Awww, that shirt is so cute, Jen! I love my House Brawl one. :)

The I had the reflexology done at a local day spa. It’s the same place LP and I went for her Christmas spa gift. It’s a specific type of intense foot massage. I really love the woman who does the manicures/pedicures, and she also does the reflexology as part of a pedicure package. It’s an hour and 45 minutes of sheer heaven! For even more in-depth reflexology you’d see one of the massage therapists. I’m not a real fan of regular massage because I have a thing about people I don’t know touching me, LOL, but the feet and hands don’t bother me, other than the fact that I’m pretty ticklish. ;) I would not recommend this place for facials, though, LP and I both found those to be exercises in torture. We had a MUCH better experience at the place my mother took us to when we were visiting over Spring Break, much more the way they’re supposed to be – gentle and soothing, not torturous! But the gal who does the horrible facials at this place does an amazing eyebrow wax, so we’ll go back to her for that prior to the trip, LOL.

I think the girls are looking forward to the beauty treatments almost as much as the trip. I told them we’d all go get pedicures at my regular nail place (still pretty good and MUCH cheaper than the day spa), and the gel manicures that last so long. I had mine redone today after the foot deal, at the regular nail place. I chose a lighter pink than I usually get, usually I go for a shade of red, but it felt springy. I don’t care for it that much on, though. I think it’s too young a color for me, probably, my hands look even older by comparison. Oh, well! I’m stuck with it for at least 2 1/2 weeks now, since these manicures last forever (which is normally a good thing!) But now I know for sure to stick with my usual colors. :)

Aside from the mani/pedis, we’re also all getting our eyebrows done, and fresh hair cuts, plus color for me. We’ll be stylin’ in time for FL! Now if I can just get the DS to let me pluck his eyebrows… he’s SUCH a baby about it and he really needs it. I do LemonCharm’s all the time, and he is always teasing his dad about he’s more “manly” than dad and doesn’t whine and cry when I pull out the tweezers. :)

Only 56 more days!!!!! WAHOOOOOOOO!!!

Oh, and I also got a confirmation from Leaky that they’ve refunded the original park tickets I bought, so as soon as it clears my CC, I’ll order the four-day, two-park passes instead and we’ll be all set. Now we just have to wait for the movie tix and the keynotes and I think all the pre-trip event purchasing will be final! Yay!

What I use depends on which computer I’m on. Work just allowed us to download IE8, home desktop and netbook have IE9, Notebook has IE8. All but the netbook have XP, netbook has Windows 7 and the computer dedicated to the badge printer at work (which I use extensively during renewals) has Vista and no internet. ;)

Ya think I get a bit confused? ;)

I just checked here and under the “help” menu it says I have IE7, but I am pretty sure I accidentally downloaded the latest version. Where do I find out? ;)

IE8 is the highest you can go with the XP o.s. IE9 will only work with Vista & Win7…

Ugh…I was just woken up by my house phone ringing. I didn’t answer, figuring it must be a wrong number because it was a Private Caller and family/friends trying to reach me in a late-night emergency would have called the cell. But the caller left a message, and it turned out to be the police dept telling me that someone had smashed up my mailbox. The cop said the guy was in custody and asked me to come outside for a minute. I called my dad, and he said he had just heard noises outside and had seen a guy yelling while kicking something metal across the street and saw the cops load him into the car. So he came down with me, and the cop just wanted to let me know what had happened and reassure me that the guy was heading off to jail. (But for the moment, he was sitting in the back of the car, still yelling and raving like a loon.) Apparently, he had been making his way down the street smashing things up, including stuff at a car dealership and a large window at a building two up from mine. That’s where the cop was parked because there were huge shards of glass. It’s an unoccupied building, and of course they couldn’t get a hold of anyone at the real estate agency at this time, so I don’t know what they’re going to do with that. I guess it’s a good thing it was just my mailbox here and not a window! My father pointed out that this is an argument in favor of moving in with him to get out of the city. Now I’m trying to wind back down from the adrenaline spike so I can get back to sleep. I figured I would check in here and relay my tale. I’m on my phone and only semi-conscious, so forgive whatever typos there may be!

