IRONSOS, does this mean you won’t be disappearing for a few days, as long as this new one shows up before the old one dies? Or are you going to have to go offline completely to transition to the new one?

By the way, IRONSOS, I’ve always meant to ask this and for some reason I never have. If we were to say your screen name out loud is it like “Iron a shirt + SOS” or “I” “RON” “SOS”? This is the sort of thing I think about when I am awake at night and not worrying about something else.

FELIPE, I won’t repeat everything JEN and LEMON said about the dinner other than they did say they had dinner seating for everyone now. Please come.

MM, Please, Oh Please!!!! come for whatever time you can. The park is going to be at 10 PM to 1:30 AM so there will be no standing around in the sun.

BY THE WAY…I HAVE NEVER CANCELLED MY RESERVATIONS AT THE CROWNE PLAZA which is one of the conference hotels. I need to do so but I wonder if I could transfer my reservations to someone else?

I have to change my name and my daugher’s name on our registration.

I registered with my commonly used first and last name but it says it has to match your ID. My driver’s license has my first name, part of my middle name and my maiden name hyphenated with my married name. So, not even my driver’s license has my full legal name on it. I guess I’ll have them change my registration to what is on my driver’s license.

I registered my daughter with her middle name she uses and our last name. So, now I need to have her registration name changed to her first, middle and last name.

I’m going to try for another full face photo of her. I just took the other one a few days ago to make sure there was a full face photo on the registration page but I’m not thrilled with it. We have until the 15th to change them again.

LEMON, couldn’t you just zoom the photo you have and just frame it on your face? I bet your DS could do that instead of going to all the trouble to take another one. Your face is not in costume. Heck, I’ve seen that photo. Your neck and shoulders are not in costume either.

The daughter is having the first of her three days of State Testing. The school makes this into a long intense and tense week. Friday they have a field trip to a bowling alley. My daughter wants me to go but if I do I am not bowling. The last time I was in the place three years ago my DS and I barely crawled out, my with my back pulled out and him with a snapped hamstring. So, I don’t know what the point is in me attending except to check her out early. They are going in a morning group and an afternoon group. So, if she is in the afternoon group there is no point at all.

Hello Everyone

I did post that I wouldn’t be on for a few days but I guess it disappeared. I am in MO visiting my other daughter for a few weeks. I finally got around to loading the program so that I could use her air card to get online. I brought my laptop with me because she said I would be able to use her air card. This is much better than having to use her computer.

I had a great Mother’s day. Jennifer surprised me by coming in for the weekend. Bridgette is in heat again and she wants to breed with my Harley dog. This will be the last time they let Bridgette have puppies so it was important that they be Harley’s puppies. Things didn’t happen between them over the weekend so I came back home with her so Harley would be with Bridgette when she was ready.

The bad news is my phone has no signal here. We have to go into the next town before I get a signal. So I will not be calling anyone for awhile. It’s a good thing I can get online so I can at least send emails.

Lady Hawke I am pretty sure that Ironsos pronounces it like the metal iron or as in ironman, but with his “sos” from his last name thacked on.

We will be in your neck of the woods the second and third week of August. ;)

Dental appointment this afternoon so this will probably be my only check in until tonight, or tomorrow. ;)

COOLG, I’m glad to hear from you. I guess I missed that you were going to MO. Can you get an aircard for yourself so you can use your laptop in a comfortable place?

DEANIE, I went looking at my calendar, thinking I had written in your visit and couldn’t find it. Now I know what happened. I remembered you were coming in some relation to the beginning or end of the school year so I was thinking it was soon. Instead you are coming as the school year starts. I suspect you are literally penciled in on my August calendar.

Good evening!

My DS is having a bit of an eventful week. After on and off toothache in one of his Wisdom teeth for a couple of months, for which the dentist could see no apparant reason, the pain was so bad at the weekend he made himself an emergency appointment yesterday. On X raying his tooth, they found that while it looked fine, there was a big area of decay under the gum. So, they took it out there and then. He spent last night bleeding periodically and feeling a bit nauseous.

Today, I get one of THOSE phone calls……….. “Please don’t panic, but I’m in A and E………..” He was working on a faulty photocopier, and got a pretty huge electric shock. He didn’t lose consciousness, but was thrown across the room. Fortunately the machine was in a college, so there were plenty of First Aiders to look after him. It took some time, but his colleagues eventually persuaded him to go to hospital. He was surprised and a bit alarmed when they didn’t make him wait at A and E all, but took him straight in, ahead of everyone else. They wired him up to a heart moniter, but eventually let him go, with instructions to dial 999 if he even thinks he’s having chest pains. Gulp.

The poor man came home with all the sticky pads still stuck to his body, and son has been teasing him unmercifully because the hospital had to shave some of his chest hair……..

I’m hoping he has a quieter day tomorrow.

CoolG it is good to see you, and to know that you’re ok.

Ironsos, my failsafe “fix it” technique is to turn whatever it is off and on again. If that fails, then I start thumping it. I’m glad you’ve solved your computer problem so quickly. I miss you when you go quiet!

