J. K. Rowling Among Public Figures Named as “Core Participants” in UK Phone Hacking Investigation

J.K. Rowling
The Guardian is reporting that Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling is among 46 public figures who will be able to give evidence as part of an ongoing investigation of phone hacking and priviacy violations in the UK. Ms Rowling and the other 45 public figures have been classified as “core participants” in the inquiry, which means they are able, either personally or through legal representation, to give evidence on their “experience of alleged media intrusion to the inquiry, which begins in October at London’s Royal Courts of Justice.” This status does not explicitly say whether Ms Rowling herself was the subject of any unscrupulous activity by the media, just that she is able to give evidence in the case. We will have more information as this story develops.