Hi JEN. That is a terribly rude way to wake up. Why did they feel you had to come down to the street? Why didn’t they just wait for a reasonable hour and call you and leave a messsage?

That makes two of us who are here groggy. I’m here because when I got home last night and ate dinner I was so tired I just went to bed. I just woke up and realized I never put my DS’s pants and shirts in the dryer. He has nothing to wear tomorrow. So, I stumbled up to put one shirt and one pair of pants in the dryer. I don’t usually do that, dry them together but I’m desperate.

Also, JEN, I was too tired to catch up properly last night, much less post but that is a very brave thing your mother is trying to do. I know your aunt is her sister but it can’t be fun contemplating being a donor. Isn’t it worse than being a recipient?

PLEASE let those pants and shirt dry quickly. I can’t believe I was so tired I went to bed without doing them.

Hi LH! I have no idea why they felt it necessary to have me come down…to show me my smashed up mailbox and ask if I wanted it back? Definitely pointless! If my dad hadn’t been here, I certainly wouldn’t have gone. Sorry you have to be up too; I hope your dryer finishes soon! I’m going to attempt to lay back down now. I can already hear birds chirping. I didn’t realize they come out this early!

I’ve noticed my time signature is about 15 minutes off. I posted last night at 1:59 AM and the time stamp said 3:14 AM. Even taking into account the difference of an hour for Central Time and Eastern Time there is still a 15 minute discrepancy.

I am still tired and I could have slept longer if I had not had to get up to make my daughter go to school. I think I don’t feel as bad as I did yesterday. I hope that remains the case. It is sunny and meant to be a bit warmer today so I know my destiny holds more paint.

It was 55 degrees for most of the day yesterday. It did finally warm to about 68 degrees after 3 PM. I can’t believe this is the last week of school for the summer and we have had a day that remained in the middle 50s all day. The average high this time of year is about 80 degrees and it is not unusual to have some days that are warmer. It was in the 90s one day last week.

Mother called as I was taking my daughter to school. The doctor has been in and says my father is being discharged today. He has not walked yet. The doctor said he would walk before he went home. Maybe they are assuming since he managed to walk when he was so sick Thursday night that he will be able to walk now the infection is gone and now that his blood pressure is under control again on Tuesday. I hope he can walk. If he can’t walk we will be up the creek without a paddle. The doctor says he is sending physical therapy to the house but how does that get him to the bathroom in the meantime if he can’t do it for himself?

Reflexology is used by some people to treat problems in other parts of the body. The foot is mapped to organs and systems in the body so if you are having problems with your stomach there is a place where they will rub your feet to make your stomach better. It similar to that whole acupuncture culture and mindset as alternative treatments to traditional western medicine.

Watch out! A vent is coming! :-P

Yesterday was an insanely exhausting day at the office. It was Monday first of all… and it was our pay day, which is already a lot of work on its own with payroll, billing Medicaid, making sure people have turned in all their paperwork, etc… but then we also have the added pressure of being in the middle of preparations for our yearly quality review (and let’s not forget the everyday things that come up at the office, calls, interruptions…). I’m glad yesterday is gone, but I still have a few more days of craziness until next Monday when we have the inspection at the office. We are on track, but we have to be on people’s butts so they turn in any missing paperwork, surveys, etc. It’s annoying to be doing this to the last moment, but we’ve been having such a super busy, up-and-down year so far… We’ve had employees quitting, new clients coming and some going, changes to the Medicaid programs we work under, insane pay cuts implemented and later overturned , and just a lot of changes and things coming up, usually all at a same, very inconvenient time. We dealt/are dealing with it well, but it is stressful.
Anyways, I try to stay as positive and be as patient as possible. I try to keep in mind that sometimes things are out of my control and I just need to deal with them as best as I can and not stress so much. Sometimes it’s pointless to worry… better to get occupied, not preoccupied, right? :-)

Moving on :-)

LH I’m so glad to hear your dad is more stable and improving, even a bit at a time! :-) Hope he makes a full recovery very soon!

Jen that sucks! Sure, the cops were doing their job, I guess, but they could have left a note with their business card on your door so you could give them a call at a decent hour. Good thing that no major damage was done to your property.

