Okay. I have the avatar figured out. Now I can show off my Harry Potter socks to people that might actually care.

Aloha! ;)

Cool socks Hermine! ;)

I may go home early, I feel a bit yucky. We’ll see how it goes for the next hour or so. :(

I hope you feel better soon, Deanie.

Opal (a brand of yarn) came out with a set of colorways named after the HP characters for the release of the HBP movie. I happened to find some of the Harry Potter colorway a few months ago for a reasonable price, so I indulged. Here is a link to the yarn manufacturer’s web site.

Ooh, there’s actually been some activity here since I last stopped by! :)

Hi Hermine! Long time no “see”! How’s everything going with you? I love the socks; I remember Leaky posting about that yarn – it makes me really want to learn to knit! ;) Which character did you get?

Cool Hermine! Sadly, I cannot knit. I have tried to learn, but I cannot coordinate my hands to do it. I always forget which is knit and which is purl. I do crochet, but nothing delicate or fancy, my arthritic hands just cannot handle very thin yarn or thread anymore. ;)

Well the poll comments are now blocked at work. The jackass who implemented the tightening of our firewall will probably only be in the job until January, so why does he have to make sure that we will all be glad he’s gone? Of course, his replacement is not likely to reverse anything he has done, unless they want to make their mark by throwing out everything he implemented and starting over.

With luck, the new Commissioner will not resemble Attila the Hun and we will be able to build employee morale instead of trying to ruin it. ;)

Bbt maybe. ;)

Bookworm Jen, life has been getting a bit easier now that DSon is getting services for his developmental delays at his Kindergarten. He is making strides, and I hope he will be able to handle first grade in a year or two. DD looks forward to going to Kindergarten when she turns three. I have the role of coordinator of all of the kids’ activities and making sure they are prepared for any changes in the daily routine.

I got the Harry Potter colorway. I might get the Tonks colorway if the market stall where I purchased the Harry colorway participates in the special market next week. It is the only time/place where the HP yarn isn’t jacked-up in price.

Deanie, I am sorry to hear that the poll comments are blocked at your work. That just stinks. :(

I knit socks because they don’t require a pattern. You just knit around and around, do the heel, then knit around and around. With two active kids, I can’t handle anything more involved.

Wow, I can’t believe your daughter is almost three, Hermine! I remember you talking about her being an infant…but wait, that must have been around the time of the DH release, right? Wow, time has flown! Now are you still in Germany? I can’t remember if you had said you were living there permanently or if it was just a temporary stay. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you to be able to get the Tonks yarn at the sale price. :)

Bookworm Jen, DD has a ways to go before she hits three. We are currently in the throes of the terrible twos. I am still in Germany and won’t move without a very good reason.

Morning all!

Oh, good luck with the rest of the terrible twos, Hermine! None of my nephews seemed to go through that…unfortunately, they did go through the terrible threes. My youngest nephew just turned 3 last week, so we’ll see how he does. ;)

I let myself dream a bit this morning and started pricing some Universal vacation packages for this year. I know I really can’t afford to go because I want to save up to go in 2011 for LeakyCon, but it was fun to imagine going earlier. With all of the previews and pictures being released lately, I’m getting more and more excited.

Hermine, I just sent you a friend request. :) Ooh, and yay – you’re a Ravenclaw too! :D

I was surprised that I can get here today. I suppose they checked and got the PG13 rating and the fact that Leaky is listed as a “news” group. I hope this stays available. ;)

Bookworm Jen I accepted your friend request. I hope I did that correctly. Yes, I am a Ravenclaw. I am not very brave, but I am fairly clever.

Deanie I am glad to see you are able to post here despite the firewall of doom.

Mistic Summer is only making a cameo appearance here this weekend. Then it is back to mid-60s with at least one rain shower per day that we have had for over a month. The weather is so unseasonal I can’t believe how close we are to the solstice. The Biergartens and outdoor pools are really suffering. Anyway, I hope your weekend is all you want it to be.

The Firewall of Doom (thanks for the name, Hermine) has struck again!

Around 3:30 Friday I sudenly could not get back here or into CC at Yahoo. I will be extremely glad when they have it settled down, no matter which way it ends. I do however hope it ends favorably for me and my sites. ;)

Anyway, I just made the rounds and I hope I will see you all, one place or another tomorrow. ;)

OK! Everyone look at your calendars and notice that the 4th of July is on Sunday. Then in following their own guidelines, you will see that the Federal employes will be off on Monday the 5th.

Because someone in the Governor’s office here is an idiot, we are having Friday the 2nd instead. So even my DS will be off on the 5th, and he works for a small business that in owned by people who really don’t want to let anyone off for any holiday. Can the State get any more screwed up? ;)

If people travel out of state or even out of town for the holiday, they could go on Friday night or Saturday and use Monday to get back, but not if they are Georgia State employees. ;)

See you all Monday, maybe. ;)

Morning all!

Hermine, you did accept the friend request correctly; you show up on my list now. :) I am also not very brave (though I think I’ve gotten better as I get older!) – for me it was a choice between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, and I just found that I leaned towards Ravenclaw. But I suppose I’m actually a Ravenpuff – definitely a combination of the two.

Hi Felipe!

LOL, Deanie! I hope you’ll continue to be able to get in here throughout the day.

I’m back at work, so I’ll be lurking throughout the day.

What are you counting, Won Two?

Hi Filipe, I don’t think I have met you. I am Hermine, the German transmutilation of Hermione. Hermine is a valid German girl’s name that seems to have gone the way of Rosine, and Adelheid. I live in Europe so I post at weird times. I haven’t been here much for the past couple of years, which is probably why I don’t remember you.

Deanie, did you really expect any less of the government?

I am back after a weekend at my in-laws to get my tooth fixed. A piece chipped off, but it was a minor fix (no need for a crown or anything). Chewing on both sides should be painless again tomorrow. :)

Hermine, Hurrah for modern dentistry! ;)

Hometime in about 35. ;)

I’m trying tto decide if I will take my nap this evening, or not. I really have a bunch to do at home, but I am almost too tired to be able to do it properly. I think the nap is going to win. ;)

Bbl or bbt, if the Firewall of Doom allows. ;)
