Ironsos Now that’s what I call a friend! Enjoy and take care of yourself. I go for a ’flu injection on November 25th in the hope that the winter cold will not get the better of me.
Just out of curiosity, did anyone go to see The Black Swan starring Natalie Portman a couple of years ago? She won an Oscar for her performance. I sat down to watch it recently but I turned it off after about half an hour, I had seen enough to know it wasn’t for me. According to IMDb I am not alone in my reaction, but I might be in the minority.
Graymayne: Oddly enough I have already had my flu shot for this year. The doctor said that though I have
been given a pneumonia vaccine it is only for the most common kinds. I have also found that a steaming bowl
of chicken soup with a huge amount of pepper will make you sweat quite nicely.
GRAYMAYNE, I had no interest in seeing The Black Swan. I had already heard too much that disturbed me. I knew I would not enjoy it.
JOSEPHINE, it is so good of you to take care of our sick boy.
Josephine – welcome back and thank you for being such a good friend.
I have taken a shower for the first time in ages. :(. It felt awesome. I was taking sponge baths and washing my hair over the sink to keep the incision water free. They removed the bandages yesterday and said I could shower today. Simple things make my day so much brighter. I can return to work on December 2.
MM, since you can shower and now you have a return to work date, do you think you can enjoy the rest of your enforced holiday vacation? Are you feeling strong enough to get out of the house a bit, just enough to relieve the tedium? I hope by next weekend you are feeling well enough to participate in any family plans for Thanksgiving weekend.
My mother has a long list of places we need to go. She has been putting a lot of things off for weeks and the time has come she can’t delay any further. We are still planning a Thanksgiving dinner. She wants to go purchase what she needs.
You all know she has been writing fanfiction based on The Rise of the Guardian. Over a period of time she has developed quite a few people following her and many who have made her a “favorite” to be followed.
This morning she was quite excited. It seems someone has created a new subfile on the fanfiction website devoted to those who want to write fanfiction based on her fanfiction. So far about five people have contributed fanfictions based on her work.
She says I am still not allowed to read it and now she doesn’t want anyone to read it. She knows the first chapters were awful and although she feels she has improved she still does not think the newer chapters would hold up against analysis.
Still, she is quite thrilled to have people out there who have enjoyed her work so much as to have fanfictions being written based on her work. She says it is very rare to have this happen. People like Cassandra Clare had all sorts of fanfictions based on her fanfiction but it is still unusual to have any at all.
Ironsos So glad Josephine is taking care of you.
Josephine Thank you for the update on what really is going on over there. I was in 9th grade I think and had to make a report on the Phillipeans during World War 11. I researched it and read a lot of fiction about that time too.
Still feel yucky but no worse than yesterday so hopefully I am past the halfway point.
Guess I will go ahead and stream Ironman 3 on amazon.
I woke up at about 4.14am and couldn’t get back to sleep. I finally gave up at 6.0am and went into the computer room until I needed to eat breakfast. I found myself drifting as I watched the news on TV.
I have ordered my Christmas cards from a charity so I feel I have achieved something this week.
I see that another of my posts has gone astray. I must pay special attention when I exit just in case I am failing to click the submit button.
I have just watched a film review programme which was broadcast last night covering three films on release in UK this week: Catching Fire, The Family with Robert de Niro and Michelle, and Parkland which takes another look at the assassination of JFK in l963. All three commentators enjoyed and praised CF and were very disparaging about the other two, and I would guess that these critics were all under 45yrs. So, if you were planning on seeing either of the films which got the thumbs down signal, perhaps you should check out other reviews before parting with your money.
Lady Hawke I suppose you are referring to Little Hawke as the fanfic author. Tell her we are proud of her and we would like to have the chance to read it. We all understand that eperience brings improvement and are not expecting a masterpiece, yet. ;)
Ironsos take care of that ick and get well soon. ;)
Josephine I hope your family continue to be safe. Our thoughts are with them and with you. ;)
We did about half of Epcot on Tuesday, then returned to the hotel and crashed. Yesterday we did about half of the Magic Kingdom, came back to the hotel for a few hours and went back to Epcot for dinner and the closing fireworks. Today we slept in and will be going to the Wizarding World for the afternoon and evening.
I suppose I should go get a shower and get dressed so I will be ready. The park closes at 7:00 this evening and we are driving over because the bus would have taken us this morning but not run again until after the park closes. That is just too long for us to be stranded there. ;)
Oops! I missed out a surname in my fim report above. I meant to type Michelle Pfeiffer.
Hi, Deanie Have lots of fun.
Hi, Josephine! I am pleased to report that there have been a few reports on the news about the progress being made in getting necessary supplies to those in need in the Philippines, plus the presence of medical staff treating the wounded.
Overtime again tomorrow, and I don’t want to go……wail.
Daughter has a cold, so did her usual last night, and threw up. She was groggy enough and poorly enough to have today off school. I did a frantic shop in the 15 minutes I have between finishing work and the bus going…….I need the bus if I am carrying shopping bags….if I have no bags, or only one, I walk…..and made her my carrot and ginger soup. This has become practically psychological if she is ill. She loves it anyway, but has latched onto the fact that the ginger will help her cold, and she always asks for it when she’s poorly.
Deanie, glad you’re having fun! I’m hoping for more updates please.
