Dan Radcliffe will be starring in a special segment during the 85th Academy Awards, which will air on February 24th:
"We were bewildered," says Zadan. "How can you have the biggest franchise in motion-picture history, Harry Potter, and yet no one has ever been on the Oscars? (It) was strange to us.''
Zadan and Meron have a long history with productions that feature music and a recent association with Radcliffe: They are executive producers of the NBC series Smash and produced a revival of the Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which starred Radcliffe in 2011-12. Zadan says "music in movies'' will be a theme of the Oscars, but he won't reveal what roles the stars will play.
"We want people to guess what are they going to be doing. We're just not saying," he says. "But it will be a substantial bite. It's a big deal."

Finally! As an American, I always felt confounded that Academy voters never seemed to consider any aspect of the Harry Potter films for recognition. My vote would be to present Academy Awards of Achievement to David Heyman, David Baron, David Yates (and all Directors), and Stuart Craig for their outstanding work on all eight Harry Potter films, and of course to Steve Kloves for the script writing, and the highest award of all to Jo Rowling for starting it all with her seven books that will remain classics for all time.

They are a joke, and I never watch the ceremony, but this year I almost wish that I had cable TV so I could see little Quvenzhane Wallis get her big night out in a grownup evening gown. She was so wonderful in ‘Beast of the Southern Wild’ and deserves to have a magical night to remember, even though she probably won’t win.

I find Daniel Radcliffe should at least get a recognition award or something – he carried the lead character through eight (!) films, starting as a very young kid and growing up to be a fine actor. Come to think of it, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Tom Felton should receive acknowledgement as well.
Can’t wait!!!!
