Hello Margo, Deanie and Mistic Willow. I hope you all are enjoying the season you are in. Here, it’s hot. We skipped spring altogether and jumped straight into summer. It’s around 100 degrees everyday. Swamp cooler is up and have iced tea at the ready though, so it’s all good. The whole family is doing well. Twin1 sends her best wishes. I’ll wrangle her over here soon. I’m glad I found my way back here, too. Being at Leaky and speaking with all of you seems to always make things better. Work has been crazy and my son has turned 14. I wasn’t ready for that. Where does the time go? Can’t wait for DH. Seeing preview has made the longing that much more painful waiting for Nov.

I’ll be lurking today in and out. Have a great day guys. Talk to you soon. =)

Hi Twin2. Good to see you. We jumped straight into scorching this year, almost 10 degrees above average for the last three weeks. Now we are approaching July and once we hit July we can expect the kind of temperatures we’ve already been surviving.

I’ve been out all morning and althought it is much cooler than it has been it is still over 90 degrees.

Tomorrow should be a real treat. The temperature is only supposed to be 86. I have agreed to go with a friend to the doctor. She is seeing an otolaryngologist and a speech therapist and since I have background in those fields she wanted me to go with her. Now I sort of wish that wasn’t happening. Since the temperature is going to be so much nicer it would have been an opportunity for an outdoor activity with my daughter, assuming she feels better by then. Oh well, hopefully there will be some more cooler days.

I left my daughter with my parents this morning. The doctor said it would be okay. This morning she did not have any fever but last summer when we had H1N1 we didn’t have fevers in the morning, just the afternoon and evening. I’ll have to check her when we get home.

I’ve been thinking about the trailer. I think they just showed the things they thought the non-reading public would find exciting which is mostly the spell casting and exploding of buildings and fiend fires, etc. The trailer would not have been very interesting to the movie only people if there had been too much talk about Grindlewald and Dumbledore or Bill and Fleur’s wedding or the reading of Dumbledore’s will and The Tales of Beedle the Bard or Polyjuice Potioning themselves to invade the ministry for an object the movie only people barely knows it exists. All that is too complicated for a trailer for people who won’t understand it until it is spelled out for them. So, they went for the obvious, the running and screaming and flashing spells from the wands, the fires, explosions and the threats against Harry and attack by Voldemort. We saw the Avada Kedavra in the forest. We saw Harry lying on his back in a suit. I presume that is after Godric’s Hollow when Hermione takes them out of there and breaks Harry’s wand in the process. We see Harry and everyone else in almost constant distress. That is what is exciting to the non book readers so that is what we have in the trailer. We know from the cast list there are people we never saw in the trailer. I’m not panicking yet,

I sort of assumed they would make more of the final confrontation than JKR did. She let Harry become a young Dumbledore, call Voldemort “Tom” and sort of Dumbledump on Voldemort and let him choose to inadvertently kill himself in one shot because of his own poor judgement and destroyed soul. I pretty much expected them to make a bigger battle of it and a bigger show. That is what the movie going public wants, a big final confrontation in which Harry kills Voldemort outright through force. It isn’t what happened or what we want but it is more bankable. I still have hopes that Neville will be a hero and take Nagini out.

Lady Hawke I agree with you. I think that the trailer is very much a sight to behold to draw in those persons (whoever they may be) that has not read the books. I am hopeful that this movie will meet all of my expectations. I have learned over the years to separate the books and the movies and enjoy the movie versions for its own merit. I agree with you about Neville, he is a hero and I hope they left that in the movie.

Good Morning Everybody!!! A Happy Wednesday to ALL!!! Yes I must say even though the trailer is very exciting, I seen some things that the books definately did not mention, like the part where Voldemort has his hands around Harry’s throat/neck, I don’t think Harry would have let Voldemort get that close to him, and he would not have been standing in this scene if he was pretending to be dead, so that scene has me really curious to know where this is comming from. I too hope it happens just like the book, and that Neville will take Nagini out, as it is written. The snake part, also I am not getting in the woods, unless it appears from the locket when it tries to talk Ron into not destroying it!!! otherwise Nagini appears at Godric Hollow and is inside Bertha Bagshot, and only Hermione and Harry are suppose to be there.l!!! Hmm!!! They have said that Deathly Hallows is suppose to be MORE CLOSER TO THE BOOK VERSION!!! I for one hope this is true!!!!

Jen, a friend reminded me that 9 TO 5 was already on Broadway a couple of years ago. So, I don’t know why Dolly Parton is going to be in Memphis tweaking the show but that is what is going to happen.

HEADMISTRESS LEMONFAERIE has expressed her concern about the obvious Priori Incantatum taking place between wands that do not share the same core. Well, they never did explain to the movie audience in GoF what Priori Incantatum was. Harry just said something strange happened with the wands and Dumbledore says, “Priori Incantatum” so for all the movie audience knows it is just something happens any time Voldemort and Harry face off. It isn’t right. It is annoying but since the movie audience was never let in on the details they can just use the same neat looking effect one more time.