Graymayne,my daughter is desperate to see Catching Fire. When will you go and see it?
Lady Hawke, that is HUGE news about your daughter’s FF! She must be quite overwhelmed. I hope it gives her some confidence in her abilities, please tell her “well done” from me. I am also slightly jealous!
Josephine, the next time you visit Ironsos, please give him a hug from me!
Hello Everyone!!!! I just popped in to say hello to my favorite FAMILY!!! I have been busy working at Walmart again, and have not had much time to appear here!!!! I hope everyone has been well and doing OK, I am wishing everyone here to have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING I will be working at Walmart and into the Night for Black friday Walmart does NOT close Thanksgiving Evening the do not shut down until Midnight on Black Friday!!! Hugs and kisses to everyone I am off to work for now!!!!! God bless each and every one of you!!!!
Hi Mistic Willow, have a happy Thanksgiving!
Asti I don’t go the cinema to see a blockbuster until the demand has calmed down. I don’t appreciate noise and chatter around me when I have paid to see a film.
Graymayne I am with you. I very rarely go see a film until it has been out for awhile. Well I did see the last Twilight movie the day it came out. I will probably go see Catching Fire sometime next week.
My sister-in-law is getting married tomorrow. She is 3 years older than me and has been a widow a year longer than I have. I am happy for her but it has made me reflective. As much as I would like to have a friend to do things with I do not think I could ever get remarried. Although my husband wasn’t perfect, it would be hard to find someone to replace him.
Great little article.
Ironsos Well spotted! I enjoyed reading that. I hope that you are improving steadily with that chest infection.
Thanks, Graymayne. No worse yet no better on the health front. The one good thing is that I am
staying warm. The rest I can deal with.
Yesterday we went to Universal – soecifically to the Harry Potter part. It was overcast and we had some sprinkles that stopped after a few minutes. We went through the castle, but not on the ride (I do not care for most types of rollercoaster rides). Then we went to Honeydukes. While in there the bottom dropped out of the sky.
We left very shortly thereafter. Soaked. I have been wearing capri length slacks, except yesterday I wore long slacks, so the bottom 9 or 10 inches were soaked and flapping around my ankles.
Oh, as a public service I would like to warn anyone who has pain on walking long distances. Rent an electric convenience vehicle at your hotel and take it to Universal with you! You can rent them in the park, but you have to walk the entire length of City Walk before you get to the gates of the parks. even the DS had pain before we got there. And you have to turn it in before leaving the park. Then the hike back to the car was almost unbearable. ;0
We got back to the hotel just after 6:00 pm, had dinner & collapsed in the room for the rest of the evening. ;)
Today we went to Animal Kingdom and left about an hour before the park closed. The Lion King show is wonderful! We also saw Finding Nemo the Musical. It was very well done. We also rode the safari ride and saw a whole slew of animals. ;)
All of the parks have a lot of shore birds just hanging out. We saw an egret outside our hotel room yesterday. It was just standing on a rock beside the pond. It is a pond on which hotel guests can run rented RC boats, but we have not seen anyone doing that, yet. ;)
Early bedtime tonight. we are planning to visit both Epcot and Magic Kingdom tomorrow. We will come back and rest for a few hours in between. ;)
Looks like another big storm headed east from here. All we really got here was a wind event, 62mph (99.7kph).
We did our first Christmassy thing today, and took a trip to a local garden centre. They always have such beautiful Christmas displays; dressed trees, tables laid so prettily, all the silly animated toys doing their things. It was good fun! I tried on a novelty turkey hat…….son took a picture and put it on his FB, horrid child…… We saw a singing, wriggling Santa hat, which I covet as a Sorting Hat feeling festive!
We treated ourselves to a small poinsettia, which I will do my best to keep alive for the next four weeks, lol!
Lady Hawke, a very Happy Birthday to your daughter for tomorrow. I hope you all have a lovely day, and that she loves her gift!
Ironsos, nice article, sniffle, soft spot for Neville, sniffle!
Deanie and Mr. Deanie, having fun sounds exhausting! Did you have butterbeer?
Asti No, no butterbeer. The rain (and the dread of the hike back to the car in it) curtailed any thought of that. All together, except the castle and Honeydukes, Universal was a waste of money. The Spiderman ride was good. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the cartoon and comic book art on the buildings in one part that we passed through to get to Hogsmead.
True, we would have stayed a bit later and possibly done quite a bit more, if not for the rain, but because I do not ride rollercoaster type rides I am still not sure we would have felt the money was well spent. It seems that most of the rides are rollercoasters or derived from them.
Yes! Having fun is exhausting. That is why I am taking all next week off work as well. I need time to recuperate before Thanksgiving, next Thursday. I will return to work the monday following Thanksgiving. ;)
Lady Hawke Wish Little Hawke a very happy birthday from both of us. Oh, and let her know that she will always be Little Hawke regardless of her future age or maturity. ;)
Love to everyone! ;)
Asti I also was not looking forward to buying a whole butterbeer. Cream Soda has never been above my “I can tolerate it, but do not like it” list. As I understand it, butterbeer is said to taste like cream soda with a hint of butterscotch flavor added. Butterscotch is on the same list as cream soda, so I do not expect the combination to hit my top 10. If I could have tried a small sample, I would have done that. ;)