PS: I got my ticket to A Very Starkid Event! I’m getting more and more excited about LeakyCon! :-D

PPS: I’ve opened a Twitter account which I intend to use mostly for LeakyCon. I put the link up on the Facebook group page. I’m already following several of you, but let me know if I’m missing anyone. And follow me! :-)

Oh! I forgot to mention, ironsos I’m glad the laptop finally came! I’ve personally hated whenever I had to make a switch in my Windows operating system, or when switching to a new version of Office or even Internet Explorer. The annoying part is the getting used to it, with things being in different places or displayed differently, but after a while I just get used to it. My laptop has Windows Vista and IE8, so it’s what I’m most used to. But at work I have Windows 7 and IE9 and they’re not bad.

I think Netorama had an article on these a couple of weeks ago. With lots of pictures. Some of them even have straps to tie them to the calf of the wearer. I seem to think it might have been a video of some sort and not a photo essay – I don’t really remember, but I remember the boots! ;)

Actually, wasn’t there a time – way back in the dark or middle ages – when similar shoes were in fashion? As they say, there really is nothing new under the sun. At least not when it comes to “fashion”. All those boots need are bells on the toes. ;)

My father has been discharged and we are flying about picking up prescriptions and some medical equipment they used at the hospital yhat he liked. We grabbed my daughter and lunch at a drive through. Otherwise I would need to be in line to pick her up instead of where I am. We will stop at the grocery to pick up a couple of things my mother needs on the way home and then I will need to rearrange and add to my father’s medication boxes.

Good evening!

I have had a very busy, but very GOOD few days.
I’m also trying to co ordinate my sister and BIL, (who have a social life even busier than my daughter,) AND my parents for weekend get together for my birthday. Quite why I’m the one to try and organise my own 40th birthday celebrations, I’m not too sure, but never mind! I’ve also got in touch with my best friend from school, who I meet up with periodically, and she and her DS can come and see us too for an evening!
I’m also making huge progress on my latest piano piece. It’s all coming together really nicely, and sounding lovely. I am addicted to my piano. Unfortunately, it needs “tweaking.” The tuner did say that it would slip back quickly. It hadn’t been tuned in 20 years, and, in his words, “it had a bit of a shock.” He’s due to visit again next month, I can wait ‘til then, but keys are starting to stick, and echo, and it’s distracting!
I’ve also worked out that my control of the pedals is a LOT more effective if I’m not wearing fluffy slippers. Piano practise is now performed in shoes!

Ironsos, I hope you and the new laptop become friends very soon!

Felipe, I’m so glad you’re going to be involved in the meet up! I also sympathise with the work rant. It is one thing knowing you shouldn’t let it stress you, but another to keep on top of it all and stay calm. Good luck, and it’ll be Friday soon!

Lady Hawke, I hate waking up in the middle of the night, remembering with that moment of panic something I have forgotten to do. I hope you’re not too tired today. I also hope your Dad feels a lot better just by being at home, and back in his own bed. How is your Mum, after the last few days? And are you all still suffering form the paint fumes? Have you got face masks you can wear?

Graymayne, I finished The Hare over the weekend. I thought it was tremendous. I had tears in my eyes at several points. It’s a beautiful book.

Jen, it does seem a little heavy handed of the police to get you up at the crack of dawn! At least you knew what had happened. Have you started your summer pleasure reading yet?
That is a huge thing your Mum is offering for your Aunt. I really hope that things work out well.

Lemon, it sounds like you and your family are going to be very glamourous and beautiful for the HP trip! And HUGE congratulations for having a pile of clothes that are too big!

CoolG, I didn’t know there was a Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum! I’d love to go. Is it really her home, or a re creation? I’d love to hear more about it, if you wouldn’t mind telling?

xxxx and hugs for everyone!

This may be in the category of too much information but this is what my father has me out purchasing for him. The horrible part is I had to know the size…did NOT want to know the size. My DS thinks this is a great idea for traveling etc. They are selling these devices on the internet for men who do cross country driving, who attend sporting events, or go out drinking with their buddies. Women should avoid letting their men near these things except for medical reasons. We would never get to stop at a gas station again.

I purchased this at a medical supply house for my father but I’ve ordered a large supply online. You can get prescriptions for them.
