Oh, okay. I wondered what happened to everyone, Won.

Mistic, I am two different people? Can my other self help with the kids when one gets over-stimulated and has a melt-down?

Uruguay and France are still tied at zero.

Hi Hermine and Asti! Sorry to be leaving just as you both got here, but I am very glad to be heading out of work. Though it’s nice to have a full-time paycheck again, I think I’m about ready for school to start up again! :)

Jen, I’m looking forward to being paid this month too….. I’ve notched up 30 hours of overtime! Have a fun evening! And when does school start again??

Wow, 30 hours of overtime?! That should make for a nice check! Do you get paid a higher rate for overtime hours? Here most places pay time and a half for anything over 40 hours in a single week. And I think some places do it based on daily hours so that anything over 8 hrs is considered OT.

School doesn’t start until September, so I’ve got a while to go! I don’t want to wish away the summer, though, so I’m going to try not to complain too much. I suppose there are worse things than to have a boring job…at least I can lurk here! :)

Jen, if I go over 40 hours in a week, yes, it’s time and a half. I also get time and a half when I work Sundays. Are you working all summer, or will you be able to have a holiday?

Aloha!!

We lost power yesterday sometime while we were at work. The result is that my DSL modem went haywire. We could not get online at all yesterday evening or last night.

I pushed the reset button and disconnected the power and nothing worked. I planned to call tech support about it, but first I tried one more time this morning.

So I disconnected the power cord and went to get my cell phone. Discovered it dead, so plugged it in. Decided I was peckish and went in search of sustainence. Popped a couple of waffles in the toaster, waiited for them to pop up.

Then I came back and reconnected the power. The “Power” light came on green and did not flicker – it had been all four lights flashing and the “Power” light was red. So I wandered off to load my pill box (I was too tired to do it last night) and to take my morning pills.

When got back to my office, all the lights on the modem and on the router were doing what they should. So I don’t need to call tech support and try to decipher their accents or have them struggle with my accent and lack of knowledge. Everyone wins!!! ;)

Off to catch up my WW online records for last night and today. ;)

Afternoon all!

I’m mostly working all summer, Asti, although I am taking 5 days off in a row for the library conference in 2 weeks. My dad keeps talking about wanting to go to the HP theme park, so I may find myself there before next year after all. :)

Hooray for not needing to call tech support, Deanie! That is always something I dread, LOL. Last week my internet and phone were down, and resetting the modem didn’t help. However, when I tried to call Comcast (on my cell phone), I made my way through most of the automated system…until I pressed the button to indicate that there was a problem with my service. Then I just got a message stating that they could not transfer my call at that time. So the one time I really wanted to get a hold of someone, I couldn’t! Two hours later it finally came up on its own.

asti, I am rooting for both Deutschland and the USA. I would have both flags hung in my front window, but during the Winter Olympics, someone threw a rock (or two) at the window, cracking the window casing and chipping the facade of the exterior wall. The damage was just above the US flag. :(

I am glad the router fixed itself, Deanie. I always feel stupid when calling tech support, even if it isn’t a dumb question.

US and England are tied at 1 at halftime. Go team USA! Oops. Halftime is over. Laters.

Hermine, I’m sorry to hear about the vandalism. There are a few South African flags flying from houses here, but I havn’t seen any other country’s apart from England. My DS has hung an England flag from our window! What did you think of our goal keeper last night!!! We’re watching Germany/Australia too.

Jen, how is your headache? I forgot about your conference, sorry! And I really hope you go to the theme park, you’ll be there before all of us except Felipe! Will you take your nephews again?

Aloha! ;)

I wish they would just pay me and not make me come to work. le sigh ;)

Off to try not to get caught being lazy. Actually I do not have anything left to do today, until the mail gets here around 10:30. ;)

It’s too bad employers expect you to look busy even when you are all caught up and have no work of your own to do. True, I can still work on my supervisors stuff, but it is boring. That is why she hasn’t done it yet. This is leftover from 2008. ;)

Off to see where else I can get into. Perhaps the Firewall of Doom has settled down and will stay set the way it is. ;)

Asti from where in the world do you post? If you are in the UK, I am a little surprised that there aren’t other flags flown where you are.

Around here there are lots of Italians, Turks, and Croatians in addition to the Germans. The Turks didn’t make it to the muggle world cup, and I hope they did better in Quidditch.

Morning all!

Hermine, that’s terrible about having a rock thrown out your window! Do you know if it was an isolated incident, or were others affected as well?

Asti, after a nap and some food, my headache went away, though I got another one yesterday. I think they’re allergy-related (though those darn horns didn’t help, LOL). I had stopped taking my Claritin because I forgot one day and felt fine, so I thought that whatever pollen I’m allergic to must have died down, but now a week later, the allergies have returned with a vengence. :(

Bleeding-Ravenclaw, I love your avatar! Very clever! :) And I definitely agree with you about the spiders! Eek!

