This is a great article, and I agree with Nathan that up play la you the ok. It was so hard to put that into words, but somehow he captured it…

Thank you for sharing your thoughts this Christmas, Jessica. The Godric’s Hollow scene is also one of my favorites in the series – it is so tender & intimate. I am sorry for your loss – no matter how recent or distant in time someone dear to you dies, there are always special times that bring them back to you, whether it be a flood of emotion, just a memory, whatever. I love the creative way JKR shows us that in these books. May 2009 be a great one for you.

Last year was also my first as a HP fan. As I was reading your article, I had never thought of the Godric Hollow chapter the way you described it. The book kept me wondering what was going to pop out next. But as you described it, it seemed peaceful and very beautiful. Thank you for giving me a different outlook on this entire chapter.

I always wondered why you went to the candlelight service by yourself. I’ve been under the impression you thought no one would go with you! I never know you’re going, and every year I think “I wish I would have known so she wouldn’t have to go alone!” but now I understand. It’s nice to separate yourself from the consumer spirit of Christmas in order to spend time alone and/or with God.
I, as mentioned, understand your love of all things HP. Hope you’re enjoying your anniversary edition of TSS :)

A beautiful post! That line in DH always brings a smile to my face too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :D

Your thoughts on christmas and connecting to Godric’s Hollow were compelling and vivid.
Friendship and family also themes repeated again and again in the books but Harry was always an outsider with his own path ahead of him
-something many people can relate to -happy holidays
