Morning

My dogs have slept outside on the porch for the last couple of days. It has been warm at night. I have fallen asleep waiting for them to want back in. I let them in about 6 AM this morning. It is 9 and they are back outside. I can’t say that I have not liked them being out from under my feet. That is one of the reasons I am thinking about putting a wall up in the mud room. I want to cut the space in half and keep the smaller one heated to keep the dogs down there when I need to get away from them. It cost too much to heat the whole mud room in the winter time.

I just tried my phone. I am still logged in but I can’t get in through my laptop. I keep getting a Bad Gateway message. We have gone to see Star Trek. I’m so glad I found a way in.

I have gone to town and got my groceries and other things. I hate going to Walmart now that it is a super center. Don’t get me wrong I love that it carries more things I just hate how long it takes me to find something. Then of course I had to go to the grocery store. I don’t get things at Walmart that I can get at the grocery. I don’t want the store to go out of business. Then I went to get gas for the lawn mower. I only saw one bag of dogfood in the truck so I had to go get dog food before I came home. That was another store. By the time I got home and carried everything in, I was exhausted.

I wore my new tennis shoes. I bought them with the card I got for Mother’s day. By the time I used the card and a card with 30 percent off, they only cost me $25.00.

My daughter came over awhile ago. They told me they had sold my house next door. I had put it in their name after I got sick when I thought I wasn’t going to live long. The dues and taxes were just getting too much for me to pay each year. That is right, I still paid them each year. They will close on it this Tuesday. This was their inhertiance and the one I live in now will go to my other daughters. I hope things will improve in the real estate market so they can get more money out of this one.

I am reading Panem Companion by V. Arrow and finding it very interesting. There were many things that I did not pick up on because I’m English. In many ways it was like going back over HP and looking for the clues that Jo hid in plain sight, but you needed your wits about you to spot them. I think that this book will add greatly to my appreciation of the trilogy and its writer. I will say in my defence that I did recognise, during my first reading, that the Games used familiar methods of presentation, which led me to the realisation that it was like reality shows in the UK but turned into a horror version, so I definitely felt that there were layers of meaning to be uncovered. I am definitely hooked.

It appears I can post.

KOREY asked me to cut and paste a post from her and put it here. She can’t get in either. I can’t cut and paste on my phone so I’ll summarize what she had to say.

She suggests we start a reread of Harry on Monday, June 3 with SS/PS and spend about two weeks on it, discussing our altered impressions, new incites, etc.

Oh good, the message posted. I received an error message and thought it had failed.

I wonder why other people can get in and I can’t. I saw over at the New Castle that IRONSOS still can’t get in either.

Laura said there were sirens earlier tonight but that tornado had passed. It was supposed to be a bad night and day tomorrow so they will probably be hearing lots of sirens.

Monday June 3rd is fine by me. I should have my Hunger Games research book finished by then.

I’m up at silly o’clock because I couldn’t get back to sleep. Thoughts at this hour can be very depressing:(

I went to St Mary’s Church in Bryantown yesterday, this is where my sister Daisy is burried and I was lucky enough to get a plot about 4 feet on her left, I am Happy about that because I did not think I would be able to get that close to her, she passed away in 2008, and I have been putting this off for a while that is taking the time to get my own plot and I knew I wanted to be beside her. I hope everyone one here is well and I hope someone here has Sunshine weather wise, because I am not going to be seeing it for a few days. Guess what I and fully retired now, and NO longer work at Walmart, I have earned the rest of my Quarters needed and quit the morning of the 15th My Daughter could be coming and staying with me for a while, and my Grandson Tylor who is now 8 months old, if so I will be babysitting him during the day until about 5pm Mon-Friday only It has been a while sense I have done this, my daughter is now 30 years old!!!!! MISTIC, I don’t know if you saw my other posts congratulating you on getting your quarters so you could quit Walmart but I’m glad you are free.

