David Thewlis David Thewlis Professor Remus Lupin
Born: March 20, 1963 in Blackpool, Lancashire, England

A graduate of the Guildhall School of Drama, David Thewlis began his career in several small roles, including a spot on the UK Television series The Singing Detective which starred later fellow Potter actor Sir Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore). David was catapulted into the public's eye when he appeared to much acclaim, in Mike Leigh's film Naked. For this performance, David won a host of awards, including ones from the Evening Standard British Film Awards and the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. David has turned in notable performances in Seven Years in Tibet and Dragonheart where he co-starred along side later fellow Potter actor Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy). In 1998, again working aside Jason Isaacs, David Thewlis was nominated for his work in Divorcing Jack by the British Independent Film Awards. Other notable performances were seen in the TV miniseries Dinotopia, Timeline, and recently David starred in the epic Kingdom of Heaven with Orlando Bloom and in Terrence Malik's The New World with Christopher Plummer. David will be back as Remus Lupin in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and recently released his first novel The Late Hector Kipling. Residents of London, David and his partner Anna Friel recently celebrated the birth of their first child in 2005.
