Avatar ImageZeGrindylows says: my favorite book was the fifth one.Avatar Imagevkooly says: Nice essay prompt!Avatar Imagevicki_the_house_elf says: Good idea! Can you enter if you're in the UK? My favourite book is Half-Blood Prince, the one that inspires me most is Deathly Hallows, and the one I'd suggest to first time readers would be Philosopher's Stone. So, my essay would probably end up being longer than 300 words! :DAvatar Imagesessionka says: I still would pick SS/PS.... Without Book 1, there would have been no Books 2 thru 7. I really wish I could re-capture the emotions I felt as I was reading it.Avatar ImageUnknown_Mist says: ya i agree, i would recommend book 1, but book 7 inspired me the most... and its really hard for me to write short things, sooooo 300 words is gonna give me a VERY hard time, its toooo little!!!!!!!!! :DAvatar ImageLunaLuver says: I'll def be writing an essay. My favorite is DH because we finally get to see what happens to, and with, everyone. But the book I'd suggest for others is SS, because without that you couldnt read the others.Avatar ImageG.Weasley says: I'd say DH because I found that inspiring I guess, I could say, i don't know which one I'd reccomend because well i'd suggest the first one so you know what's happening and aren't totally lost.Avatar ImageDrForester says: Something to introduce people to the Wizarding World. Regardless of which book is your favorite, how could anyone recommend anything but #1 to newcomers.Avatar Imagehandhrfan18 says: i already submitted my essay :], i picked the goblet of fire as my favorite book!Avatar Imagekyrstalkris says: That's amazing! I might join the contest :)Avatar ImageWON_TWO says: My fav will be book 8... But is it only open in the USA?Avatar Imagepurplehogwarts says: I really love them all too! I couldn't recommend that someone read one of the middle books (or last book!) without reading the very first one. They would be missing out on a lot of the story and would be lost!Avatar ImageFilmgirl152 says: Going to be tough to keep it less than 300 words - Fav is PoA and DH but gotta read the first (PS) one first.Avatar ImageAnaconda Beastie says: Nice I'm in!! That's really fabulous and such a good idea!! Avatar ImageAnaconda Beastie says: Nice I'm in!! That's really fabulous and such a good idea!! Avatar Imagewordsaremagic says: what do you mean "which book"? To me it's all one book broken into volumes so you can carry it around more easily.Avatar ImageTarana says: As there doesn't seem to be a prize, except publication on their website, I guess the contest is open to everyone, wherever you live. I'm not sure if I'll enter. On re-reading I find that they don't ask which book you would recommend first-time readers, but which book would you tell them to look forward to most? Well, all of them, but then in DH everytime is resolved. And I loved PoA very much, too. I always thought if someone is a bit reluctant to read HP, I would recommend them to start with PoA, because (especially if they have seen the first 2 movies, and who hasn't?) there is still a lot of exposition about the first 2 books, and it has a more funny and active start than PS and CoS. If I am being objective (really hard to do) the beginning of PS does little to draw in a reluctant reader (how 'perfectly normal' the Dursleys are and the 'excitement' of Vernons work...). Don't get me wrong, it didn't deter me, but well, people who don't know and actually don't want to know how great these books are, might be a bit put off. The book that inspired me the most, would still be PS, because it introduced me to this wonderful world and characters, and I thought it was awesome that a writer could conjure up such excitement about books out of virtually nothing, and without any commercial publicity to begin with.Avatar ImageTarana says: Sorry for the typos. In DH everything is resolved (obviously)Avatar ImageTarana says: Having just said, that I wasn't sure if I would enter, I suddenly got a spurt of inspiration. So there you go. I have entered. Good luck to the others who have.Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: Deathly hallows!!!!!!!!!
