Mission: CRAFTY Organization

September 07, 2010, 04:44 PM

So, I don't know about everyone else, but I don't do your typical "Spring Cleaning" and very often I find myself under a mountain of STUFF.  You know the show "Hoarders?"  How about "Clean Sweep?"  Any of those shows where you see a mad collection of stuff that gets cleaned out and organized...that's me.  I would be a great participant, except unlike those people who claim to be embarassed and ashamed, I really am.  I refuse to air my unfortunate housekeeping skills on national television.

I always find a nice holiday weekend like Labor Day, where I work all weekend long, to start cleaning things out.  Which brings us to the topic of the day.  Crafting stash.  Please note: I did not say Yarn, or Bead, or Paper.  No.  I said Crafting.  Because in every room in my house - yes, that includes rooms that aren't mine, per se - I have a bin, or a box or just a mere pile, of crafting stuff.

As I went looking for my copy of the Sorcerer's Stone DVD, I found a yarn stash to rival any local yarn shop.  I also found lots of wire, beads, pliers, scrapbook backgrounds, empty scrapbooks, glue.  Admittedly, sitting here at my desk I am looking at a cup full of knitting needles, various sizes of course, and crochet hooks.  There is a pile of seed beads on my desk just beyond my keyboard, and my feet are resting on, yet, another pile of yarn.

And I wonder why I can't ever find what I'm looking for.

Of course, I have so much else to do, what with feeding the kids, laundering their clothing, and just keeping the house live-able, that organization of my crafting stash seems like such a foreign concept.  I hope, and I wish, and I pray but I don't really know when I'll get to it.

What does your stash look like?  Is it organized?  Do you have a room to yourself?  And did you spend any money to organize your stash or did you just work with what you had?

Merlin help me!  I think a good organizing charm would do well here.
