Feeling A Bit Like Harry

The death of a loved one never comes easily, does it?

I recently spent a week at a camp, where I didn’t have access to a phone, a computer, or anything like that. What that meant for me, when I came home, was the news of a family member who had died while I was gone. My Great Grandma, age 98, had passed away the day before I came home. I didn’t get to say goodbye or be there at the hospital to assure her that we were all there by her side. And so now, as I am writing this blog two days after the funeral, I am feeling a bit like Harry… It is in instances like this that I can most relate and feel like Harry; I was blocked off from communications with the ‘real world’ as Harry was with the Wizarding World, and the reaction to the death of our loved ones were and are thus delayed in a way. I may not have received lies as to how my Grandma died, such as Harry did with his parents, but I still don’t know many details about her death. And so as we grieve for the loss, I remember this quote from Dumbledore:

“‘It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.'”

Dumbledore truly does have inspirational words, doesn’t he? Through the potter books, I am now able to put quotes such as that into every-day instances to help me get through life. I have now accepted my Grandmother’s passing, thanks to the wise words of J.K. Rowling through Dumbledore in the books.

I want to apologize for such a short blog this week– other weeks will be longer, don’t worry
