Up next: Adrian Lester!

Adrian Lester

Again, not someone who’s going to be super-familiar to Americans, Adrian Lester is picking up name-recognition and screen time right and left in the UK. Most recently, he starred in a “CSI meets Indiana Jones” (or so I’m told) drama called Bonekickers, but the show is being canceled after its first season. His career (at least according to IMDB) goes back to the early nineties, spanning both film and TV, including an appearance as “Simon” in The Day After Tomorrow.

I think I like Paterson Joseph better, of the two actors I’ve profiled so far, but I’m not anti-Adrian Lester. Just not as excited about him as I am about Joseph. I do think Adrian Lester could pull it off. After all, David Tennant himself says the role is a blank canvas, right? So as Tennant put it, “The fact is that the difference is a virtue with each Doctor. It’s not
like you’re casting Tarzan where you’ve got to have somebody who looks
good in a loin cloth. It can be anything.”

I think my main objection to Adrian Lester is that he looks a bit younger than Paterson Joseph. I think we’ve seen enough of a young, dashing Doctor. Time to get a little maturity, maybe? But who knows? Sky’s the limit!
