Happy belated birthday, Ironsos ;)

In CoS we know that the first years are on a floor at least 2 below Harry, because Colin said he heard someone on the stairs outside his dorm room say something about qidditch. That is why he was there with his camera when Ron got his slug attack. ;)

I wonder if Hermione and the other girls in Harry’s year are at the top of their tower. I don’t think the books ever say. ;)

I am home, waiting for the plumber…. Well, he called as I was typing that. They were sending out someone to pump the septic tank. The clog is not near the septic tank and pumping it will not clear the clog. So now he has to call the office and have them send someone to deal with the real issue.

The master bath is as far away from the septic tank as it is possible to be in this house. The line from the master bathroom is where the clog is. Originally it was only the master bath line. We managed, with drain cleaners to move it “downstream” to where it also affects the powder room. Then we stopped trying to clear it ourselves before it could affect the third bathroom. we needed a sink, shower and toilet that still work without having to go down to the basement.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the builder did not put enough slope in the drainage system. I do know that we got a slightly oversize septic tank because I was told that it should be able to handle a family of at least six with all the laundry, dishwashing and other water usagge generated by 4 full bathrooms. We have 3.5 bathrooms, but only two people and I have not run the dishwasher in over 10 years. We never put grease down the drains and my new frontload washer uses less than half the water my toploader did. ;)

If the tank needs pumping, we will schedule it for sometime that the DS is here to deal with it, so I won’t have to take the time off work. ;)

Life may be a dream, but sometimes it approaches nightmare. ;)

HELLO FROM THE DIALYSIS CLINIC.

I am sitting here waiting for my mother-in-law. It takes about 3-4 hours to do this. I could have left her but since this is her first time at this clinic, I am here in the lobby offering moral support. I have one more hour to go, :(

Happy Birthday Ironsos.

PB – I read your lovely post with tears rolling down my cheeks. (Not a good thing while sitting in a clinic lobby.) Your post was so beautifully written and my heart swelled with love and pride. All of you “young uns” are so loved and cherished by all our Leaky mother hens. Every one of your accomplishments is like it came from one of our own children. You are all our beautiful children. Having said that. ..

Adella!!! so nice to se you!!! Come by and give us an update. I think we need to raid the Headmistress office for chocolates. :D

We have been having a slow start, laundering the sheets, but now I need to go to the pharmacy to pick up my mother’s eye drop prescriptions for her cataract surgery tomorrow. I need to run to the bank and to the grocery store for eggs and lunch meat. We also want to go and dig some lily bulbs at the house before it closes tomorrow.

MM, what did you have with you to read this morning?

DEANIE, houses are a torment sometime. We did a lot of small repairs before we put my parent’s house on the market. Fortunately, the person who did the inspection did not require us to repair anything else. There were lots of little things, like a couple of towel racks that were broken they could have called us on but they didn’t. Mostly the appliances were brand new or almost new.

Good evening!

Daughter had Changeover Day today, where she found out who her teacher will be in September, and which of her friends will be in her class. She is ok with the teacher, though it isn’t the one she really wanted. She is disappointed that one of her closest friends is in another class. She is sensible enough to realise that they will still see each other in some lessons and at break time, but it’s not quite the same as being in the same class.

Ironsos, I am sorry I forgot your birthday yesterday. I am glad you had a good day, and send belated good wishes and a big hug!

MM, don’t DO that! I thought for a minute that it was you who needed the dialysis! I didn’t realise your MIL was with you already. Did the trip to fetch her go well?

Lady Hawke, my best wishes for your Mother’s surgery tomorrow.

Thank you. We have to be there at 9:15 in the morning. I’m not sure what time we had to be there three weeks ago. It seems as if it was a bit earlier.

ASTI, we never have any idea what teacher our daughter will have or what students will be in her class until we arrive at the first day of school in the fall. It would be nice to be able to get used to the idea of who you were spending the next year with.

I think this year will be the first year my daughter will truly change classes. Last year the entire class moved from teacher to teacher throughout the day. The difference from elementary school was they were not led from class to class. Bells rang and they had a certain length of time to find their way to the next classroom. I think this year her home room class will not remain together all day. Some will divide out and go to Advanced Placement classes. Some will go to band, chorus or physical education. So, she will not spend her day with the same people all day.

I went back and looked at my post the day of my mother’s last surgery. We had to be there at 8 AM last time. That means she is not first up tomorrow. So, we might be there longer than we were three weeks ago.

Modern plumbing, when working properly, is a wonderful thing! ;)

Thursday, I go get my CPAP machine. I doubt that I will have an instant affinity for it, but I suppose I will adapt. ;)

Lady Hawke I hope all goes well for your mother’s surgery. ;)

I found my super simple crochet pattern for a fall/winter scarf. It makes a very lacy-looking 84" long scarf. It uses a lot of yarn because you use two threads throughout. I went and bought some yarn to make it with, but I did not get quite as much as the pattern calls for. So this weekend or after my CPAP fitting, I need to go back to the craft store and pick up more yarn. I will need to take one of the labels to make sure I get the right color and brand. ;)

Deanie Is there also a batch number to ensure colour match or is that unnecessary in these technically advanced times?

Asti – I’m sorry. I thought I posted that I went to Texas. I had to learn how to use the insulin pen on the road to Texas. It was quite humorous. The DS had the instruction sheet open like an old fashioned map. That thing was huge. He would read a step and I would follow it after looking at the diagram. It is really quite simple but we both looked and did it wrong twice before getting the hang of it. LOLOL! We were in the parking lot of a McDonald’s. I tried not to picture what we looked like to others. LOL!

