I made it thru the night OK. Since we were under a tornado warning I was a little worried. We had strong winds and intense lightening. The dogs were worried. They woke me up several different times when the storms got worse. I was surprised that my front yard was not a mess of roaring water but I guess the rain didn’t come down in a flood. We lost electric but only for a few minutes thank goodness.
Just had to get Harley off the new couch. It is not like they still do not have the couch they laid on. It is just moved downstairs. I try to keep the door open but they are not going downstairs to rest. Guess over the winter has made them forget about staying downstairs.
Glad you made the night okay, COOLG.
We are headed out to my mother’s one week recheck visit and to do the shopping.
I decided to make a run for the store in between showers. One minute every thing is dark and it looks like it is going to pour again. Then suddendly the sun comes out and the humidty makes it hot.
I managed to get everything on my list except I changed the watermelon for peaches. I now have everything inside and put away. I also fed the outside dog in case it started raining suddendly. Jen did come by yesterday and fed her dog but I was not waiting since I was already outside. Marley was barking for his food. He thinks I should feed him no matter what time I come in.
Now I need to sit down and take a rest.
I worked overtime today, and am tired! I seem to say that a lot, lol. I am grateful for the overtime. Things are still not great here.
It’s lovely to see all the Leaky Con updates on facebook, but I really don’t understand why all of those attending no longer post here. I do wish they would. There is obviously so much excitement, and sharing of experiences, but none of them are regulars anymore. It is such a shame.
My daughter has been off school for the last two days. She only has a cold, but she ALWAYS vomits when she starts a cold. All the gunk settles on her chest. I keep hoping she’ll grow out of it! She is a lot brighter today, and ate like a baby elephant. She asked me to make carrot and ginger soup. Several years ago, I told her ginger was good for helping colds, and I think she believes it is a bit of a cure all! She managed a huge bowlful, and there is plenty for tomorrow.
I think she’ll be ok for school tomorrow. She wants to go. I want her to as well….I am supposed to be meeting Mum tomorrow.
Stopped at the Pharmacy Medicare was today. One prescription of 30 pills and a shingles vaccine shot.
Medicare was billed $447.00 ( 292.9 GBP) and I had to pay $7.00. Not a bad deal.
IRONSOS, I had my shingles shot about three years ago when my father had shingles. We had to pay and then get a refund.
ASTI, I used to be nauseated when I had a cold or bad allergy attacks. So, does my daughter. I think it is quite common. I wish I knew what to do about it. It is lovely she is so anxious to go to school.
I just saw a photo on Facebook they are headed into the Opening Ceremonies. I don’t think JEN has arrived yet.
I am with ASTI. I miss all the people who at LeakyCon with each other. It was a lot more exciting when people meet up who are still active here.
I would like to see check ins here as well. I’m just glad I can see the photos on Facebook.
Cool G the dogs may have a couch of their own, but it is not where you are. Being pack animals, dogs are social and always seem to want to be where their people are. No wonder they want to get on the new couch. ;)
Half an hour into the work day and so far we only have received 9 calls. and there are still 2 or 3 employees who are not scheduled to be in yet. The phones stay open until 6:00 pm, so people filter in until 9:15 am, with most of us in by 8:15 am. ;)
We had two loud deluge producing thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and evening. One of them appeared to have created itself and rained itself right on top of us. I watched the radar and it didn’t travel. My mother called to tell me she was hearing terrible thunder but was getting no rain. That is because it was raining on top of us. Then, a couple of hours later a storm swept across the whole county, more violent lightning and thunder and lots more rain. Three people across the Mississippi River were struck by lightning.
Now, this morning we are experiencing another violent storm. I don’t have anywhere I have to go today but I need to go to the grocery. My father was not feeling well yesterday afternoon after my mother’s eye check up and my mother elected not to go shopping. As a result I didn’t pick up the handful of things that would have kept me from having to go out today.
I need to think of something to have for dinner tonight. At this moment nothing seems appealing.