ASTI, O.o, WOW! What a scary, scary, day. I can’t believe it threw him across the room and he didn’t break something. I’m so glad he tested out okay with the heart monitor. The tooth is not good news either but it fades in comparison to being thrown across the room by electricity. Has he gone off to bed yet? Is he meant to work tomorrow or can he stay at home and see how he feels?

I done laundry all day today and I’ve cooked a load of cauliflower I had picked up and needed attention.

I’ve emailed the name changes for LeakyCon back to the help desk person.

My daughter and I are heading to Celtic Woman tonight so I’ve prepared a big dinner salad and a plate of veggies for my DS. He intends to come home and work in his veggie garden so he can eat whenever he is ready.

I’ve already dressed for tonight and I have a selection of dresses ready for my daughter to wear. I’m not sure what she is planning to wear tonight.

I think we might run and get pizza on the way downtown. Either that or I’m running to Kroger to get something at the deli or in the freezer section I don’t have to cook. I didn’t have enough salad ingredients for me, just my DS. Now, I don’t want to have to come up with anything else.

It was a fight but I finally got the laptop to boot up.

Lady Hawke: iron/sos is correct.

New laptop has been shipped. Expect it to arrive thurs/fri. The set up will only take a couple hours so
should be no delay.

Asti: The turn on/off technique is actually the best way to do it.
The above sentence does not sound right for some reason?

Afternoon all!

MM, I really hope you’ll decide to come to LeakyCon! Like Lemon said, it’s tough to answer what days would be best for day passes. I’m sure there will be great stuff going on no matter what days you decide to go. Here’s the tentative schedule Lemon mentioned: But it’s tough to even try to make a decision based on that, since the day passes don’t include special events, the welcoming or leaving activities, or the ball, and the regular programming hasn’t been announced yet. They’ve said in the past, though, that if a special event doesn’t sell out, they may open tickets to day pass holders. And they did just post a quick message this morning to say that the StarKid event was being moved to Saturday and that they will likely open to day pass holders soon…so Saturday might be a good day to consider. :)

Lemon, I think your author pic will be fine. If it’s cropped so it looks like the little square that shows up with FB posts, no one will even be able to tell you’re in costume. I think they probably put that just to prevent pictures with masks or heavy makeup or even costume-y wigs. You can definitely tell it’s you in that pic.

I have apparently been pronouncing ironsos’s name incorrectly in my head…I always pictured it as i – ron – sos, with the stress on the second syllable. :)

LH, I hope your daughter’s testing went well today. Have fun tonight!

Yikes, asti, that is scary! I’m glad your husband is okay!

Evening all! I have done a bit of gardening and some laundry but I needed to use the vacuum cleaner, but thinking about it was as far as I got.

Ironsos I also pronounced your name the same way as BWJen, lol.

Asti Your poor DS! Please give him a hug from me as a small compensation for his outburst of trauma. My tee shirt arrived today and I love it. I think BigD will approve. I should receive Ursula, under this week. The garden is looking much better following the rain we have had.

Lady Hawke Do I take it that your daughter’s symptoms did not turn out to be anything dreadful?

CoolG Great to hear from you. Have fun staying with your other daughter for a bit.

I do find it difficult to adjust when the weather patterns arrive in an unaccustomed order. I can bear rain, wind, hail and constant showers in March and April knowing that the crops are getting the benefit of a good start to the growing season, when April behaves like May, and May has April weather I am inclined to feel grumpy. On the plus side, however, I don’t think we would have achieved as much in the garden.

Time for bed.

Hi, everyone!

Oh, my goodness, Asti! That’s horrible, your poor DS! I hope he’s feeling okay. What an experience, all around. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you both!

LOL on my author pic, LH! No, my neck and shoulders are not in costume, either! LOLOLOL I do think it will be okay, but it gives me something to worry about, as if I need something else. ;) I hope you and Jen are correct. I asked on the FB page, too, under someone else, and they answered that person (who had sunglasses on in their pic) but not me.

Have fun at Celtic Woman, LH, I love listening to them.

CoolG I’m glad you had a good Mother’s Day and are enjoying your visit at your daughter’s. :)

I haven’t gotten any exercise in yet today and it’s 11:30 PM. My heels are absolutely killing me, and now my bad knee is acting up as well. I don’t know what to do. I tried to power through the walk last night and only got 1 1/2 miles. I’m afraid I have re-aggravated the plantar fasciitis, and I do NOT have time to mess with that. I may shift my exercise focus to just the bike for a few days and see if it heals up, but I have to get back to walking quickly. I’ve ordered some new orthotics and downloaded a few exercises to help stretch it out. Hopefully that’s enough.

Hope you all have a great night!

Aloha! ;)

Just running through while justifying my jobs existance. ;)

Asti That is a very frightening two days! My DS once was thrown a good 10 feet by the central air conditioner and it melted part of the blade of the screwdriver he was holding. He was about 36 and refused to go to the emergency room.

