I’m sort of between projects right now, having just finished three somewhat large ones as gifts. My son and his best friend graduated college at the beginning of last month and my boss had a special event in her life last week and for each of them, I chose to crochet something as gifts. Those projects have been finished and given and currently, I’m trying to decide what particular item I want to start now.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have several things in progress — a granny afghan for The Linus Connection as well as some six inch squares for them. Also, my Doctor Who scarf that is making very slow progress as its one I don’t pick up and work on constantly. But I have some projects I want to start that are sitting waiting for me to begin and I need to sort out and pick one to consider as my ‘main project’ out of the several I have going at one time.

Several, yes you did read that right. I am a ‘mood’ worker and sometimes like to have something to switch off to when ‘the mood strikes’. Also I like to have basic repetitive patterns that I can take with me to work on when waiting at various times. But I’ve found I need to have something with me to work on most of the time. It’s second nature to be crocheting or occasionally knitting on something.

What has become interesting is how it opens up opportunities for conversations I might never have had otherwise when I work on it while out waiting. Crafting has not only become something to occupy time and accomplish projects but its given a chance to meet people I might not have known at all otherwise.
