I tried to post earlier but it got ate seeral times.
I did try to say Hi to Hermine
We went shopping again today. I have everything priced but still need to enter it into inventory.
A very early good morning all! I’m just getting ready to head to the train station. I’ll pop in to say hello tonight once I’m settled in at the hotel. :)
Good Morning Everybody!!!! IT’S FRIDAY!!! IT’S FRIDAY!!!!! HAPPY FRIDAY TO EVERYBODY!!!!
Morning Bookworm Jen!!! have a nice train ride!!! I could not believe that we did not get any rain storms last night, it was indeed a bit cooler out this morning when I left at 5:30am, but the ground did not seem even the slightest bit wet, I guess that it rained somewhere though!!! lol I am wishing everybody to have a SPECTACULAR WEEKEND!!!!! I don’t have much planned, I was told yesterday evening that the screens I ordered for three of my windows are in, and I will be picking them up this evening, along with going to the bank and paying my July House payment, otherwise I do not have anything heavy scheduled at this time anyway!! lol
I tried to log in four times and it kept rejecting me. I finally made it. I’ll go and read through the posts.
I’ve made it up to page 8 but there are a lot of long posts there and I have to go. At least I have hacked my way through most of it.
HERMINE, it is good to have you back. Great socks.
I found the Park Account by SHIRE to be most interesting . I’m so glad there are no sudden precipitous drops.
Lady Hawke, great to see you, too.
Mistic, glad that the screens have arrived. I wish you a bug-free weekend.
Jen, I hope your train ride went well and you are quickly settled in your hotel.
We had a great time at the pool today. The kids played in the water until they started shivering. Even then they didn’t want to get out and dry off. The boy seems to be dealing with his sensory issues better. The “fountain stools” that he wouldn’t go near two years ago are now a big attraction to him. The girl is learning to jump off the side of the pool and let me catch her, going all the way under water in the process.
One more blow to the Laundry Lion and it will be tamed for the night. Then it is bedtime.
Long time no flurk!
Catching up time. Back laterrrrr
We went to the pool this afternoon. The water is like bathwater here since it has been so hot so long. It isn’t quite refreshing but it is wet. Once the sun starts going down and the breeze comes up if you want to feel cool you can go in and get wet and then when you get out of the water the breeze makes you feel a bit cool.
They closed the outdoor pool for 30 minutes this afternoon due to thunder in the distance. Everyone moved to the indoor pool. I don’t remember being able to swim in an indoor pool during a thunderstorm when I was a child. I think they made us get out of the indoor pool as well. There is still a glass wall to the outdoor pool. What keeps the lightning from striking through the glass or the open door? I think the YMCA in the next town shuts down the indoor pool as well.
Tomorrow night I will usher for CHICAGO but I won’t have company in the car. My friend is out of town and worked her shift on Wednesday night. So, I am going alone for the first time in a long time. I hope I feel like standing up for the whole show.
Morning all!
I probably won’t be online quite as much as I thought because the free wi-fi is apparently only available in the lobby, not in the rooms. My train got in about an hour and a half late last night, so I missed most of the opening reception at the exhibits and only got 2 free books. :( Hopefully I’ll have better luck over the next few days. Today I’m attending a romance authors panels, so I should be able to get some books there. Then there’s a presentation about censorship and challenges/banning of children and teen books which I think should be interesting from both my perspective as an HP fan and as a future librarian having to deal with such challenges. Finally, I’m going to a presentation about using book trailers to promote programs at the library. Simone Elkeles, a young adult author whose books I’ve fallen in love with, thanks to *Ava*’s recommendation, is speaking at that one.
Hope everyone has a great weekend; I’ll try to check in again either tonight or tomorrow. :)
Jen, just saw you were on FB. I hope everyone else didn’t grab all the books. I presume they have more books than can be carted away in one night. What held up the train? Or does that just happen?
Good evening!
We are watching us v Ghana. I am hoping the second half goes better……..
Jen, what a shame the train was so late! I hope you have a fab time today. Let us know about it when you can.
Lady Hawke,it’s good to see you here again. I hope tonight goes well, and you get to see the show in between your duties.
Waving to Josephine!! How are you all?
Hermine, I loved taking my two swimming when they were little. Those little moments of getting braver, and enjoying something previously scary are moments to really enjoy. My 6 year old swam in the sea for the first time last year. The tide was quite strong, and the waves kept dragging her. She’d pop up, wipe the hair from her face, check she was still close to me, say “WOAH!”in surprise, and dive back into the waves. It was great!
Mistic, I’m glad the home improvements are going well. I can’t wait to hear about your meet up with Jen!
Hiiiiii!!!!! asti waving madly!!!
flurk
JEN,
I did get to see almost all of CHICAGO last night and it was funny but I spent the whole evening wishing I could talk to you, or better yet, have you sitting next to me. There were all sorts of tidbits of information I wanted to remember to tell you and I have been afraid I would forget. First, and easiest to remember, was the fact we were seeing and exemplary cast. The girl playing Roxie played Roxie in London. The girl playing Velma Kelly had a Tony nomination for Smokey Joe’s Cafe. The guy playing Billy Flynn has an Olivier nomination and played Frank Butler against Reba McIntire in Annie Get Your Gun. The woman playing Mama Morton had led a medley on the Grammies a couple of years ago and received a two minute standing ovation. The Mary Sunshine had a magnificent voice. The only way you would have ever guessed he was a man was he was a sort of strange looking woman. Otherwise he was a fabulous mezzo soprano. Today the touring company closes after tonight’s performance and the cast goes home. The orchestra conductor, who actually is onstage and participates in the action of the show is a local boy. He won’t have far to go home.