Today I’m a pro. :( not exactly what I wanted but I rather do that then be sitting in one of those dialysis chairs. I think God placed me in that clinic to slap some reality into my pity party. You will not hear me complain again.

Anyhow.. We went to Texas and literally stopped to hug everyone that was gathered at my MIL’s apartment, we loaded her luggage, used the bathroom and took off. We were there maybe 1 hour. We brought the DS’ 14 year old nephew with us. He wanted to be here with us too. My SIL gave him permission and off he went to pack and bring his skateboard. He is so funny. He is addicted to the skateboard. He used it at every stop we made. :) so we have a “yung un” in our home.

I also used the pad to go on Facebook and watch videos. It made the time pass easily. Her chair time started at 6:00am. I will be back there tomorrow. :(

MM My brother has to make arrangements with a dialysis center every time he goes on vacation. He, his wife, and myself are going to TN next month. My younger brothers are going too. We are taking my brother’s ashes and spreading them where he requested. It is also our extended family reunion so I imagine we will have a short cermony for the rest of the family.

It is suppose to have a big storm this afternoon. I went outside and fed the dog early so he could be already done with his dinner befor the storm starts. I must have been the only one who mowed their grass in the neighborhood because mine is the only one that looks short. That is a first for my yard to look nice while the others need mowing. Lol

We went out for lunch today to check out how a pub is faring under new management, because my DS is organising a ukulele get-together at the place in August. The event was previously arranged by our friend who had a series of strokes and now has to live in a nursing home. We concluded that the venue was a good place for the job in hand but wouldn’t go on our own list of “favourite eateries”. Happily the place was beatifully comfortable despite the continuing run of hot, sunny weather. Our flat is not the best place to be in hot weather, it is so difficult to get a breeze through the place. Last night I couldn’t get to sleep, so I left my bed and read for a couple of hours until dawn, then returned to bed and slept until nearly 8.30am.

Well, Sally left today. We had a lovely time together I can report to you all… She was horrified to see what happened to my face, & I was saddened to see what her illness had done to her spirit. But after all that, we were very happy to be back together! I promised her not to divulge too much of what transpired between us,however I can say we reached a happy accord… I don’t think I will be surprising anyone here by saying that I adore this woman very much. Life is a funny thing, & often throws us curve balls… I think it is how we respond to these things that defines us as human beings. I remain happy to be alive & have such wonderful friends. I love you all!

WON, SO GLAD to hear it went well! Bless you both.

As far as we can tell my mother’s cataract surgery went well. She found she was unable to use her glasses after we arrived back at their apartment and she was trying to read some things. She realized she didn’t have the glasses on so she asked me where they were and put them on but had to take them off immediately. Her vision was already too much improved for her to tolerate them. I imagine tomorrow we will pick up some reading glasses at the pharmacy to get her through until her eyes settle enough to get a new prescription.

Won Thanks for the update. ;)

Graymayne In answer to your earlier question, dye lots are not of too much concern with the acrylic yarns. Some actually still give dye lotnumbers on the same label that states “no dye lot”. I just look at the actual yarn and make sure the colors look the same in good light. I don’t use wool, but it is still available and you really do need to watch the dye lots on it. Cotton also varies quite a bit by dye lot for the same color name and I do, sometimes, use cotton. ;)

Oops! it’s after 2:00 am and I need to go to work tomorrow.. Goodnight all. (Or perhaps good morning to those over the pond?) ;)

I am sitting at the dialysis clinic. I could leave but I feel better sitting here waiting. Even if it is for 4 hours.

Yesterday my daughter took my mother in law to the Casino. We had a great time. My mother in law had never been to a Casino and she loved it. She won so that made it even more fun for her. :)

Good evening!

I have had a lovely relaxing day off. Son went to the beach with a group of friends, so I had the house to myself, which was really nice! Son was gone from 10am until almost 7.30, he’s had a great day!
Daughter got her end of year test results yesterday. They grade the children by increasing numbers and letters. By the end of Year 6, the average is grade 4b. Daughter is nearing the end of Year 5, and she is already at level 5a. She is having extention lessons in both Maths and English to stretch her potential. She has one more year left before she goes to Senior school, and I can’t wait! Her current school is very good, but, with the opportunities the Senior school offers, both educational and vocational, she is going to soar.

Won, I can’t tell you how happy your post made me! I have had you both in my thoughts. While I fully understand Sally not wanting details posted, can I ask if you will be meeting again very soon? I am sending you both my love, and I am sure that being together with help you both heal in so many ways. (Though I assume she brought only flat shoes for her stay????! Forgive me! xx)

Ironsos, I love that idea!

Well I am back from getting my hair cut. Not only did I get it cut, I had my eyebrows waxed. They haven’t look this good in 8 years. I don’t know why I didn’t think of getting them done before. My hair is short but still cut in a bob. I couldn’t believe all the hair that was on the floor after it was cut.

I also went to Walmart and purchased The Host. I was disappointed they did not have a lot of extra’s.

Won So happy things went good.

Asti I have difficulty trying to figure out the grading system. I guess the best thing is they are doing well.

Ironsos You constantly amaze me with your wit.

Need to go rest. Just beginning to feel tired after all the shopping I did today.