Hi, Twin2! I am back, too.
Deanie, I hope your day gets more interesting and not in a “may you live in interesting times” sort of way.
Mistic is now the wrong time to say that last HP movie I saw was Prisioner of Azkaban in the theatre in German?
Lady Hawke, I hope your DDaughter’s fever doesn’t return.

Summer has finally arrived, which is one reason I haven’t posted for a few days. It has hit 26 degrees (80 F) by noon each day this week.

Germany plays in the muggle World Cup on Saturday, and my family needs to figure out how we are going to see the match. Going to a Biergarten with a playground would be ideal, but they will all be packed. If we stay home, the kids will want to play outside so we won’t be able to see the TV. Decisions, decisions.

I still havn’t seen the trailer! I have the house to myself tomorrow, and I’m going to indulge in watching it a LOT, without any comments about HPS from my loving family, lol!

Hermine, my DS and son have just about got over the debacle of a performance from the England football team on Sunday. Despite The Goal That Was Disallowed, I think you’d have won anyway. Englands defenders were ummmmm…. not very good at all! I hope you find somewhere to watch and enjoy it, and I’ll even say good luck! (Through gritted teeth, lol!)

Aloha! ;)

The deck in which I park is about half empty. The State offices will be closed tomorrow for our Independence Day holiday. Federal and most other businesses that get a holiday for it will be closed on Monday. Obviously, whoever scheduled the holidays for the State did not bother to look at a commercially available calendar.

Perhaps they had already planned their vacation and wanted the one day when they would not have to use a day of annual leave.

Whatever the reason, I will be off tomorrow. Which beats cancelling it altogether because the actual day falls on a Sunday! ;)

Off to check in elsewhere. ;)

Good Morning Everybody!!!! A Happy Thursday to Everybody!!! WOW I have loved the weather here for yesterday and today!! about 80 degrees, and the Sun is shinning brightly!!! when we have 90’s here the humidity always takes over the temps!! and it gets so muggy!!! and icky-sticky!!! When I am at home, I am 5 blocks from the Chesapeake Bay, and most of the time there is always a nice breeze off of the Bay, but when we have thunderstorms, it gets rough!! and loud!! because of living so close to the Chesapeake Bay!!! I plan to take Stanley down to the boardwalk on the 3rd of July, this is when the famous Rod & Reel Restaurant which has a dock that goes way out on the bay shoots off the 4th of July fireworks!!! It does last about an hour, and you can see them very well from anywhere along the Boardwalk. I plan on cliping that new device from Off on my jean pocket, and if it works like it says it does on the TV set, then both Stanley and myself will be protected well from MOSQUITO’S THEY HAVE THEM ON SALE AT THE HOME DEPOT FOR $6.88. BELIEVE ME THE MOSQUITO’S HERE COULD CARRY YOU AWAY!!!! (this is NO joke), especially when it gets really hot out!!! Well I will be prepared this year, with my folding camp canvas chair, and my MOSQUITO Repellent device!!! I will be able to say CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!! lol Well on second thought I am sure I will not be able to take my bath tub down there!!! and I don’t think at 9 pounds and 5 ounces that Stanley will be able to tote it on his back!!! LOL I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!

Sounds fun MISTIC. That sounds great to be so close to all the holiday activity.

JEN, where are you? We’ve heard from MISTIC. Now where are you?

If my daughter feels like it we may go to Mud Island Water Park today while it is nice. It is only meant to hit 90 today, but it is going to go back up toward 100 next week. If we are going to have an outdoor activity without passing out from heat stroke this may be the day to do it.

Whoa, perfect timing, LH – I just came over to say hello, and there’s my name in your post! :)

I was completely exhausted when I got home Tuesday, and yesterday was very busy here at work, as I had expected (We’re forecast to have absolutely gorgeous weather through the holiday, so it’s looking like the bakery is going to have its highest ever roll sales.) then I babysat last night. So today I’m finally going through and catching up everywhere. I haven’t done that here yet; I wanted to say hi first…and also that I’m extremely happy to see that there are so many posts to catch up on. And was that a Twin I spotted as I scrolled down? How awesome would it be if we started getting back some of our old regulars by getting back to posting over here? :)

Good morning, Leaky! Not much going on in my neck of the woods – I need to figure out what to do for the day. No big 4th of July plans, but I hope everyone else has lots of fun, food, family, and friends planned! I leave for my big river trip on Tuesday, so I’m getting really excited for that!! I have my last bit of training tonight (I thought I was done, damn!) – I have to go through a special delegation from a nurse so I can give kids medication. We’ve never had to do this before, but our licensing has changed. Booo-urns!

Off to stare at everything I need to do!

The new Castle is down for maintenance or at least that is the message I am receiving.

I’ve went in and sat down on my daughter’s bed and looked at her. That would wake me up if someone did that. If we are going out to do something I would really like to go while it is still cooler.

I was poking around in my closet and found my ballroom dancing shoes. I thought they were in there somewhere. I pulled my closet apart yesterday looking for them and didn’t find them. This morning I was searching for something else I didn’t find and found the shoes instead. My closet is not in a mess so I don’t know what was so hard about finding one pair of shoes.