My wisdom teeth played that game, too. Except mine had never come in. They were tucked in the gum and I lost both the lower wisdom tooth and the tooth beside it. First on the left side and 18 months later on the right side. So I lost two active teeth and two impacted wisdom teeth and each time there was a pocket of infection inside the gum. It ain’t fun! The first one was less than a week before the annual family reunion. ;)

LemonFaerie Take care of yourself and make haste a bit more slowly so you don’t do real damage to yourself. ;)

My daughter and I had a great time at Celtic Woman last night. There were standing ovations throughout the performance and we were popping up and down constantly. The show did not let out until 10 PM and we had to find our way home without going our normal route which was literally part of the Mississippi River. So, where it would normally have taken about 15 to 20 minutes to have arrived home if I had been able to turn out of the theatre and taken Riverside Dr. directly to the expressway I had to find another interstate access, resulting in a trip home which lasted over half an hour. The river has invaded the downtown street at the foot of the hill on the street where the theatre sits.

It was a difficult morning here, trying to get everyone in gear. My daughter stayed in bed until the last possible moment and just put on clothes and walked our the door.

We trial ran some makeup for her last night, an experimentation in what a full face of makeup does to her appearance. We used some eyeliner pencil last night and Oh My Goodness!!!… I have to go and get an eyeliner pencil for myself. I use mascara but have dropped off wearing eyeliner. That is a bit mistake. My daughter and I have the same eyes but I have blond lashes and she has black ones which makes her look as if she is wearing mascara all the time but the liner made her eyes pop dramatically. I sat in the theatre and watched her, realizing how close I was to seeing what she would look like as a grown woman. I can’t let her get away with looking more sophisticated than me again. So, the next time we go out I am going to have to have eye liner too.

Felipe you reminded me of a favorite part of the movie “Meet Me in St. Louis”. Judy Garland’s character Esther says, “Money! I hate, loathe, abominate and despise money!” To which Leon Ames as her father replies, “You also spend it.” ;)

Morning All

I almost left without posting again. Probably because I don’t have anything to say. I must start taking notes again.

Asti That was very scary about your DS. Good thing he was ok.

Lady Hawke I think about you every time I see Memphis on the news which is every day because of the flooding. Now they are saying the increase in gas is because of the Memphis Flooding. Strange but I think gas was going up before the flooding in Memphis.

Ironsos Funny I know your name is Iron/S0S but I can’t pronounce that easily so I always say Ironside in my mind. You know the dedective on TV played by Raymond Burr. Have you got your new laptop working yet?

Afternoon all!

Going to be leaving shortly to pick up my nephew from school, and I think I’ll surprise him with a trip to Chuck E Cheese (a kid’s arcade). I’ve had tokens from when we last went (probably over a year ago), but since I’ve usually been babysitting on Saturdays lately, I’ve avoided going because it’s always mobbed on weekend. When my sister asked if I could do today so she could pick up an extra shift, I figured this would be a good opportunity; he’ll be quite excited – he asks about it all the time, remembering that I’ve still got the tokens. :)

MM and Felipe, I haven’t seen an official announcement yet, but LeakyCon did answer a FB question to say that they’ve opened the ball to day pass holders for $10. So, it’s looking like Saturday will be a great day to come if you’re doing a day pass, especially if they do end up opening the StarKid tickets to day passers as well. :D And Lemon, did you see the post from the girl asking if her pic was okay? She’s in what could be considered costume-ish clothing (or, at least an HP tie and the glasses look like Harry’s) and LeakyCon replied that it was great. So that makes me even more certain that yours will be acceptable…you aren’t even wearing glasses that could be considered to obstruct your face!

Evening all! I have been heavily side-tracked today by the arrival of Ursula under, a very unusual book full of unexpected detail of life long ago and far away from its initial setting in 2003 in the US. I have to report that the description of this secondhand book as “very good” with regard to its condition does not impress me with its accuracy. Fortunately it cost very little, but my lip curls slightly every time I pick it up.

I have a doctor’s visit tomorrow to discuss Simvastatin and blood pressure.

The Mississippi River crested here the during the night in the early morning hours of Tuesday morning. So when we went downtown to see Celtic Woman last night we were seeing it on the first evening of the full crest. I do not believe anyone I know will be affected at all. The residential area of town that is flooding is about as far from me as one can get.

There are people losing their homes, loosing their trailers. It is tragic but not altogether unexpected. These homes and trailers were in flood plain. It is called flood plain for a reason. It has flooded in the past and is at risk to flood again. The big surprise were the beautiful places that flooded on Mud Island. That is a very desirable, exclusive area of upscale homes built out on an island in the river, the same one with the water park I have made pictures of. They thought the island was high enough not to flood. Most of it did okay but some area did take on water.

My father says he does remember the Flood of 1937, the one that was just larger than this one. At the time the levees were not what they are now and the city was not as well prepared. He says his aunt talked about seeing those who had lost their homes just lying on the banks of the river with nowhere to go.
