Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) has today updated her official website with a post in response to recent rumours that she is taking time off from Brown because she was bullied. The actress writes:

id=”_mcePaste” style=”position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;”>Dear all,
id=”_mcePaste” style=”position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;”>I
felt the need to let you all know the reason I took a semester off from
Brown had nothing to do with bullying as the media have been suggesting
recently. I have never been bullied in my life and certainly never at
Brown. This ’10 points to Gryffindor’ incident never even happened. I
feel the need to say this because accusing Brown students of something
as serious as bullying and this causing me to leave seems beyond
unfair.
id=”_mcePaste” style=”position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;”>Please
don’t try and speculate about what I might do in September – no one can
possibly know because I don’t even know yet! Like my other fellow Brown
students I am trying to figure out my third year and whether or not I
will spend it abroad (this is common).
id=”_mcePaste” style=”position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;”>I
hope you all liked the new Harry Potter trailer. I am off to Pittsbugh
soon to start ‘The Perks of being a Wallflower’. I’ve just got back from
hanging out with Stephen Chobosky (the director and writer), Logan and
Ezra (the two other principal actors) and I already know this is going
to be an incredible experience. I feel very lucky.
id=”_mcePaste” style=”position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;”>Hope you are all doing good.
id=”_mcePaste” style=”position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;”>Take care,
id=”_mcePaste” style=”position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden;”>Love Emma xx.

Dear all,

I felt the need to let you all know the reason I took a semester off
from Brown had nothing to do with bullying as the media have been
suggesting recently. I have never been bullied in my life and certainly
never at Brown. This ’10 points to Gryffindor’ incident never even
happened. I feel the need to say this because accusing Brown students of
something as serious as bullying and this causing me to leave seems
beyond unfair.

Please don’t try and speculate about what I might do in September –
no one can possibly know because I don’t even know yet! Like my other
fellow Brown students I am trying to figure out my third year and
whether or not I will spend it abroad (this is common).

I hope you all liked the new Harry Potter trailer. I am off to Pittsbugh soon to start “The Perks of being a Wallflower”.
I’ve just got back from hanging out with Stephen Chobosky (the director
and writer), Logan and Ezra (the two other principal actors) and I

lucky.

Hope you are all doing good.

Take care,

Love Emma xx.