COOLG, I don’t like to go to Walmart at all, especially the Super Stores. They are too big and I get frustrated walking back and forth trying to find things that are not where I think they should be. I don’t grocery shop there at all, not unless I absolutely have to go there for something else and need one item like a gallon of milk and don’t want to have to stop again. Walmart does not have the variety of products I find at other groceries. Most of the time I shop at the grocery for food and head to Target for anything else I might have purchased at Walmart. Targets are large but not as unmanagable as Walmart. I like their product quality better too. I know it is strange to have such an aversion to a store but I live so close to the original Walmart stores I think I have been sort of overloaded on them for far too long. Sorry, MISTIC, but I don’t think there is any real love lost between you and Walmart.

We were watching DH1 on TV last night. When they were at Grimauld Place the thought occured to me that I wondered if Harry and Ginny clean it up and raise their family there. Does anyone know what Jo may have said about whether Harry and Ginny lived at Grimauld Place.

Hello everyone: Mistic – I am so glad you are now officially retired. I missed seeing you here. I am envious that you will get to babysit your grandson. I can’t wait to babysit my grandson format, least one day. I already have my official first day of babysitting… June 7th. YAYAYAYAYAYAY! :)

LadyHawke – thank you for relaying Korey’s message. I told her on Facebook that I will re read with her. I can’t wait!!

I am also among those that hate shopping for groceries at Walmart or Target. It’s way too much walking. Especially when I get angina while doing the walking. :(

Most of the time I just go to the local fruit market and Walgreens. LOL!!

I do like Walmart and Target dog food prices so I send the DS for that.

I have tomorrow and Tuesday off. Tomorrow I’m going to have breakfast with my sisters. :)
Maybe Tuesday I can visit my grandson. Sigh I will enjoy the days off. :)

Thanks for relaying my message LH

I hate shopping for groceries at Wal-Mart too. I buy dog food at Wal-Mart but get my groceries at Kroger. It also helps that I get gas points for my groceries and prescriptions at Kroger. The gas points give me a discounted fuel price at the pump.

Lady Hawke Just below The Leaky Cauldron heading there is a row of other sections. Under The Books click on "post Deathly Hallows info. There is a lot of information there, extra to what was in the books, as Jo answered fans’ questions. I don’t remember that question being asked.

MM, if you only shop at the farmer’s market and Walgreens where do you purchase meats and basic groceries?

I texted my daughter’s study hall teacher this afternoon and asked her if it was imperative my daughter be at school for the two half days, Monday and Tuesday. She texted back the grades are turned in and we should have a great summer. So, it is official. I am not taking her to school tomorrow.

Friday my daughter said there were only five students in her class. They were told they could roam free for the day as long as they didn’t do any damage. When I arrived to pick her up I was able to drive right up to the door where I pick her up. There are usually double lines of cars that are fed by two other double lines of cars. Once the tests were over very few people bothered to send their children to school. The only reason I would have sent her tomorrow was if they were still keeping role.

The biggest food chain here is Kroger and the closest grocery to my home is a Kroger so that is usually where I do my shopping for food. The closest grocery to my mother is also a Kroger. There is a much smaller chain but the only one of their stores near me is not particularly convenient most of the time. They carry a brand of hearty specialty flavored pastas we particularly like so I will make a special trip there for those products.

Aloha! ;)

Well, I finished my first lap afghan/throw thing. It came out pretty well. ;)

Congratulations on getting your quarters Mistic Willow. I know that is a huge load off your shoulders. My SIL took a part time job to get the last of her quarters after retiring from Civil Service, too. ;)

I ordered new sandals, but they have not been delivered yet. I may need to contact the seller to find out what the problem is. ;)

June 3 sounds like a good date to start the reread. ;)

We do the grocery shopping late at night on Saturday after going out to eat a late-ish dinner. We go to the grocery store first because they close at 1:00 am. Then we go to Wal-Mart becausee they are open 24/7. We get most items at the grocery store and pick up the items they are out of or do not carry at Wal-Mart. It cuts down on errand running during the day when everyplace is crowded with kids and families who are incapable of shopping without blocking the aisles. ;)

Off to find food for me and to feed the washer.

