Harry Potter Series Given Special Award from AFI

AFI has announced their nominees for their 2011 AFI Awards, and the “Harry Potter” series will be receiving a special award as it does not fit AFI’s criteria for other honorees:

AFI also gave “The Artist” and the “Harry Potter” franchise special
awards (AFI’s special kudos recognize films that don’t meet the org
general awards criteria, most notably that a production be primarily
American-generated).