Now to the other stuff I wanted to mention, we have something exciting that is going to happen here late next summer and early fall. The First International Touring Company of MEMPHIS is going to start out from our Orpheum. The touring company set is going to be built on our stage and the run will begin from here, go to Los Angeles and then to Japan. They will start building on the stage of the Orpheum one month before the show opens. I never really thought about how or where they build touring company sets. I just thought there was a big shop somewhere. Well, now I know they are building this thing on the first stage on which it is performed.
I missed the Tony’s since we were on our trip but I’ve listened to a little of the music. I did not like the number they show pieced at the Tony’s (wounded like a knock off of Hairspray) but I do like the song Memphis Lives in Me. I haven’t heard anything else. It is still exciting to have a show mounted out of our theatre, especially a Tony Award Winner, even if it was a lackluster year.
Another interesting thing is that Dolly Parton has written 20 songs and is turning 9 To 5 into a full musical. They are doing the old “touring it out of town” thing and one of the earliest stops is going to be here. She will be with the company while it is here in Memphis, tweaking it.
So, this next year will have some events a bit more interesting than just having touring companies move in and out. We will have the beginning stages of two shows.
This is a local performer doing his own version of Memphis Lives in Me to a montage of local video and stills. It is a bit self absorbed as it is apparent he views himself as the “true, real life” lead of the show but it is a pretty good video montage of our city and it’s personages and he does sing the song pretty well.

Evening all!
I’m just popping in to say hello. I’m so exhausted, but I just ran down here to the lobby to be able to check a couple of things quickly so I can figure out my exact plans for tomorrow. I do know I will be seeing Mistic – I’m looking forward to that! I had forgotten, though, that the Newbery Award reception was held at my hotel tonight, so it’s mobbed here right now. I’m just going to take a quick peek at the schedule stuff I wanted to look at and then hurry back up to the quiet of my room!
I’ll write a fuller account of the whole conference and trip when I get home. I’m having a fabulous time, though, and I’ve met some great people who love YA lit as much as I do, so it’s been fun. :)
Oh, and two of them are also big HP fans, so I’ve told them about Leaky and LeakyCon! :)
AHHHHHHHHH!!!! John Green just walked up to the table I’m at, was looking around for someone, said hello, and headed back out!! Here I am sitting here half asleep, and that just woke me up!!!!!
Good Morning Everybody!!! A Happy Monday to Everybody!!!! We have a nice 90 degrees day here again today, they are calling for some thunderstorms later on today, and I think the rest of the week is going to be a bit cooler, (thank-goodness) I am wishing everybody to have a SPECTACULAR DAY!!!!
Bookworm Jen, I get off work at 3pm, the WNY Metro Stop is only 3 blocks down on the right hand side of M street SE, It will only take me about 10 minutes at the most to get there from the 9th&M street gate. I drive a Royal Blue Honda Civic LX, with a Spoiler on the back!!! If I get there before you do I will wait for you. This Metro stop is directly accross from the CVS Pharmacy, and when I pick you up we will be going straight down about 4 more blocks, Phillips Seafood Restaurant is on the left hand side, and has under the "Restaurant parking, the evelator will take you right up in the middle of the Restaurant, so if it is raining it won’t matter too US.!!!! lol 6/28/10
I tried to get in here last night and I couldn’t access Leaky at all. It kept telling me Internet Explorer could not access the website.
I am home doing laundry and watching my sick child.
Jen and Mistic, I hope you have a wonderful time! I’m looking forward to hearing about it!
Lady Hawke, hugs and get well spells for your daughter. xx
Oops!!
Hometime flurkmark! ;)

did all of them except eat the food. it was sooooo fun. I hope to be back next year for leakycon!
Hello Everybody!!! Well I am home from my lovely meeting with Bookworm Jen, She is a delightful person, with a positive energy outlook on Life!!! We ate dinner at Phillips Seafood Restaurant in Washington DC. We both share the adventures in Reading alot, and things that are down to earth. We discussed HP Movies, and the differences in the book version of which there always seems to be a lot cut out of. I am truly hoping that Deathly Hallows will follow the book version much closer.
When I arrived at the WNY Metro Stop to pickup Bookworm Jen we were having a severe rain downpoor, Bookworm Jen did get soaked, and my hair turned frizzy as it usually does when it senses RAIN comming/during. Bookworm Jen is going to post a picture of us on Yahoo CC and I think also the new castle. I warn you I don’t photograph very well, I don’t take a good picture if I know it is being taken, and I don’t take a good picture if I don’t know it is being taken!!! lol
Asti we had a wonderful time, Bookworm Jen is a delightful person to meet and someone I am honored to have as a friend!!! I hope more of us can meet up not this July but next July at HP theme Park. My daughter wants to go this comming February or March, because to go in July it will be so hot in Florida!!! I am unsure when I will be able to go, but I would like to be able to meet everybody there if we could all agree on the same time that everybody could go!!! lol
Hey all, it’s been a long while. Whenever you make plans, life seems to get in the way. I hope you all have been doing well. Going through big changes at work. I can’t wait to make it, especially to eat the food. I’m a foodie, what can I say, lol. I miss you all. Hope all is well with each and every one of you. The new trailer is amazing. I can’t keep watching it. So excited. Is it Nov yet?
Evening All, I will try to post this. I was able to post on the HP trailer so here goes.
Well that worked so I will try again.
