed. I know that Jo has talked about how she wanted there to be a feeling at the end of Book 7 that the survivors have to deal with things like guilt and sorrow (she mentioned that George never really comes to terms with Fred’s death, sadly), and also the process of rebuilding, the reconstruction and rebirth that comes after a terrible war, so I think it’s fitting that there’s not much left of Hogwarts in the end…it makes the task more monumental and epic.
Sorry that post was so long, by the way…
Remember, Hogwarts was built by Wizards, not stone masons. If Wizards could build it, then Wizards can rebuild it. The school’s teachers are a collection of very powerful Wizards who are certainly capable of using magic to repair what has been magically destroyed. Think “Repairo”. Remember, Harry has the most powerful wand ever and used it to repair his own wand. Why not repair Hogwarts?
for the people who think its horrible you obviously dont realize the epic finalaity behind it or the brillance. this is probably one of the most saddest emotional posters ever. the first movie began with the iconic castle all shinny new and exciting now its the castle again this time burning, dark, being destroyed showing that harry potter is sadly over and ending with one of the best taglines ever. i cannot wait to own this poster. when i first saw it i was blown away!
it looks amazing i want to buy it
Wow, this is stunning, and I absolutely love it! Definitely want to have this on my wall.
Omigosh!!! It looks great! “It all ends here” that gives me goosebumps!!
The image and use of color is really dramatic. It kind of sums up the feeling of the book in just one pic. If anyone hadnt read the book, they would likely get a shock at seeing Hogwarts in flames. The only thing that I dont like is, like with HBP they are now using HP6 and HP7 Like these books have titles, why not use them for the movies.
oh, very beautiful)))
Really is gorgeous, so happy they’ve come full circle with PS
What a gorgeous poster, yet it’s so sad to see Hogwarts destroyed and in flames. So sad. That is a very keen comparison of the two posters, kind of fitting really. We all started out coming to Hogwarts just like Harry and now, just as the poster says, “it all ends here”.
Do you notice that nowhere on the poster does it say Deathly Hallows? It says HP7. Interesting.
one word Wow………… its almost over……… sob
@critterfur, nice post.