Ha ha, Deanie – if you figure out a way to get paid to stay home, be sure to let me know! ;)

Oh my goodness, I am so sleepy today! I’m not even sure why; I didn’t go to bed that late last night. I did take Benedryl before bed; it almost feels like it hasn’t worn off, but it’s only supposed to last 4-6 hrs. And I’ve taken it plenty of times before without this effect. I pruposely buy the 12-hr non-drowsy Claritin for during the day so I can still take the Benedryl at night as needed. Maybe a drowsy-inducing Claritin snuck into my package. ;)

I keep feeling my head want to nod forward. It’s going to be a long day. Then again, having said that, I’ve just looked at the clock and I’m almost halfway done, not counting lunch. So I guess today’s actually going by surprisingly quickly. (Uh oh, I hope I didn’t actually nod off, and that’s how I lost all that time, LOL!) Oh well, now I’m just rambling to have something to post; it makes me so happy to see more regular posts here! :D

I wnt to bed late last night. Not midnight late, but late even for me – 4:00 am. Then rolled and tossed until the alarm went off at 6:00 am.

I feel sooo groggy now. I just ate lunch and that is liable to compound the drowsiness. I just have to be awake and alert to drive home. In the car I have CS to keep me awake. Ron & harry just finished their detentions while Ron had his slug attack.

Odd that I never noticed, there are a lot of slugs in this book. Hagrid is in Knockturn Alley looking for flesh-eating slug repellant (I think slugs of any discription are pretty repellent, but there you go.) The Ron says, “Eat slugs, Malfoy”, in the entry hall with Harry’s still wrapped broom, then Ron tries to jinx Malfoy with the slugs and it backfires.

Remember the speculation that books 1 & 7 corellated as did books 2 & 6 and 3 & 5? Well I think the only true correlation in books 2 & 6 seems to be slugs and Sluggy. ;)

Whoa, Deanie, you definitely have me beat – I won’t complain anymore! I don’t think I’d be able to keep my eyes open in your situation. Hope you get home safely…and get to take a nap! :)

Good observation about the slugs; I hadn’t thought about that before!

Hermine, yes I’m in the UK, but in quite a rural area where we don’t have a lot of different nationalities….. or at least no one who is a football fan! If I were to go to our nearest city, 20 miles down the road, there would be a lot more flags! I am Welsh, and I have high hopes of a stunning Welsh performance in the Quiddich World Cup…. we are good with dragons! And that is the only World Cup that really matters!!

Jen, have you seen your Doctor about the allergies? I worry you are taking a lot of over the counter medication. And those horns are really beginning to annoy me! If it was a tune, I wouldn’t mind at all, it’s just so monotonous!

Deanie, I don’t know how you manage on your sleep pattern. Good luck with the rest of the day, and enjoy that nap! What was the correalation theory? I seem to have missed that…..?

Hi, Mistic. I’m glad you enjoyed the awards show!

Back to the delights of Italy v Paraguay……

Asti, Exactly that. The occurrances in the early books were supposed to be large hints and precursors to the events in the later “matching” books. All foreshadowing and real plot giveaways. I think that theory died sometime between the 4th and 5th book releases.

I’m not too sure it even had much support. I remember it mostly because I thought at the time that it was probably a huge stretch and highly unlikely. ;)

Jen, I agree with Asti. You should probably get your sinuses and allergies checked out. ;)

Home in 45 and we had a total power failure for about 10 seconds today. I want to be sure I’m out of all my sites well in advance of leaving so I’m not slowed down because of something stupid. ;)

Ttfn! ;)

Deanie, almost like conspiracy theories! I’m not surprised it died a death…. though when you think of the last book, and how all the story comes together, and is finished off so completely, with seemingly insignificant events proving crucial, maybe not so far fetched after all. Gosh, what an awfully written sentance! Sorry!

Good Morning Everybody!!! WOW we did get our share of thunderstorms last night!!!! Deanie!!! I like your idea very much, but I think off 4 days, &work 3 days might be a bit better!!! lol Bookworm Jen, I hope you can find the extra time to visit when you come, we can go have lunch together there are some really nice places like the Rod & Reel Restaurant, beside the Old Rail Road Museum, Traders Restaurant, which has outside seating under a nice covered porch with water view, we even have a Trolley that takes you around the complete area for 25 cents, it will drop you off at a restaurant and come back and pick you up there are 4 trolleys that run non stop, and several pick-up points it will bring you back to the point that you got on. Not to mention the Boardwalk all along the Chesapeake Bay, with a home made funnel cake, and hot-dog/burger stands and some shops, and loads of Antique shops. There is also a Giant Water Slide and pool area. Smokey Joe’s Ribbs & Barbeque Grill
Well there just almost is NO end for finding something to do!!! lol
I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A FANTASTIC TUESDAY!!!!

Nothing much going on, but I do have a bit to do. And I think I will get started on the letters that will need to be sent out with my renewal packages in October. ;)

I know that is still 4 months away, but I want to not have to rush at the last minute and besides, it means I’m only working on my stuff. ;)