I was looking for my shoes because I have located a ballroom dancing school here in MS fairly close to my house. In the past I would have had to drive into East Memphis to find ballroom dancing. So, I was thinking of taking my daughter to a group class last night if she felt like it. She was okay but not full of energy yesterday and since I couldn’t find my shoes anyway I decided to let it slide another week. She did get into my ballroom dance dresses that are still at my parent’s house. I think the dresses could be a motivating force; exercise that makes beautiful dresses a necessity is comparitively appealing. I have the shoes on and I’m walking around the house in them. They seem to fit okay and would be comfortable enough to dance in. I was worried about it since so many of my pre-baby shoes don’t fit or feel comfortable enough to wear. Dance shoes have to be comfortable or they are intolerable. They are still in pretty good shape even though they are almost 17 years old. You never wear your dance shoes out of the ballroom. They only ever touch interior floors so these shoes have never been on a sidewalk or on pavement in a parking lot. When you go dancing you wear another pair of shoes between the car and the ballroom and change before you start dancing and change again before you leave. So, you wear your beautiful street shoes in route and change to your less beautiful, functional dance shoes for the actual dancing. Mine are black kid T-straps with a 1 1/2 inch heel. It isn’t a tiny heel but it isn’t a chunky one either. I have a heel surface larger than a dime but smaller than a nickle.

I think the child may be awake.

My catching up comments from page 9:

My train to D.C. was about a half hour late getting into Philly, though I’m not sure what caused that. But then we were stuck at the station there for about an hour because of a “signalling problem.” Apparently such delays are extremely common – while we were sitting there, I heard someone say she’s never been on a train that wasn’t delayed, and several others telling stories of their various delay issues. And while at the conference, I overheard a guy telling the group he was with that he had arrived to D.C. 3 hours late on Thursday due to a signalling problem in Philly…so it would appear that whatever the issue was, it wasn’t properly fixed since the same thing happened to me the next day. Of course, I then told my dad he should just go to the movie that was getting out 40 min after I was due back home, figuring that we’d be late getting in, but that return train was only 15 min late…I had plenty of reading material, though, so I didn’t mind waiting to be picked up. :)

Thanks for the info on CHICAGO, LH! I don’t think that tour came through here – at least it definitely didn’t over the past two seasons, when I’ve had subscriptions. Maybe it only did Boston. I don’t tend to go up there unless it’s a favorite show that I want to see over and over again – like Wicked, which is returning in October, woo hoo! Otherwise I stick with my Providence theatre. Anyway…I’ve never had a burning desire to see Chicago, though I enjoyed the movie well enough. If it had come as part of the subscription I would have seen it, but probably wouldn’t buy a separate ticket for it. I guess it won’t matter now, if the tour has ended!

I wasn’t particularly impressed with the MEMPHIS performances on the Tony’s either, but it should be exciting to have the tour open there, especially if you’re privy to some of the behind-the-scenes stuff. We’ve had 3 or 4 shows open here in the last couple of years, and the city made a really big deal of it each time. They usually do arrive about a month before, but I never realized it was because they were actually building the set right here. That’s pretty cool! I thought they were just finishing up rehersals.

9 to 5 was actually on Broadway last year. It was nominated for a few Tony’s, but I don’t think it lasted very long. I know one of the women who has played Elphaba on the Wicked tours was in it, as well as a woman who has played Galinda. Also, one of the original Broadway cast members of Legally Blonde was in it. I’m surprised they’re doing a tour of it since it didn’t do that well on Broadway, but maybe that’s why Dolly Parton is tweaking it, in hopes of improving whatever needed work. You’ll have to let me know what you think so I’ll be prepared if it comes here.

How much fun would it be to see a show together? If/when we ever meet up, we should definitely plan for that!

Hi Twin2! It’s so good to see you over here again! I hope your big changes at work are all good ones! :)

Okay, I’ll post this now so I can go run a few reports, then I’ll be back to read page 10!

The next thing up for us is CATS.
Then we have THE COLOR PURPLE again.
WICKED again, also in October like you. Ours is Oct. 13 – Oct. 31, Halloween. When is yours?
9 To 5

Most of these shows, with the exception of 9 To 5 that was so obscure I didn’t even realize it had already been on Broadway, did very well or were massive hits on Broadway. Unfortunately, I could live without seeing most of them. I will try to make sure my daughter does see WICKED somehow. It is just so darn expensive. You could see three shows for what you pay for a WICKED ticket but other than maybe BEAUTY AND THE BEAST I can’t see her being excited about any of it. Well, maybe SHREK. I just couldn’t care less about seeing those.

I am content with the movie version of DREAMGIRLS and while I remember the performances of THE COLOR PURPLE cast blew me away I didn’t really love the show and unless there is an equal cast to the one I saw last season I can live on that memory.

Obviously, I will go usher and I will step into the house to see the numbers I most enjoyed but I forsee a lot of sitting in the lobby and reading. Most of it is not worth standing without being able to lean on the wall.