LdyHawke the fruit market has a great butcher and deli section. Very nice cuts of meat are sold there. The only thing I hate is the prices for canned goods, cereals, shampoos. Etc. I go to Aldi once a month and stock up on canned goods. I also have a Sam’s card but I rarely use it. That’s another huge place to shop. :(

I am up late and will probably be sleepy in the morning. :(

Morning

For some reason I was awake several times during the night. I only dosed instead of sleeping. At the time I usually wake up, I finally went to sleep. My alarm woke me up 3 hours later. I must have gotten enough sleep since I don’t feel sleepy.

I am a little aggravated. A series I was reading has suddendly changed their prices since yesterday. So that puts an end to that one unless they put it on sale again.

I think I need to put a window fan in. It is going to be hot today. I do not want to turn the A/c on yet but I may have to. If it gets too hot, my feet tend to swell. Hmm I might be able to afford to turn the A/C on. I forgot that my daughter sold my house next door. That means I will have $1500 extra that I will not have to pay dues and taxes. I did not ask what they sold it for. Whatever they get will be theirs. Hopefully they will be able to finish the inside of my apartment at their house. I only had enough money to finish the outside.

Cool G: If you get your reading from Amazon.com they do the price switch all the time. I have stopped reading
a couple series because of it. Have someone else who is not reading the series see if they are offered a lower
price. You can pay them to buy it and then send it to you as a gift.

Good evening!

Work was very busy, but I think I’ve managed to catch up. Sometimes working on a Saturday is worth it…….it gives me a head start on the week.

My sister phoned with some exciting news…..one of the authors I most respect is discussing her latest novel at a nearby Arts Festival. I need to BEG my manager to let me rearrange my shifts so I can go. I need Felix!!

CoolG, I use Amazon’s wish list facility a LOT. It is an easy way to keep track of the books you are interested in, and prices do change often, especially with new releases and self published. Keep checking, they may well come down in price again soon.

Won, that sounds pretty unpleasant! Forgive my ignorance, but why the 17 year cycle? Is it a breeding thing? How is Sally doing?

Lady Hawke, I hope you and your daughter both enjoy the summer break. Will your DS have any time off over the summer?

ASTI, my DS has a week off starting Friday of this week. We have no plans other than to go hang my parent’s pictures on their walls. We do have tickets to see Miss Saigon at the local professional theatre for Saturday night but I had those tickets long before I knew he was taking the time off. I hope you can arrange your time off so you can see your author.

I did laundry this morning. Then we went to check my friend’s condo. After that my daughter and I went to midtown and visited a pharmacy with a lunch counter where they still make milkshakes and malts. While we were there my friend called to ask me to go to her condo. The two units next to her flooded this morning. I told her I had just walked out the door and had not noticed any flooding. To ease her mind I went back to her condo and checked along the adjoining walls to make sure no water was leaking through. It seems there was some sort of blockage in the pipes and the downstairs toilets in two units had erupted, profusely spreading water all over the floors. I went into one of the adjoining units and the floors were already warping and the wood grain was becoming fuzzy as it disintetrated. I was able to tell my friend all was still well in her unit but I couldn’t guarantee her toilet was free from the horror of potential explosion.

I just arrived home to see the horror and devastation in Oklahoma. There are reports of 51 dead, 24 of them children in an elementary school. They expect the number to rise during the night. The remnants of these storms are expected to reach us tomorrow evening.

ASTI, on the cicadas, yes, it is a breeding thing. They come out of the ground every 17 years and make horrific noise. You can hear them shift like a cloud of noise from tree to trees. I have never experienced walking on them but I understand sometimes they are so thick you can crunch them under your feet. I believe we had our 17 year cycle a couple of years ago. You can hear them inside a house with the windows closed but when you go outside it can be quite intense.
