I haven’t read SEABISCUIT or seen the movie. It will have to be yet another addition to my enormous to-be-read list! ;)

Because you are lookig for it. ;)

It will show up in a very obvious place as soon as you stop loking or purchase a cheap paperback replacement. ;)

The inanimate like playing pranks on us. Except the electric or electronic, they hate us and their dependency on human made electricity. ;)

I’ve been having computer issues at work all day. Very frustrating! :(

Fortunately, I’m heading home in less than 15 minutes. :)

I can not believe Spain beat Germany in the World Cup!! I was watching yesterday and my jaw almost dropped to the floor. What an incredible result!! Was Germany drugged? This did not look like the same team that beat Argentina 4-0. They trumped Argentina’s butt and then go loose to Spain? What an incredible soccer result!!! :(

Now we have Spain and Holland going for the World Cup Title. I have to find my jaw…it is somewhere on the floor. Don’t step on it please!!

Morning all! Got a new computer at work, so I’m still getting used to some of the little differences. I probably won’t be around too much today because I’ve lost a lot of time while IT worked on my old computer before determining it was easier to just give me a new one!

Well that wasn’t so bad. It’s so quiet in here today that I’ve managed to get caught up very quickly, after being a few hour behind this morning. Of course, that means that I’m now back to the “I can’t believe it’s only 3” mindset. sigh Just an hour and a half to go.

Hello!

MM, I agree! After the way they played against England and Argentina, I was surprised by their performance against Spain. There has been a lot of talk about how young a team Germany are, and how much potential they have. It will be interesting to see them in the next World Cup. And the European Championship in 2 years time! Will they show that tournament in the US?

Jen, I’m glad the new computer hasn’t caused too many difficulties! I hope the next… hour and a quarter now, I think, goes quickly.

Hi Asti! So far so good with this computer. It has Windows 7 on it, so it’s a good chance to me to try it out to decide if I should upgrade my home one. Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Lol, Jen, my plans are co ordinating everyone else! DS and son have a golf comp tomorrow, daughter has her swimming lesson, (she just got her badge for being able to swim 25 metres!) and I need to take her to the library. Daughter also has a birthday party invite for Sunday, (at a Build a Bear Workshop, I want to go too!) and I have to fit in about 4 loads of washing!

How about you?!

Yikes, sounds like you’ll be busy! I’m babysitting tonight so my sister can go see Eclipse, and Sunday I’m going up to Boston for a meet-up and dinner with the HP-MA group. I’m not sure yet what we’ll be doing. The original plan had been to have the regular meeting at Borders, then walk to a restaurant, but now one of the girls has offered to host everyone at her house to order pizza and watch GoF & OotP on the ABC Family station that is showing the DH sneak peeks. I think that would be fun since I’ve never watched the movies with other “real” fans. (Well, not in person anyway – as much as I love our movies nights, I don’t type fast enough to comment on everything I’d like to to make it feel like a real conversation.)

In GoF, when the Weasley are expected to pick harry up, Dudley spends the whole timetrying to protect his backside.

How?

I weigh more than I should and I have weighed motre than I do now. If Dudley is indeed wider than he is tall, he cannot reach his backside with both hands at the same time. I know this from experience not even being that large.

At 100 pounds overweight, it is not possible to do that unless one contorts and bends over sort of backwards and it makes walking very difficult.

Evidently Jo has never qualified as “obese” in a medical sense. ;)

Jen, that sounds like a fun Sunday. If you’re now doing stuff like that, (meeting at people’s homes,) it sounds like you’ve moved from people with a common interest, to real life friends! I’d love to watch one of the films with a fellow obsessive. The DS and son enjoy the films, but I have to be so careful, and watch what I say and how I react…… they don’t know what happens in Book 7. They don’t want to know, it will spoil the film for them. (ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!) I have NO IDEA how they can live without reading the books. Come and visit me, and we can wallow!!

