Graymayne: Thanks for the information. I will go to Wikipedia for more info.
Wolfie: Everytime I see the acronym I think of “Mork&Mindy” Nanoo nanoo!
It really sounds like a sugar cured ham to me. Honey Baked hams are sugar cured, but they have the sugar coating that is cooked on via small propane torch. Several companies have sugar or honey cured ham products without the sugar crust. They might be a bit more suitable. ;)
I am feeling pretty miserable. I’ve had a nagging toothache on and off for the last few days, and today it has become a constant throb. I was a Big Brave Bunny and went to the dentist……. I have an infection, and am on antibiotics for a week. The words “possible root canal surgery” were used, which makes me very unhappy.
Bleauuurrrgh.
Smithfield makes a real tasty sugar cured ham and it is 1/2 the price of a “Honey Baked Ham”…
I went to the doctor again today. Blood in the urine. :(
They gave me different medications and antibiotics.
I was almost home when I received a call not to forget I had my cardiologist appt. today. Sigh. :(
Off I went to another doctor’ office. I’m in pain but I know that I have all the meictions I need. :)
Asti – you have my sympathies regarding your toothache. I hate, hate root canals. :(
Asti Thanks for the reminder. I have to call my dentist to see if they got approval from my dental insurance company for their person to do my root canal. If not, I want to go to the same person who did my last one. He was very gentle and did an excellent job. ;)
Hey, everyone!
I just wanted to check in and see if everyone was safe after the storm…is everyone okay?
I’ll pop in again tomorrow! I hope you’re all well!

Asti, Deanie & MM I’m sorry that you are all experiencing pain and suffering:( I hope that you will all be fit and well again as soon as possible.
Wolfie Your energy and output never cease to amaze me! Always happy to meet up with you, weather permitting now that winter approaches.
Lady Hawke I have eaten fidget pie once or twice in the past. There used to be a shop in Shrewsbury that sold various pastry items, savoury and sweet. I remember enjoying the taste. Your instinct about onion being needed was fine, you just didn’t see it in the recipe you mentioned, I checked out several. The other three restaurants I referred to are, The Riverside Inn, The Feathers at Brockton, and The Crown Country Inn, all in Shropshire and within reasonably easy reach.
Ava We are all safe but not necessarily well.
MM, I had that when I went to the doctor last fall. I went through urology scope testing, cytology tests, an MRI and a colonoscopy. They found nothing, no infection and no source of blood. I’m sorry they have found something else going wrong. It is always so worrying.
ASTI, :-(
Hi, AVA, everyone here came through okay, even everyone who used to be here.
Ava I hope you and yours are all safe and well. ;)
Worky lurky. ;)
I went and did my voting.
Now, I’m home baking an acorn squash to make cream of squash soup for dinner. Of course, I’ll make some cornbread to go with it.
I didn’t work today. I spent most of the day sleeping in a Vicodin stupor. :(
I’m switching to Ibuprofen tonight.
MM, will you try to work tomorrow?
LadyHawke – I am not sure. I am undecided. I still have pain due to my bladder infection. I should stay home but I feel that I would just be uncomfortable at work.
MM, you have enough health issues you really shouldn’t push it.
This is parental shopping day.
My DS went to work for the first time this week. His back is still out but not as bad as it was. He means to make it through the day and leave work early enough to go to the chiropractor again for the third day in a row.
I really wish his back would get better, not only for him but for me as well. I am having to do all the heavy and awkward lifting he can’t do and it is tearing my shoulder up. It is hard to sleep at night when my shoulder hurts and it is hard to get through the day when I am so tired.
My daughter purchased the new Lainie Taylor book yesterday, the sequel to Daughter of Smoke and Bones. It is a little over 500 pages and she has already read 435 pages. I can’t read that fast. My DS can’t read that fast. I don’t know where her speed reading came from.
I’ll check in later when I get home from my running about.
Lady Hawke The more you read, the faster you can read. That is until you reach my age, then you slow down again.
I got up early yesterday and went to vote. For some reason I thought the court house would be open half a day. Wrong. I bought the dog food for the month, stopped and paid my car insurance, picked up my medicine, and went to the grocery store. By the time I was back home and carried the groceries into the house, I was exhausted.
Of course watching the voting reports made me fall asleep but I woke up in time to hear the concession speech and Obama’s acceptance speech. I then went to bed and slept until 7:30 this morning which was so good.
I went to pay my taxes again this morning. After that I stopped at Walmart and bought a belt and some odd and end groceries. I did buy a pumpkin cake donuts made by Krispy Kream. They were delicious. After I carried in the groceries, I put on a beef roast for later today. Today we will eat as a roast, tomorrow it will be veg. soup.
