Applications for submitting exhibits and/or programming to Leaky Con 09! Yup! That link is where you can submit presentations, tutorials, or your wonderful talented work for the FAcrafts room. However, submissions close at the end of the month so please make sure you get your ideas for exhibits submitted before the deadline! The work itself does not have to be completed till the conference but we need to know you wish to provide an exhibit! You know you want to! :) Anything you could...

Hi, long time no see ^_-I was busyBusy? *looks skeptical* Been gone long enough.Yeah, well had things to do so...So nothing, about time you got back here! *gets crafty glue gun and makes sure blog can't take off again*Hey, that's not fair*grins* Yeah, I know.Ok, now that that's all settled, sorry for the disappearing act but as they say in television, we were interrupted for some technical difficulties! But things are settled now and we're back once again. It's been...

Dear President Elect Obama,I know you are kind of busy now, but while you are preparing for your new job and all, I wanted to chat with you about this thing we like to call school. When my grandparents came to this country, they knew that they'd have jobs and that their kids would be educated. The promise of this "new world" was grand, but my grandparents believed it. Many years later, many of us have not forgotten that promise. We may have lost site of it, but we're counting...

Polyjuice Potion. Metamorphmagi. Or maybe just a little help from Madam Pomfrey. If you were a witch or wizard, would you ever choose to change your appearance by magic? We all cut our hair, tattoo our skin, get pierced, lose weight, straighten our teeth. But what if you had more than Hermione’s buckteeth or Eloise Midgen’s acne? What if you had body parts you didn’t want? Hair growing where it shouldn’t? What would you be willing to do...

First off Fred and I would like to apologize for our long silence. Unfortunately our transcription elf, MirandaV, has been rather busy lately and we have absolutely no computer know how and must rely on her availability. So the holidays just passed and we had a banner year at the Weasley house. We all got new sweaters (surprise, surprise). Miranda had a great Christmas too, her new babies (Part of the reason she hasn't been around to help us out is she gave birth to her own little Gred and Forge,...

This year, I spent Christmas with Harry. Last year was my first Christmas after reading Harry. But this year was different. This year, my Christmas was fully intertwined with Harry Potter. My family thought it pretty strange that over half my Christmas list contained Harry Potter books or items. (Only 1 member of my family reads Harry, which is my cousin, so they don’t really understand.) Then I got Jingle Spells 2, and it was my official soundtrack...

I’m sorry I haven’t updated in a month. New Year’s Resolution #1: Update blog more. And by virtue of the craziness of the holidays being over, I’m sure that’s one I’ll be able to keep. Now, on to the blog. It’s sort of a running joke in the Potter fandom that any ship goes. For any combination of characters, you can usually find at least a few shippers lurking around the internet. And having seen my fair share of funny, wacky, or improbable...

I hope everyone has been having a wonderful holiday thus far, and for those of you who celebrate Christmas like I do, Merry Christmas! Yesterday my mom and I made a cheesecake and she cut into it before it cooled. I'm sure it tasted fine, but I like my cheesecake completely cooled. It tastes different when it's warm, more like a custard. But I didn't log on to talk about cheesecake. This year I am so thankful for my family, friends, and my Leaky peeps. I am blessed...

It’s been many, many years, I thought I’d probably grown out of it, but the spotlight seems to have finally found me again! Or I it, actually, as I was the one looking. As a child, I was always on a stage somewhere, showing off in some way or other. It started with piano recitals, then I added dance and finally I joined various bands and sang in school musicals. Show me a stage and I’d be first in the queue to get on it. I suppose it’s all to do with the young having no fear, because...

I just baked cookies. Homemade, decorated sugar cookies are a tradition with my boys. We make cookies, fudge and divinity three days before Christmas to give to all of our neighbors. (We eat as much as we give away) The smell is my kitchen right now is divine. If I could capture the smell and put it in this post I would, but you'll just have to imagine it right now. (One sniff and you gain a pound! It's that good.)I'm hoping the crumbs don't drop into...

Sorry for the recent silence after a multitude of blogs. I've been home for a week and just been enjoying myself and catching up on my Leaky work (transcribing for PotterCast and LeakyCon stuff) and then we went to visit relatives a couple hours away and we just got back yesterday. That was a lot of fun- they've got three dogs: a female pomeranian, a male australian shepherd, and a male rottweiler x german shepherd x chow mix. The rottweiler mix is my favorite, he's so big but...

If you've been keeping track on the Doctor Who website, today's advent calendar item is a new trailer for the Christmas special, "The Next Doctor." It gives a little bit more of a taste of what's to come (and a hint of coordination between our Doctor and the other one, played by David Morrissey). If you're not in the UK, you'll have to go check out youtube.com to find it since the BBC website videos are blocked in the US for rights reasons. But it's worth the search!Morrissey made an appearance...

I visited the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince set in Leavesden almost a year ago; filming had been under way for weeks but the future was unclear: it was the midst of the writer’s strike, and while the decision to split the final movie into two hadn't yet been announced, everyone was talking positively about the possibility.I’ve been visiting the sets since late 2003, and each year they build on the years past: The Gryffindor Common Room now sports more books and magical-themed games...

As I watch the thousands of demonstrators protesting the ban on gay marriage in California, I can’t help but wonder: What would Dumbledore think? Assuming of course that Dumbledore is real, and, alive, I know he’d probably be thinking any number of things. But as our resident Champion of Love, I know Dumbledore would NOT support a ban on gay marriage. Most of the signs being held up by the protesters say it plainly: Make LOVE, not H8. And then, of course, there’s the other side. There’s...

Something I feel worth mentioning is creative writing classes. I took my first creative writing class this quarter and I really enjoyed it and felt that I took a lot of important things away from the class. Today I was listening to a live blogtalkradio chat with several very accomplished urban fantasy authors. There was one point in their discussion where they addressed writing classes and, having just finished up my first writing class, it piqued my interest. I think...