Deanie, lol, I’d never thought about the logistics of that before! Maybe she covers the impossibility by saying he was “trying” to protect it?

Nope! I was listening to that part on the way into work today. He was “covering”, had “both hands over” and had “both hands under” him in a chair. Tht’s when I started to laugh and remember even 30 pounds ago.

Now I could do all of those, but not 30 pounds ago and I have never been wider than I am tall. Or even larger around than I am tall. ;)

Hometime! Thank goodness! ;)

LOL, Deanie – maybe that’s another one of those things (like matching days/dates or counting the exact number of students at Hogwarts) that Jo just didn’t think carefully about. I can’t remember the exact wording in the book…does it say he was trying to protect it with his hands? Maybe it just meant that he had himself in a corner or against a wall, or maybe was holding a blanket behind him? ;)

Asti, I still haven’t completely clicked with any of them to the point that I’d consider them good friends, but they are a nice group of people. I really haven’t been to a lot of the events because of the distance, so many of them are much closer than I am with them. Do your DS and son at least read the books after they’ve seen the movies, to fill in all the missing details? I suppose the only good thing I could say about only watching the movies is that they probably enjoy them more than we do since they have nothing to nitpick over! :D

I would definitely love to come visit, and one way or another, I will get there some day! Depending on my money/job situation, I have this little dream of treating myself to a trip in the summer of 2012 to celebrate my grad school graduation, but I’m not sure how realistic that will be, especially since I’ll also be needing a new car by then (and that’s IF my current car even makes it that long!). It’s nice to dream though…maybe I’ll hit the lottery! ;)

helloooooooo Leaky!

Hi asti, Jen, Twin2! Thanks for the greetings. Yes, I have had fun as part of the nuttiness, no worries! :) Tho I could stand to have more fun ;)

I like it here more, too, so will be sticking around here preferentially.

Deanie I figured that Dudley was not necessarily covering his bottom with his hands; rather that maybe he was trying to be sure to face the Weasleys rather than, for example, walking in front of them. If I recall right, Hagrid got Dudley when Dudders was looking at Harry’s bday cake, and not facing Hagrid. But who knows… GoF was, perhaps, just at the beginning of Dudley’s growth spurt/taking up boxing (can’t recall for sure, though), so maybe he wasn’t quite that big yet…?

Jen that sounds fun!! :) Hope you have a great time!

asti hope you can have some fun despite the coordinator’s role…! Do you get to swim during your daughter’s lessons, too?

world cup fans I was also shocked by Germany losing, though I had heard great things about Spain’s team, too. I’ve only gotten to follow it rather peripherally due to recent, somewhat more urgent things, but it sounds like it’s been quite the tournament. I just read today about Paul the Psychic Octopus… LOLOLOLOL!!!!!! Apparently he’s picked the winner of Germany’s past 6 WC games, all correctly, so there was much fanfare about his final prediction… which was for Spain to beat the Netherlands… I guess we’ll see on Sunday if he’s right!

Deanie, with those quotes to hand, you must be right, and Jo has never had issues with her weight! Well done to you for being able to do it now. Have a good evening.

Jen, nope. I read the first 3 aloud to my son when he was younger. Neither of them have EVER shown any interest in reading the books for themselves. How can they live in the same house as DH and not need to read it? They watched me sob my heart out as I never have before, and are happy to wait for the film to find out why. I think they both belong to another species….. but yes, they do think more of the films than I do! And when you make it over here, I’ll be waiting! Have a good evening.

It’s good to see you again, Huff! No, I don’t get to swim too. I get to watch/read my book/ check every so often to make sure she’s not drowning….! I hope you get to have more time for fun soon! xx

Hi asti! ah well, at least you get to read, and (I’m sure) watch your little one frolic! :) I can’t imagine not having read HP, but to not have to spoil it while they are waiting for the movies…!!!! I have friends of the same mindset, and my brain hurts just contemplating the idea.

I should have more time for fun soon… :) But I’m off now, so ttyl! :)