Avatar ImageValeria-Johanna says: That's good to know. I wish her luck with whatever she decides to do.Avatar Imagejyassa says: same but i hope she isnt lyingAvatar ImageRosie016 says: Its sad that famous people have to clarify stuff like this. But I never take much stock in what the media is saying about them anyways.Avatar ImageAceba says: Poor Emma!!! it's horrible that she has clarify rumors about her own life to feel okay....but I'm glad she wasn't bullied. Avatar Imagekbicprez says: I'm sorry that Emma felt forced to write this because of some tabloid rag. The obsession some people have with celebrities' private lives is just nuts. I feel sorry for the girl.Avatar Imageamericangirlemmie says: Its good she wasn't bullied.:)Avatar Imagemolly43 says: jyassa, I don't think she is lying. What she is saying sounds very reasonable and makes sense. I don't think we should make way for new and unfounded rumors for those in the media who like to stir up trouble. I appreciate her taking the time out to let us know what is really going on in her life. Emma we wish you great blessing in whatever decision you make. Avatar ImageHarrypotterultrafan says: I'm glad to know that she's not been bullied :) good luck Emma!! You are amazing! :)Avatar ImageFilmGirl27 says: This makes me smile, because it reminds me of Hermione stopping Rita Skeeter. ;-)Avatar ImageAbbyWeasley says: There was a rumor going around? Boy I didn't know that! Well, I am glad Emma wasn't being bullied and Emma, you are amazing! Can't wait to see your next project!Avatar ImageMariaKeis says: Why would anyone even bully a Harry Potter star? *No matter what Emma is amazing and if anyone ever bully her there just jaloux!Avatar ImageWeenyOwl says: How ironic that she felt obligated to write this comment a day or two after President Obama had to stoop to holding a press conference to shut up the 'birthers' (and that total creep The Donald still seems to be insisting that it isn't true unless he gets to hold the birth certificate in his hand and inspect it personally - what are they supposed to do, order an official copy for every citizen of the US?). Rumor, innuendo and conspiracy theories have replaced actual news in the era of reality TV. It's so depressing. Interesting choice of words on Ms. Watson's part: 'Hope you are all doing good.' She's way too smart for that to be a grammatical error for 'doing well.' It's a nice reminder for us all to ask ourselves, 'What good have I done in the world today?' Avatar Imagekbicprez says: @WeenyOwl, I LOVE your post and not just because I agree with everything you said. LOL about the grammatical error! Avatar ImageCatdelaCreme says: I haven't heard that rumor either. Poor emma! having to deal with that.Avatar ImageFleur-de- Lily says: I’m glad to know that she’s not been bullied :) good luck Emma!! You are amazing! :)Avatar Imagejammergrl91 says: It is definitely great she is not being the subject of bullying. On the other hand, this throws some confusion on the latest news concerning Watson. She refers to Brown students as her "fellow Brown students", which suggests that she is still enrolled at the institution. Is this just a mistake on her part as this was probably just a quick little something she jotted down or is she actually staying at Brown? Not that today's media (or at least many of today's media) is very reliable to begin with but there have been several reports that her representation has confirmed that she is leaving Brown University.Avatar ImageBellasRiddle says: Kinda sad she has to clarify.. But anyways, good luck with finding out what you want to do Ms. Watson :)Avatar ImageMimblewimble13 says: So what if someone did yell "10 points to Gryffindor" when she answered correctly in class? That's not bullying, that's just funny, as long as everyone is good-natured about it and doesn't beat it into the ground.Avatar Imagekyrstalkris says: I love how she says, "I feel the need to say this because accusing Brown students of something as serious as bullying and this causing me to leave seems beyond unfair." She cares so much about everybody! =] Avatar ImageIsabella Cauldwell says: I am real glad she has not been bullied! Emma is a truly original person, and deserves to not be bullied. Avatar ImageExpectoPatronum512 says: ooh poor Emma! She is so wonderful, and I wish her the best of luck :)Avatar Imagemoglet says: Good for Emma, it was definitely something she felt she needed to do since other people were being accused of something that they had not done, her sense of fairness obviously would not allow this rumour to persist. She is a very good example to us all.Avatar ImageethanHP says: I'm happy she's never been bullied. It's a pity some of her castmates has not been that fortunate. I've just seen a pic of her and Dan after his last night performance in How to Succeed, it really cute. Btw, he is being nominated to all the biggest theater awards, just today he received his second Drama Desk Award nomination, I'm surprised Leaky has not mentioned this, it's a big honour.Avatar ImagePHONELADY says: What she is saying sounds very reasonable and makes sense. I don’t think we should make way for new and unfounded rumors for those in the media who like to stir up trouble. I appreciate her taking the time out to let us know what is really going on in her life. Rumor, innuendo and conspiracy theories have replaced actual news in the era of reality TV. It’s so depressing. Avatar Imagedevilskinn says: She's so great to clear the rumours! What people won't make up :-s I do hope, Emma, you have a superb time filming the picture and that you can figure out what you are going to do next :)Avatar Imagedevilskinn says: PS. All you fans will be behind you, fully :DAvatar Imagestinka says: What's really sad, is that the original source of the rumor was from a gossip column, and instead of the legitimate media ignoring it, they too reported it as fact! That's a d#mn shame.Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: Well, whatever you do, good luck Emma!Avatar Imagealexianicole21 says: Good for you Emma! Protect your fellow Brown University students! =]Avatar Imagebudgie says: I'm glad that she has so much work coming in. That makes the best reason for taking time off from school.Avatar Imagebutterbeer bottle says: It infuriates me that the only thing tabloids can do is create crappy rumors about people, and that Emma has to go around clarifying this. And, as always I'm glad fansites like Leaky actually have integrity and don't post these rumors as news. Avatar Imagetinagin says: Emma: You are a class act. Love ya!!! Avatar Imagejillians642 says: Heh, if she's already studying in the States isn't going abroad for a year a tad redundant? ;-) Definitely not a good sign about the times between this sort of post and the bullying Obama finally gave into. Is media-based bullying at all time highs or is it just a cycle, especially since they're not allowed to post bad things about Kate?Avatar ImageMudblood_and_proud says: Glad she isn't being bullied because i would stand beside her 200000%Avatar ImageMudblood_and_proud says: Glad she isn't being bullied because i would stand beside her 200000%Avatar ImageMudblood_and_proud says: Glad she isn't being bullied because i would stand beside her 200000%Avatar ImageMiss.Weasley says: Great to know! I heard the '10 point to Gryffindor' when she just started college and I thought 'oh wow, this will be hard for her', but she's tough and just so nice that no-one could ever bully her! Glad she's ok and that she's stepping back to figure stuff out- WAY TO GO ;}Avatar Imagechinmayrgordey says: ‎"Don't stay in bed, unless you can make money in bed." - George Burns so emma wish u best luck fo ur studiesAvatar ImageDavidTheUnready says: good luck with the next film, that's way more important than tabloids filling space on a page :)Avatar ImageLivi22 says: I'm glad to hear that the rumours aren't true, bullying is an awful thing and it's good to know that Emma is going throough all that. I wish her luck with her future studies. Avatar ImageDeanna Malfoy Lovegood says: I'm glad that Emma hasn't been bullied, why don't the press just mind their own buisness? Making up a story is just so offensive! Do they not have lives? Can't wait for Emma's new film! :)Avatar Imagekiwimci says: I never believed this anyway, I never believe anything they write. Only if it comes straight from the horses mouthAvatar Imagetrontech says: I'm with mimblewimble. My first thought was, "Ten points to Gryffindor?...in an American school? That could be great fun if you're among friends". And how could a room full of intelligent people not like Emma? Even admire her a bit? Besides, Emma knows how to deal with fire breathing dragons. A Malfoy type wouldn't stand a chance trying to bully her.Avatar ImageWON_TWO says: Good luck with that "he said, she said" stuff...Avatar ImageVincenza says: This is really great to know! I'm so glad she hasn't been getting bullied, she really doesn't deserve it. Avatar Imageweasley4me says: Who could pick on Emma, not suprised this was fake news.Avatar Imagedork88 says: I had no't heard that rumor but feel that its a shame she has to clear up everything that is said about her in the media.Avatar Imageharrypotterfreak101 says: That's good to know. Although the thought of her being bullied at Brown does seem a bit ridiculous. I mean, especially at this age....No one really gets bullied. Maybe they do, but in my opinion I don't think she left Brown because of that. And now it's been proved!Avatar Imagehermione62091 says: I knew that was not true. Only when I believe it when I hear her say it.Avatar ImageArnab2612 says: I hope it's not a lie.. good luck emma... Avatar ImageMiss.Bellatrix says: Blech. dang media. That's good to hear Emma! Keep up the hard work, you're an awesome actress!Avatar Imagehewy says: Had not heard the rumor before hearing her rebuttal. Sad what we believe these days - yellow rag rumors, garbage on the internet, unreal "reality" shows, etc. Pathetic!!! Way to go Emma!!!Avatar Imagejhangelgurl says: I didn't believe it, though it is sad that she had to clarify a rumor. Avatar Imagehermioneweasley17 says: She's dispelled those rumors once before in the Time Magazine article where they asked her "Ten Questions". Thank God nobody at Brown was ignorant enough to actually bully her, I mean she's Emma Watson! How could anyone actually bully her? She's too awesome.Avatar Imageclj124 says: I tend to belive that some frat boy did say the 10 points line but she had nothing to do with not going back to Brown at this time. She has been called much worse than that I am sure in her life and would not let something silly like that scare her away. She said what she did for others who are being bullied.Avatar ImageMimblewimble13 says: I don't know about the bullying, but wouldn't it suck if she went to one of her classes and the teacher said, "Ah, Ms. Watson, Our new... celebrity." Run away Emma! Fast!Avatar ImageMimblewimble13 says: I don't know about the bullying, but wouldn't it suck if she went to one of her classes and the teacher said, "Ah, Ms. Watson, Our new... celebrity." Run away Emma! Fast!Avatar Imagebiblegirl says: We love you EmmaAvatar ImageOh Neville says: Sounds like Rita Skeeter is still quilling her best-sellers. Good for you, Emma, standing up for the truth, and sorry you felt the need to respond to the likes of this trash. Avatar Imageultraviolet says: im glad it was all a rumour... but at the same time... it would have been hilarious if someone did shout 10points for gryffindor... but i can imgaine emma just finding it funny