The vet just called. Our boy cat has deteriorated instead of improving. He is keeping his chin drawn down to his neck/chest which is a symptom of a lot of bad things, the easiest would be a vitamin deficiency. She wanted to know when he was eating what we fed him. She was afraid he had been subsisting off of tuna or some other meat product. When I told her he ate cat food when he ate she said that was not the problem then. He has also developed horrific diarrhea. She attempted to treat that and it improved for a short period but came right back. She told me if his problem was simply the kidney disease it is not so bad that three days on IV should not have improved his condition dramatically. So, she suspects another underlying cause of his deterioration, probably cancer.
I have called my DS. He is arranging to take the day off and come home. Once he arrives we are headed for the vet.
Lady Hawke I am so sorry about your loss. I know how awful it is to lose a pet.
I have been up since 4 AM. I went to sleep early last night so woke up early. I tried to go back to sleep but no luck. I need to sweep and use the sweeper on the rugs. I have been busy washing dishes and cleaning cabinets.
I had a very nice meet up with my Mum today. She is looking better and in less pain. It was good to chat to her about the various woes in my life. I cannot speak to her properly via email. Seeing her face to face makes me open up. So, we had lots of chatting, and not much shopping. I did try on a dress that was so low cut it made me blush, and we tried on a few hats, which always gives us the giggles.
Lady Hawke, I am so sorry. I’m glad your DS was able to be with you.
My DS is facebook friends with a woman he knew at school, who now lives in Australia. She is a writer, and has some ebooks out, presumably self published, one of which I am reading now. She has just got a deal with a New York publisher! How fab is that!
We are back in for the night. Once we came home and buried our boy in the backyard we abandoned the house. We went out to a late lunch and then to a movie. I had a very difficult time sitting through it but my DS and daughter were about to distract themselves. We did some grocery shopping and brought home lots of goodies for my DS’s week long vacation. This was truly an awful way to begin a vacation.
Thank you all for your support.
Sorry about your cat LH
I have finally finished the PS/SS. I have no other observations to make beyond the ones already needs. This is my husband’s last day of overtime and my job furlough begins. I have Friday’s off until the end of September.
If everyone who is rereading would check in and let me know they are finished we can start Chamber of Secrets as soon as possible.
Sorry for the delay but life gets busy when it’s the most inconvenient.
Finished PS/SS. Surprised at how much seemed new.
105F (40.56C) yesterday. Expecting the same today.
LadyHawke -I am so sorry about your kitty. I still miss my Charlie to this day. I love Casanova but he didn’t grow up with me as a kitten so he doesn’t like to cuddle like Charlie did. He loves sleeping on the bed with us though. :)
Thank you, MM.
I think the whole cuddly kitty thing may be more a function of their personalities. Our boy kitty was brought in from the street as a young cat and he never did like to be picked up and held in your arms but he would sit on your lap as long as you didn’t wr ap your arms around him. Our girl cat who came to us at twelve weeks old from a breeder started out wanting to sit on me at all times but now only sits on my DS’s shoulder but spends most of her time alone. The new kitty who is now three years old and has been here only three months was cuddly from day one. She likes to be wrapped in your arms and to sit close. She hardly knows us.
It is noon and we just finished eating breakfast. We are having a very slow start here. I have no energy either.
KOREY, sorry I missed your post. I have been finished with SS/PS a couple of weeks. I just need to find a used copy of CS before we start it. My copy is locked away.
It is prom night here, the official wearing of the suit for the first time! I’ll post the picture on CC, even though I posted the “try on” picture a few weeks ago. I am going with my DS to pick him up. I want to see all the pomp and pretty dresses.
One of my cats will sit on the children’s knees, demanding stroking, but not on mine, and hates being picked up. The other cat will let you cuddle him in your arms for ages, purring madly, but will jump off as soon as you try to put him in your lap. Funny animals. I got an email from Mum this morning…….she was woken at 5 am by one of her cats bringing her a mouse! I am SO glad mine don’t bring me presents!
