When Worlds Collide!

I’m going to share with you a little bit of what I did this weekend. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some things, but this should be a pretty decent overview:

* Filmed part of my Room 3428 Vlog
* Finished the Newsletter edits
* Completed Early Reader Edit of Seer Quest, Book 7 in the series
*Went to the Narnia exhibit at the Arizona Science Center with my children
*Oovoo’d with my friends on Friday and Saturday night (until it jammed up on me and wouldn’t let me see people¦ pffffffft)
*Watched Vlogbrothers January 2007 ’ February 2007 videos
*Cleaned the house
*Worked on the Parent Packet FAQs for LeakyCon
*Watched movie with the kids (Penelope¦ it was cute!)
*Did all the laundry (my goodness, how can two kids generate THAT much dirty clo?)
*Completed the FAQ revision for LeakyCon main page (different than the Youth, mind you!)
*Changed the cat’s litter box (YUCK!)
*Took kids out for chicken and waffles (sounds weird but YUMMY)
*Grocery shopping
*Checked work email to make sure nothing horrible happened
*Watched Fellowship of the Ring & Two Towers (Love LotR!)
*Completed Quest Book Website Updates and sent them to my Webmistress with the mostest Addie
*Worked on a You Tube page for Quest Updates (yeah!! We’re vloggin’ now, friends!)
*Wrote a potential future newsletter article
*Started packing for a cross country trip extravaganza (& I’m limited to one small duffle bag because the trunk space in a BMW Z3 is like¦ negative 20 square feet)
*Played the role of single parent for the weekend and hosted playdates on Sat & Sun
*Wrote this blog (and posted it… now that is a marathon!)

Now, even I look at that list and think “Holy Crapoly, how did I do all that?”

I’m not telling you about a typical weekend in my life (ok, the single parenting part is not typical, which is probably why this weekend it struck me that my worlds collide with regularity) just so you can heap praise and disbelief upon my in-need-of-a-root-job head. Nope, I’m telling you this because if I can do it¦ so can you.

There are two key issues working here. One is multitasking. Some is easy- folding laundry while watching LotR and setting aside the clo that will make it into the microscopic duffle? EASY!! Setting up You Tube and doing the background for my channel while oovoo’ing with my buddies was a little more challenging. But it all can be done. I’m proof of that fact.

The other issue is that of maintaining a proper balance between work, family, fun, friends and obligations. I think the above shows a really neat mix of the bag that is my life. I’m not just a mom, or a writer, or a volunteer, or a wife. I’m all of that, and more. The totality of my life could very easily run away with me, or one area overshadow everything else if I didn’t take a step back and make sure that I’m giving due diligence to all the important things to me. I do all these things because it fulfills me on so many levels ’ professional, personal, family- and I’ve worked hard to make it all, well, work!

And now¦ I have to finish this blog because I need to go and work on the blurbs for the different Houses for LeakyCon. We’ve come up with an innovative and fantastic way of running Houses for the conference, one I think you will all appreciate. It will support House Unity and House Pride and take our conference to the next level of community service. Then, I guess it’ll be time to make dinner for the kids (who knew they had to be feed EVERY night? Geesh) and oversee baths and get all geared up for the coming week.

Until the next time I blog¦ have fun, and keep the balance.

Favorite Quotes of the weekend:
Trey at Lolo’s describing the mac ˜n cheese: It’s like heaven in a cheesy noodle!

Marley watching FotR: Did Gandalf mean to fall off the bridge, Mommy?
Me: Nobody chooses to fall into the depths of Mordor with a Balrog, Marley.