I need to clear off the counters but I am just too tired. I have things on the table but they are food things not a mess of papers. I need to get them in a cabinet.
My boots/shoes are so comfortable. I have worn them every day. They keep my feet warm. My coat/jacket is very warm too. I bought s new belt that is double sided. A black belt on one side and a tiger look on the other. I needed one that was a little wider but not as wide as my western belts.
Hi, guys!
Oh, I’m glad everyone’s okay Sandy-wise, but I’m so sorry there are some other problems afoot!
Hugs

Aloha! ;)
Worky lurky. ;)
Oh! Josephine, Have you heard from our mutual friend in New Jersey? Did her basement flood again? Did she get power back? Does she need a “care package”? ;)
I will check into my Ya groups tonight to see how everyone is. ;)
And to check for updated addresses. ;)
afternoon all
graymayne it would be fab if we can meet up. I’ll keep you posted on the work front.
and as for the comment about my energy levels . . . I’ve only ever disclosed this to asti before – but I’m really a vampire and therefore need no sleep. mwahhahah
I’ve sadly made very little NaNoo NaNooo progress over the last few words and have only written 14,500 words now. Had a long day at a conference yesterday and then work to catch up on in the evening so didnt finish till gone midnight and didnt have the energy to start writing. I’m babysitting for my godson this evening and have a work report to finish so think that I’ll probably not be able to fit in any writing . ..fingers crossed that I have a full weekend to catch up.
I also bought myself a Kindle Fire and am excitedly waiting for it to arrive . . It was supposed to arrive on Tuesday but I was out of the house in London. I received a little red card through my door telling me I had missed a parcel so I had an excited drive down to the sorting office this morning thinking I was going to collect my new toy – only to be handed a very small parcel which contained a pair of Green Lantern socks that I’d purchased off the internet for my brother for christmas . . .how disappointing.!!!
MM dont go to work with a bladder infection you fool . . .you’ll just make it worse and you know that you’ll end with a visit from nurse elmo. (BTW – in case it doesnt translate very well – using ‘you fool’ in a sentance in the UK is an affectionate term and not meant to indicate you are stupid or dim witted in any way :-)
Lew I think maybe we should pay a visit to MM when I come over to the U.S and get us some of that vicodin stuff . . .it sounds fabulous.
Hello ava long time no see.
Also my friend has roped me into a pub quiz tomorrow evening so please can everyone try and send me a little of their brain power as I am very bad a quizzes (unless its a literary or geography question then I do very well). ironsos at your age you really cant afford to lose any more of your brainpower so you are exempt from this request (love you :-P hahahahahahahaha)
I’m doing laundry today, much to everyone’s surprise I’m sure.
I’m also catching up on Call the Midwife.
lady Hawke please come over to the Uk and do my laundry. I am nearly out of underwear and havent had time to do any washing at all . . . . ..the situation is so critical that I might have to go commando in a couple of days . . .help!
Deanie she and her family are fine. No flooding from Sandy plus their power is back so in case the new storm sends lots of rain her way (unless it becomes snow), she can use her sump pump.
I have started baking again. Watch out ironsos, you will have to eat my culinary efforts. LOL. I really need to know *Sirius*’ address so I can bug him with my baking too. :) where did I put it?
Tomorrow brings in cold and wintry weather here so I must enjoy our very nice warm and windy day by doing laundry. Urrgh.
le flurk
Oh, No!!!! Call the Midwife ended. The series was much too short.
Josephine: Sirius B’s address is on the Christmas card list at cc.
Baked goods Ummmmmmmmm!
I have had a very stressful day. I got on to my online bank account and thought I was going to be overdrawn when a check I wrote at the tax office came thru. So I drove to the bank to put in money to cover my check but when I got there, I couldn’t find the deposit. I emptied my purse but could not find it. I drove back home. As I was putting everything back in my purse, I found the deposit. It had slipped down in my register and you couldn’t see it. So back to the bank I went and deposited it. When I got home, I printed out my check register and started checking to see where I had made a mistake. Well the check had already cleared the bank so I wasn’t overdrawn and still had money in the bank. So all my getting upset was for nothing plus I didn’t have to make two trips to the bank. I am so relieved because I knew I had just checked to see how much was in the bank before I paid my taxes.
COOLG, I’m so glad for you that all the worry was for nothing. Still though, I understand what if feels like to misplace very important checks and documents, only to find they were exactly where they were meant to be, long after you have already put yourself into a state of panic. It can age you ten years in two hours.
BTW I hit 12,000 words on NaNo yesterday evening – I only have another 38,000 to go whoo hoooo
