Its been a while

Its been a while since I have made a blog post, a lot has happened in the past month. I’ve moved, started a new job, got a new kitten, and finally sat down and read the entire Twilight Series. As I sit here writing this, I can’t help but think of Harry Potter in a new light. I have Harry, A History sitting next to my night stand as I’m attempting to read it, Beetle the Bard is coming out within the next few days, and I’m happy. Harry Potter has brought me a new family, one I couldn’t even have imagined I would have when I started the series almost 9 years ago. (Holy carp…9 years ago!!!)

My love for Snape grows even more everyday. I’m currently trying to get caught up on my Reading Group schedule so I can start posting again, and I forgot just how much I love the series and Snape. I wonder how many of you have read other series to come back to something that just feels like home? I realize that we won’t have another “first” like we did with Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows or any of the other 5 books for that matter, but we are still a family.

Maybe I’m sentimental because we just had Thanksgiving and I was able to hang out with family, or maybe it is because I get to hang out with parts of my Leaky Family now that I’m in my new town, but I realized just how thankful I was for each and every one of you. I have friends that reach all the way over to New Zealand that I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for a small story about a boy wizard.

I’ve also, in the past few months, begun to come to terms with the fact that I’m a true Slytherin, but make not mistakes, I would have been there fighting at Hogwarts in the end of Deathly Hallows. I think of Snape’s death, and how important that death really was to the story, to me, and to Harry. He was the hero of the series (aside from the trio and countless others) and that’s all that matters to me.

Over the past year the fandom has had a lot happen to it, we’ve had a lawsuit, a movie pushed back 9ish months, and no new books, but its still my family…our family, and for that I thank you all.
