An article ran in the UK newspaper the Mirror today that claims that WB have earmarked a portion of Leavesden studios to become a UK rendition of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the Orlando Harry Potter theme park. We can confirm this is not true. WB has plans for the space on Leavesden, as has been previously reported, but a UK version of the US park is not among them.
However we will have news this week about WB developments for a look behind the film series, so stay tuned!

What is a Leavesden?

Leavesden is the huge British studio where they filmed all the Harry potter movies, @ Gene Lin.
That’s too bad, but I’m excited to hear what they’re doing with it instead!
They’re undertaking some pretty major building work there at the moment. There are what looks to be 3 new sound stages on the back of the lot (BT building side). They’re going up pretty fast. The cool thing is that with all the clearing they’ve done, you can now see the back of the Privot Drive houses from the road.

It is an absolute SCANDAL that a Harry Potter theme park had to be put in the US when the books and films are British… but will still be interesting to see what happens at Leavesden.

Even though I’m in the US I think it would be nice to hear tht the UK and other countries are getting a HP park. I think eventually it will happen as long as the popularity is still there. Hopefully they’ll do other HP films to keep it going. But they don’t usually build parks in studios, do they? I think they wouldn’t do it since it requires so much security to get onto the studio as it is.

I can see it happening in the UK but maybe some where else.

Agreed, somewhere in the UK, anywhere as long as it is in the UK! I don’t object to the wizarding world being in the US just as long as we get a version of it here in Britain as well… but maybe they think there wouldn’t be enough visitor numbers in such a small country?

Perhaps it is better not to have another park in Europe as the one in Orlando is still growing. Don’t want the “special” aspect to diminish. Would rather have more of the “movie magic” anyway like a behind the scenes look into the much loved HP films. To see sets, props, etc. in person would have an appeal unique to the studio.

I think a park in Europe would be great! It’s great that the one in Florida is still growing, but i’m pretty sure I’ll never be able to go there.. (I live in Belgium by the way) So one in Europe would defenitely attract people, and it would be most honourfull to the series, if it would be in the UK. I’ll defenitely visit it!
