HBP a Hit in South Africa
The Sunday Times of South Africa reported in August that the release of HBP shattered all previous records there, selling 40,000 copies in its first day. As of August 21 it had sold 65,000 copies, knocking Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code from its position as number one best seller.
Variety: OotP Budget "north of $150 million"
Variety reports that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth film, will have a budget of more than $150 million. It also notes that this has little to do with salary: "'Potter,' [doesn't] have a star with anything close to a $20 million payday."
